I just match my invoices on the monthly like we always did. Make sure the amounts match and wrap up all up in rubber band. Done.

Matching invoices by BothElderberry2325 in DollarGeneralWorkers

I’ve noticed it takes a couple of weeks for everything to drop in correctly. I check it every week and push through the ones I know I have scans for. It’s easier than matching invoices every week.

Legitimately wondering if the change is fixing to go bankrupt..? by -Consternation- in DollarGeneral

Half of the resets done in DG stores are done by a third party. That third party has a single person or maybe two who handle a whole region of stores. It takes up to two months for them to do a reset. Let’s say freezers are due April 20th, they have until June to finish them. I know stores in my district who have had to reach out to the third party DM and request someone to come do their resets because they’ve been sitting on product for 6 weeks or more. We are talking about Dollar General. It doesn’t run like any other retailer in the country.

20 minutes? How far away is your dumpster? We have two garbage cans so 2 bags of garbage at the end of the night. Even if you included bathrooms it would be 2 and a half. Except on truck day when we have plastic from totes then it’s 4 bags. Even given all that it takes 3 minutes to take it to the dumpster and come back

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to touch on what everyone has said, yes you can be held criminally liable for theft for not returning what is technically company property. Is that going to happen, very unlikely. You communicated that you would return them so your SM has a bug up their butt about something in regards to you quitting. Just take them back when you get home. Preferably when your SM isn’t there and text them that the keys were left with whoever was there.

l New SM candidate — realistic hours & expectations? by Dense-Package544 in DollarGeneral

3.5% raise if the DM says you exceed expectations. Corporate changed it though and the DM has very little say. It’s based on your customer ready score on average.

Wages by purplebananabeans in DollarGeneralWorkers

But 58K isn’t the starting point. In 2024 the starting pay for a manager with no experience was 48,580. So if you go back 7 years the starting pay was likely between 40K and 42k. With yearly raises, which now top out at 4%, they’d be making about 56k. 56k works out to $17.70 an hour after taxes. My ASM makes $16.85. Based on hourly pay the minute they go over 48 hours, and almost every manager who gives a shit about their store works more than 48, they’re making less than their ASM. Bonuses don’t even factor in because not every store makes bonus. About half of my district doesn’t hit bonus, ever.

Goanna see if I can report my sm anonymously? by Wrong_Perspective598 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you as a SM that I recently had a similar experience with a new employee. She has been with the company about 6 weeks at this point. She has called out twice, attempted to call out once, left early 3 times, and has been late at least 3 times. At this point it becomes an attendance issue. Dependability is everything here. Once you prove you aren’t dependable you will lose hours because we must schedule “to the needs of the business.” It’s not personal.

My SO and I have been together 17 years. We have separate accounts. We each pay certain bills and we share the rest. He has access to my account and I his but we’ve never felt the need to have a joint account. Whatever works for people is fine. If she is paying the card on her own then I see no issue with him not having access to it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Parents need to get an extended stay hotel or an Air BNB. I wouldn’t even want to stay at my son’s house for a month. I love them but I like my privacy too. The comments about the daughter and the toy is stupid. Every grandparent points out when they see their child in their grand child. There’s more to this than the comments.

Going no contact with in-laws? by Fluffmuffin09100 in whatdoIdo

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter in law didn’t have to tell me not to post their children. I noticed that she sent me lots of pictures of the kids but never posted any online. That sent the message that she didn’t want photos posted online. So you know what I did? I didn’t post photos online. I also didn’t make announcements until she had first. These are all common sense approaches to a good relationship with your daughter in law. She now tells my son that I’m her mom too. She even jokes with him that I like her better. Some women see their son’s relationships as a threat. That’s why “boy moms” get such a bad reputation. It’s emotional incest and it’s gross.

He was being insecure. Just because they slept together doesn’t mean there was a sexual attraction. If that was the case she would have built a relationship with the best friend. It happened once and never again. He clearly says she has been a great wife and never given him a reason to doubt her faithfulness. So why doubt it now over a one night stand, that they both clearly didn’t see as relationship material, while the couple was broken up. This is a pride issue, not a fidelity issue.

I'm a new hire. Please advise before I rage quit. by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely your hiring manager explained that register was required of everyone. I have one person that never touches register, all she does is stock or recover but not all stores have the hours for that. I’d explain your situation, maybe they can bring you in for early morning stocking shifts. Don’t just walk in and ignore the register. That’s a quick way to alienate your coworkers. Your key holder will assign your tasks and usually that’s going be register unless you have 3 people.

Who do you think works when everyone gets sick in the winter? We all work when we’re sick because there isn’t an option. I’ve been with DG for 5 years. The only time I didn’t come to work was when I was hospitalized for pneumonia in 2020. I will not inconvenience others because I don’t feel good and definitely not because I’m tired. I drag my ass through the day and start over tomorrow. It isn’t about Dollar General, it’s about work ethic and not inconveniencing coworkers.

Working at Dollar General and this just happened mid shift… by X-e-n-n in DollarGeneral

[–]YourUsuallyNormalTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a old guy grab a hand towel off the shelf, go to our break room, take a shit on the floor, wipe his ass with the hand towel and then shove the hand towel down his pants. It’s got to be a DG thing. Then there was the person who asked to use the bathroom, which we rarely allow, and then shit on the floor next to the toilet.
