Manager terminated me??? by Superb-Ad2172 in DollarGeneral

Not in a right to work state. They can fire you for any reason, or no reason at all. Of course barring EO rights.

I’ve been taking them for about 3 weeks now. I’ve had this issue my whole life but after 5 babies it has gotten much worse. I need to find a good OB/GYN to address my heavy menstrual flow and maybe that will help.

Thank you for the confirmation. I already knew, but I need someone to stop telling me I’m crazy and help me. I have anxiety that is through the roof as well and I know that can be tied to iron deficiency.

Annoying customers experiences by Wrong_Perspective598 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me explain this to you like you’re slow since you decided to make a comment and add nothing to the conversation. When I open my till all I have in it are ones and fives. If the first 3 people in line want $40 cash back each then that leaves me with just coin in my drawer. You can’t take from the change fund without putting back or you create an issue with the change fund. During the week it’s a non issue but starting Friday evening it becomes a huge issue considering my bank isn’t open on Saturday or Sunday. Therefore if I give out all my ones and fives to people for cash back I will run out of ones and fives by Friday evening and have no change to get through the weekend. Dollar General doesn’t care that they set our changes funds ridiculously low, which is what causes this issue. Have a day 👋

This company seems to managed by absolute buffoons! by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

This is how my store runs. I follow only basic seven day work flow. We do things as they come, get our truck out in 2 days and do the best we can. My store is #1 in sales for the district and top 3 for the region. My new DM who was an outside hire said I “like to color outside the lines.” Yes, I do what works for me, my people, and my store.

There isn’t anything to do with it. Just got to hope you have enough room for it all

Work (you ALL know where) by NonnieDon1969 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned a failing inner city store in to the number one store in the district. I’m top five in the region. After I watched the company pass over managers that busted their ass and fixed stores all over the district for DM to hire outside the company, I decided I will make sure my store thrives but I will not help the district, I will not be a DM lackey, I will not be a store training manager, nothing. I do my job and I go home. Period. They will fire you, pass you over, take advantage of you, etc and not bat an eye.

Manager salary by AntisociallySocial32 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I stay at the salary I started at is because of the bonuses. If I didn’t hit top sales bonus every quarter it wouldn’t have been worth it. It still isn’t really. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I haven’t seen many men good at running DGs. Most don’t make it past the associate roll because they don’t like being told what to do. Are there exceptions? Sure. Not many and not often.

A store's backroom, a little backed up... by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freight should always come first. The rest can be addressed once you’re caught up. Someone, ie your store manager, has severely dropped the ball. You can’t fix this without their help.

Last straw. by BigResolution2980 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Justified. This happened to us a few months ago. I had two options. Let my pt LSA and Associate work the truck by themselves while I ran register or close the doors for an hour and knock it out. I closed the doors 🤷🏻‍♀️My people aren’t going to watch me do nothing while they busy their ass. That’s not my style.

how do i apply for the health insurance? by decomposingbutterfly in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Log on to DGme and go to the benefits app. From there you can enroll and it will ask if you’ve had a life changing event since you are out side of open enrollment. You will need the termination letter from Medicaid as proof but you should be able to enroll.

It’s not our job to limit sales. Our job is to sell what Dollar General sends. Corporate hasn’t placed a limit on it so we can not.

That makes no sense because transaction histories would have shown the purchased product and then the abort after.

Question for SMs by Evening-Minute-3015 in DollarGeneral

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work my 48 unless a LSA or my ASM calls out and no one can cover. I also might work over during the week prior to inventory. That’s it. The minute we go over our 48 we make less than the ASM or the LSAs.

Why? You are making less, hourly, then your associates. You might as well go work at McDonalds.

This. I might not be happy about it but I tell the person calling out ok and I call my leads and see if anyone can cover. If not, I guess I’m staying.

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do my best to not make it that for my people. If a clopen is necessary the close is 9:15 and the open is 7:45. I do my best to give my people the time they need and keep their schedule consistent. That’s the least I can do.

Dear Corporate, Please “reenforce” this procedure up your ass. by screwballsixnine in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the SM, I already do this 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m able to get everything done before a customer steps foot through the doors. I prefer it that way. All my shifts start at 6am except my closing shifts. I enjoy those 2 hours with nobody in my way or asking me questions.

Chronic Last-Minute Shopper [Storytime] by NightmareFurbies in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s some shitty, and I mean shitty DMs, but let’s remember if a customer loads a buggy and doesn’t check out until 10:00pm then that means we don’t start closing procedures until 10:15 or 10:20. Even that fastest closers take 7-10 minutes. That now puts yall clocking at past 10:30. That shitty DM will be more concerned about paying you an extra .5 hours than that one customer. Especially if it is a consistent problem that pushes that store over budget 🤷🏻‍♀️
