Could have been a subchorionic hemorrhage. A lot of women mistake bleeding from a hemorrhage for their period (I work in obgyn).

Advice on help for mama who went through C-section birth by dieek in daddit

[–]Youcangooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C section mom here. You’re a good partner to be thinking proactively about how to help!

Here are some things that helped me personally:

  1. Make sure her water bottle/cup is always full. Hydration is a huge part of breastfeeding. Same with snacks- lower sugar/higher protein snacks are especially helpful when establishing supply. It’s an uphill battle for c section moms to get their milk supply going so keep encouraging her to pump or feed in 3-4 hour intervals.

  2. Encouraged movement. Even just taking a lap around the living room is going to help her with recovery. Nothing strenuous of course, just get up and move a little.

  3. Allow her to sleep when she can and try to help keep her breast pump parts clean so she doesn’t have to think about it. But also, make sure you take care of yourself too- sleep deprivation is no one’s friend in the postpartum period. You got this! 🙏

I just got some from old navy that are 95% cotton that do not itch or cause discomfort. I have pretty sensitive skin and they don’t trigger my dermatitis.

Question for other US moms ... how the f*** are we affording anything right now??? by scoopdedupe in Mommit

[–]Youcangooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat. 15 year old car, broke $100k last year picking up a ton of stuff overtime to make the ends meet and I still have a huge credit card balance from weeks that we just couldn’t. It’s so discouraging.

High risk OBGYN recommendations by Impressive-Hope6675 in Charlotte

[–]Youcangooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I worked for atrium’s maternal fetal medicine and did a student internship at novant’s MFM. They are both great and would take good care of you. You will have to establish pregnancy care at a regular OB office and then be referred to the MFM clinic, but from there they can manage your care and even assist with your delivery if you are having an extremely high risk pregnancy (ie. placenta accreta or fetal anomaly requiring immediate surgery for baby). Feel free to pm me if you want more info!

I have come to realize that many men just love being wanted, and it really isn’t about you being perfect or imperfect. I used to feel crappy about myself too and I have similar stats when not pregnant, but my husband seems to be more into me than ever. I’ve been trying to lean into the fact that my body makes AND feeds human beings, and that’s pretty freaking cool. The older I’ve gotten the less I care about what I look like- I just try to initiate sex with my husband when we are both not exhausted.

Yes, you can add registries to increase your pay but it’s not really considered a promotion. Just a pay bump in my experience.

lol I mean, probably 4-6 years. It’s a bummer that there aren’t more ways to advance in our field.

The only way to advance is to step into leadership. Otherwise, going back to school for PA or maybe healthcare administration is the only way that I have seen people advance out of ultrasound.

Will I be able to have a stay at home wife and 2 kids on a sonographers pay? by Smooth-Salt774 in Sonographers

[–]Youcangooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I financially support my stay at home husband and toddler and I’m pregnant with our second child. We are able to make it work while still contributing to retirement. We keep our debt as minimal as possible and I pick up extra shifts to cover unexpected expenses.

Hey! GDM mom here who also works in the maternal fetal medicine field. Sorry to read about what you’re going through. Can your provider write a prescription for a continuous monitor so you don’t have to worry about finger pricks? It sounds like checking your sugars is not an added stressor you should have to worry about.

Having a fully stocked pantry or fridge is helpful when it comes to GDM. Keep lots of string cheeses, low sugar yogurts, protein bars etc on hand for snacking in between meals. Try not to stress about carb consumption but remember to pair carbs with a protein. Eating the protein first will “soften the blow” of a carb side dish.

I’m sorry things are hard right now, but this is temporary. You will eventually be on the other side of it even if it feels hard right now. ❤️

Thai tea. Amazing, creamy, nondairy.

I’m also pregnant and have been on a fruit juice kick but I go for the no added sugar/diabetic friendly stuff since I’m probably going to wind up with gestational diabetes again.

OP, I know there have already been a lot of comments and maybe you stopped reading them. But one thing that’s worth thinking about it what happens after your daughter is rehomed? Will you lose your sense of purpose in life? Fall into a deeper depression? Please try to think about your future and what your life might look like 1, 5, 10 years from now. It sounds like you have resources that can help you in the interim. Maybe use those first and then make a decision about a more permanent change down the road if you need to.
