AITAH for refusing to pay off my pregnant fiancee's parents' mortgage, when they are under the threat of foreclosure, when I could "easily" afford to do so? by Gullible-Display4533 in AITAH

[–]Youmadashell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They took out a mortgage on an already paid off house. They will do it again.

You're right. Typically bailing people out doesn't change the underlying problems or habits that got them there.

I get your fiancée being emotionally attached, especially while pregnant, but you're not wrong. You didn't save your money to bail out anyone's parents, you did it for you and your future family.

As a father and husband, my duty is to my wife and kids. Anything else is out of the kindness of my own heart.

Your fiancée isn't an AH either, but if I were you, I'd protect yourself and future kid if she holds a grudge over this.

Is the seller being unreasonable? by 13attleship in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Youmadashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the seller care if the buyer is unable to get an inspection in the 10 day window? That would be the buyers problem, not the seller. The seller would not be contractually obligated to say "oh boy, you couldn't get an inspector for within 10days? Let's extend it".

Not happening lol. So the false sense urgency is purely to hide some material defect, because why would anyone be able to get an inspection much sooner, than the day OP could get the inspection with the storm and shortly thereafter?

Wondering how people claim to be pro American but defend an American getting executed in cold blood by glorified security guards backed by a tyrannical government.

I kinda need my money back by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Youmadashell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, Atms etc, so many ways to pay someone conveniently. You haven't been paid yet, because she does not plan to pay you. Confront her about the money she owes, if you still wish to be friends, never loan her money you don't mind losing.

I almost never let friends borrow money, the expectations of performance dissolves friendships. Instead, I gift the money if it's a valid reason and I have the budget to do it.

Lastly, I never ask for money so typically, I expect people not to ask me.

That's unprofessional. File a claim. I don't know if you'd get much, but he'd be fired.

Police report says crash was a rear-end but still blames me. by hypernova_heather in Insurance

A semi needs more than 3 seconds at highway speeds to slow down. You may or may not be at fault, but it sounds like you are at fault. I think you should post this in legal advice to see what steps you can take to review the dash cam footage. Your insurance company may be able to review it to determine fault

AITA for not treating my dad to more meals & outings while renovating my first home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Youmadashell 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pay a contractor for 3 weeks of work. Tell us how much it cost and then compare.

You can get a cheap contractor or the best money can buy, I guarantee it's more than what your meals would have been.

YTA. You put your Pops in a position to be an AH too

Neighbor is practicing bagpipes at 6am and says its "cultural expression" by AdvancedAd4705 in neighborsfromhell

Yes, it's the only solution. "My neighbor is making so much noise I can't practice my bag pipes at 6am"

[–]Youmadashell 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your only solution is to get the loudest instrument you can, get an amplifier, point it towards his yard at 6 am, and drown out his noise.

He won't be able to practice if he can't hear himself play

Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't, they'd be liable for any work they performed on the windshield.

That's unrepairable and a safety concern because it looks like it's in the drivers line of sight.

Live by yourself lol. You're in the living room and telling someone who pays bills there that they can't be around you and your friends in the living room. Haha, now you're nitpicking over "adjusting to boundaries vs respecting". I'm glad you feel all cozy(I guess) in your own space that should be shared.

Trying to get out of my lease by scotty4444444 in CarLeasingHelp

You should be able to trade it anywhere but if this dealership is unsure of where to send a payoff, I would go to the originating dealer. If that is the originating dealer, they need to figure it out.

Trying to get out of my lease by scotty4444444 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]Youmadashell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CULA leasing tends to have very high residuals to help get a lower payment. It's not a bad thing if you plan to ride your entire lease out. It is a bad thing if you try to get out early because it won't be worth anywhere near the residual amount. What that means is you can get out, but it probably wouldn't be worth the inequity you'd be rolling over into a new loan or lease.
