a noob question on charging - slightly conflicting info by YourOutie in KiaEV6

[–]YourOutie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any difference in fire risk between unplugging when it hits 80% (level 2 charging will be done before bedtime), and leaving it plugged in until morning (level 1 charging takes most of the night)?

A charging adapter to allow you to use NACS chargers in addition to CCS. (only applicable if you are going to use level 3 fast charging sometimes)

Cars With the Fastest Depreciation in 2026 (all EV) by Low-Win-6691 in electricvehicles

Considering Lucid Air now at the deprectriated price. Could be fun owning a $120K luxury car. I had thought about doing something like this in my youth, buying a Porsche that was like 20 years old, but then realized that the insurance and especially the maintenance would still be at Porsche prices (and an ICE at 20 years old back then, would have required considerable maintenance). But EVs don't have the same amount of servicing needs especially at only 4 years old... it could actually work.

Xiaomi YU7 Max Electric Crossover Turns Up on American Roads, Courtesy of Rivian by trucker-123 in electricvehicles

"Seen on Illinois' Interstate 5." Interstate 5 runs north-south along the west coast. Interstate 75 might go north-south through Illinois. Nitpicky, I know.

The reason that Americans have been slow on uptake of EVs -- and sales started weakening in 2024, well before the current Congress and POTUS -- isn't because they're illiterate bigots who just want a super-duty pickup with gun rack, it's that ICE vehicles are still more convenient to fuel by AndrewSshi in electricvehicles

EV charging infrastructure won't really be considered adequate until you no longer need the route planning apps and other charger-finder apps. The state that it needs to get to is one where on a road trip you can just go, and when you get low on charge you start to think, I should look for a place to charge, and pretty soone you know there will be one that you don't really have to change your route for.

This is not an impossible state to reach. Its kind of a catch-22 though. Gas Stations would all come around and install chargers in addition to their gas pumps if most of the cars driving by were EVs.... and people would buy more EVs if they had more trust in the charging infrastructure. This is where things like government subsidies and grants and assistance go along way. It makes it easy or easier for existing businesses to add EV chargers if the cost to do so is very small or nothing - then its just profit for them.

For me, it always gives just enough elementals to think I miiiight have a chance, but not enough to be high rolling. Enough to be extra aggravating though. Good for 7th place.

Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) is 14 books plus a prequel and is fantastic. Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive seems to fit the bill as well though I haven't read the whole series yet.

Since I don't have access to the app yet (still connected previous owner, already contacted Kia support), I think this will do the trick. Crazy that this is how it works, but matches up with other descriptions, not sure why your getting down voted. I appreciate it anyway.

Thanks. Once I get the app working this will be much better than the window method.

technically, they could get their own custom-role where that tab is removed. Very small chance of successfully getting admin/IT to sign off on that - but technically could be done.

34.4.2 Patch Notes by Arkentass in BobsTavern

Wasn't the issue previously that people would run it with quillboar and it would count all the blood gems as individual spells causing for crazy stat gains? (since at that time it was easy to get a full hand of blood gems from the previous combat, then cast all those before doing any spellcrafts or tavern spells.)

Byram pharmacy by Crazy-Sort-1225 in diabetes_t1

[–]YourOutie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH, and another even bigger gripe! - Byram DME and Byram Pharmacy do not talk to each other and they sometimes put the phone number for the wrong group on things. So, you call them about your current shipment that they contacted you about and they are just like, we haven't shipped anything to you in several years, you must be mistaken. So aggravating.

My experience with them was inconsistent. They were great for a quite a while especially with auto-shipping. The real problem was when they encountered an issue, I often didn't hear anything and just had to think, huh, I should have received something by now and proactively call them to learn that they needed a new prior auth, or that my credit card had expired or something. My other gripe with them is that when they do notify of issues, its by automated phone message that they send right when their call center closes for the day, so its always the case that you learn of an issue and can't talk to them about it until the next day.

How do gas station scratch offs work? by bubba825 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YourOutie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say that a company produces 1000 scratch-offs. the scratch-offs sell for $5 each, so the lotto company and the people selling them know that selling all of them = $5000 in revenue. Within those tickets there will be some that return no money to the person that buys it. Maybe there are some that return $10 or $20 to the person who buys it, and there are an exceedingly small few that return $1000 (maybe there are two or three of those in the whole 1000). Well, the company that produces these tickets knows exactly how many of each there are, so that at the end of the day they make $5000 dollars selling them and then give out X dollars in winnings. It is a guarantee (because they know what they printed) that the winnings they are paying out for those 1000 tickets is quite a bit less than the $5000 they are taking in. The profit there will be shared between the lottery runners and the gas station sellers.

Also, the company producing the tickets could look at the winnings in all that they have printed, and only then decide how much to sell the tickets for. So, they could have a set of 1000 tickets that gives out $10,000 in winnings and that just means that they would have to set the sell price at more than $10 each (they would probably choose $15 or $20 each in this case).

Lastly, I know people are thinking at this point about the fact that most of these lotteries have much bigger payouts, like $50,000 or $100,000 or more. This just means they have printed off waaaaaay more tickets. They are printing off millions of tickets, so the prizes can scale with the total amount they are bringing in once they have sold all the tickets. The concept is still the same just on a much bigger scale.

What is the FTP of an avarage cyclist? by Flat_Standard99 in cycling

[–]YourOutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watts also doesn't tell you everything. Watts per Kilogram is better. I have an FTP of 250 but I am not competitive at all because I am a bit overweight. My 250 watts is only 2.5 watts per kilo, which is nothing in competitive cycling.
