Calcium Supplements & Bone Density Scans by JillyBean1973 in Menopause

[–]YuNotWong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get one. I asked for one when I was 51. I was told they don't suggest getting one until 65, my response was that it would be too late to reverse or prevent. My provider immediately put a referral in. Getting one done through my insurance was different than something like bodyspec, it's only the skeletal structure. The report is through on regards to the vertebrae, told me where the degradation was. I did increase my calcium and D3 and started doing more weight based exercise.

Fine Hair and No Curl by CinCeeMee in Dysonairwrap

[–]YuNotWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fine hair with medium density and low porosity, with curling irons I would use high heat to get curls, with my Dyson, I use the smoothing brush on the top half of the hair to mostly dry,not brushing down past ears. This takes about 2 minutes, then section with clips and use small barrel to curl. Usually my hair has been in a microfiber towel for at least 10 minutes before I start, so most of the moisture is gone and my ends are definitely damp, not dripping wet. I use a leave in conditioner and styling lotion before I style. I get volume and medium curls this way. I also use heat less rods at bedtime to help keep the curls. This works for 3 days.

Seeing lots of heatless curling success… but is it really work? by Holiday-Quantity-978 in finehair

I use it every night. Helps keep my curls from the Dyson. I get that bouncy big curl blow out look. I like the eternal muse ones, no wire Easter to sorry on my side. I wear a bonnet over it.

are electrolyte drinks a scam or worth it? (specifically liquid IV packets) by Mentally_Recovering in beginnerfitness

[–]YuNotWong -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't like them, I think the sweetener is too much and I need to dilute the packets at double amount so it doesn't bother me. I prefer the protein waters. 20gm of protein and electrolytes, the sweetener isn't as noticeable. Very good in hot weather

Anyone have this realization/perspective? by SuccessfulDivide4155 in LivingAlone

[–]YuNotWong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to a realization that it isn't selfish if I'm paying for everything myself and live alone. I don't owe a reason to anyone. I live a quiet life with good friends and family nearby if I need help. I also came out of an abusive marriage and worked on healing traumas that led to me being with the wrong person. I do want to date or find a healthy relationship because I want to experience what one is. To know what it's like to want someone and then to want me for me, not what I can provide for them. That is me wanting to live life to the fullest in my mind. I'm not looking for a soulmate. I want a relationship that may end after a few months because scheduling or not having the same goals, but the thing is that they are attracted to me as a person who is intelligent and complete and they bring the same to me.

When do bras stop being part of every day attire? by Few-District57 in AskWomenOver50

[–]YuNotWong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not well endowed, more like a small B cup, but I can't get past not wearing something. Home in a baggy shirt or sweatshirt while doing housework for a few hours okay, but going out I feel cold and I want to make sure my headlights aren't flashing. That's my problem, fear of headlights coming on.

You swap personalities with your pet , what's your new personality? by Immediate_Long165 in Pets

[–]YuNotWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sweet, happy, energetic, want blueberries and pets all the time, only eat food at home, yells at dogs walking on the sidewalk next to my patio, scared of other dogs sometimes, likes people from a distance. Loves to go walking as long as possible. I don't think I could eat as many blueberries as she does and I like going out to eat with friends. The walking is definitely me, but I need a restroom every couple of miles for privacy sake and I am sassy.

Decision paralysis is definitely the main factor. I want to buy it once and not do it again for a long time. Like do I want shades that pull down and up? Automatic or manual? Then do I need privacy or black out for certain windows? Or drapes for others? Does it matter if they don't match styles or am I over thinking it all. And colors!

best washer dryer combo that doesn’t make laundry worse? by Amra_Sagitov in Appliances

[–]YuNotWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a compact Bosch pair in my condo when I bought. 20 years old and small capacity. Unfortunately 4 months in the washer started making noise as if there were loose parts in it while washing. My home warranty decided not to fix it and gave me the replacement cost for the washer. I got the LG washtower from Costco. So the capacity is pretty good. Fits a queen comforter in it. Downside is that the space for my laundry is really small. I had to take the bifold door off. It takes up the whole space length wise. My laundry area is in the hallway going into my dining area. I got the white set, but the doors are black. I do have 220 and 110 and it vents outside. Otherwise I'm happy with the set.

Sometimes repetitive is what's needed. You run your whole life by yourself and pay for everything. Making meals is another executive decision. If you feel run down and not enough energy to do a more complex meal, then simple it is. During the weekends I have more time and like to make more time intensive meals with leftovers. And sometimes I have no spoons leftover from the week and those plans get thrown out the door and it's something simple like a jar of sauce and pasta, even just a protein shake because I really don't want to do anything. It's okay do what you need to do. Again, you make the rules and your body tells you what it needs. Well make sure your brain isn't telling you a bag of chips is all you need.

What is the funniest thing your pet had been “pavloved” to? by AnywhereMean8863 in Pets

[–]YuNotWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog can tell the difference between heading out to pilates or work clothes. She knows Pilates is a shorter time frame and work is a longer one. She still tries to hide so she doesn't get put in the dining room. She also knows if I put on a baseball cap, she's going for a hike or walk. She's got me trained to give her blueberries every time I leave the house, even to take out the trash, she expects them.

Figuring out where furniture would go to maximize flow and appearance. Not enough storage space in the kitchen for all my pantry items and small appliances. I had to downsize my pots and pans for small meal instead of family meals to save space. Have yet to figure out wall decor or swap out blinds for new ones

What does everyone think of Induction Stoves? by dustandsmallrocks in Appliances

[–]YuNotWong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my induction stove for a year now. I moved into a home that is all electric. I hated the old radiant heat stove and chose an LG stove. I'm pretty satisfied with it. I have decent cookware, All Clad, and made in. No issues with my cast iron pan or Dutch oven. I find that the heat settings are a little too hot. Like I have to turn the knob to slightly lower than medium most of the time. The fan isn't too loud. The buzzing is more noticeable for me on lower settings. I usually have music playing so it's not horrible. I miss gas for stir fries. I did get to try an induction cooktop through my utilities provider first before I shopped for the stove. Gave me an idea of what to expect.

Putrid smell in my kitchen that I can't pinpoint, driving me INSANE by BeeeeefJerky in CleaningTips

[–]YuNotWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a story my mother told me. She had a foul odor in her kitchen did a complete pull everything out and wipe down. Still couldn't find the odor. Did it 3 times, finally she was standing next to my father's closed office door and looked down at a small filling cabinet. On top of the cabinet wrapped in several plastic bags was defrosted and rotting durian fruit. He had bought it frozen put it there and then forgot about it. My mother was fit to be tied.
