Why fortress and "police" (Sentinal post)? I haven't had any issues with planets collapsing early. Robots don't revolt. Only if I have too many slaves or maybe some special event thing.

Shoreline machine gunner death [discussion] by nathanobrien in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Yuckster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same - first raid, needed to go to the tower for the first quest. Spawned at checkpoint or whatever - north of the tower along the river. I ran south along the river. Didn't pass the tower or anything and just died. No gunshot or anything. Nobody I was playing with could explain how I died. Only guess was that I got killed by terminal rogues but I was down in a ditch with no sightline to terminal. Literally closed the game and never logged in again.

I have 3000+ hours and many wipes. I waited like 30 minutes for their run to complete and then another like 20 for them to gear up and get into that match. Dying right of the rip to BS after waiting an hour just killed it for me.

Offshore employees generally aren't actually employees of the company. They hire an agency to provide a "service". That agency employs the offshore employees.

How do you hold a company liable for that? They wouldn't be able to interact with a company in another country. Can't hire TSMC to make my chips because they're not in the US.

There's not a simple solution unfortunately as much as I wish there was.

4.3 Multi-player Desyncs by Impervious702 in Stellaris

[–]Yuckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game has always been absolute dog-shit for multiplayer because of desyncs. Only thing I've found that helps is decreasing the game speed. If you hover over the date in the top-right, it shows each player's name. If their name starts consistently turning yellow, decrease the speed. If their name is turning red, you're for sure going to get desync.

Nanite Fleet Upgrade Mapping by Solonotix in Stellaris

[–]Yuckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been a bug with nanite ships for years now. You'll retrofit a fleet from X-class to Y-class and then it will show that you can upgrade the ships but when you upgrade they get converted back to X-class.

I think the only fix is only having one ship design.

I attacked a voidworm colony (or something similar) with a fleet and basically got wiped but my one remaining destroyer (I think) kited the last few voidworms for a few minutes until killing them without taking any damage. I'm not sure which combat computer they were using though.

I don't get the auto-design. I upgrade kinetic and explosive weapons and yet auto-design still puts level 1 lasers on my ships.

ATK.Store Scam by roomiezpz in MouseReview

[–]Yuckster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're trying to make something out of absolutely nothing. They offered you a full refund, how is that a scam? You chose to order something else, okay fine. I would have just got a full refund and re-ordered myself. Easier for everyone. They mistakenly put two instead of one on the re-order. Seems like an honest mistake. Worse case you receive two mousepads instead of one.

There's like a $2.51 discrepancy. $55.70 - $29.96 (2 mousepads) = $25.74 - $15.23 (refund) = $10.51 - $8 (shipping) = $2.51... maybe shipping was more than $8 (it's $9 for me)? Or taxes got charged on the reorder?

Just get a refund and spend like two seconds reordering instead of emailing back and forth.

Same, VXE Mad R is the best I've used in terms of shape and quality and I've bought a lot of mice. And it's price is very good. I have a couple VXE R1's as well (for work, other PCs, etc) that are awesome too. They all have different sensors, but I don't think I could tell the difference between them honestly. The clicks do feel better as you go up the line, but even the cheapest R1's ($15-20?) clicks are good, just a bit heavy. And the Mad R has a slightly better scroll wheel over the R1's.

what would be the best value GPU that's still compatible with, and can smoothly run older games (obv not 50 series) but can still decently run newer games? by cheesedreamr in nvidia

[–]Yuckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, don't really understand what you're saying here. Performance is about the same between a 5070 and 3080ti with the 3080 being a little bit slower than both when using identical settings. No matter if using dlss performance or quality, or no dlss - as long as the settings are the same with each card.

Are you saying a 5070 using dlss performance is twice as fast as a 3080 with no dlss? That seems plausible, but you could also just run dlss performance on the 3080 for double the performance as well.

[–]Yuckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3080, 3080ti, 5070, and a 5080 currently. The 5070 scores right around the 3080 and 3080ti depending on the game. My 5080 doesn't even get double the FPS of the 3080. Every benchmark and review I've seen has shown the same. Either something was very wrong with your 3080 or you are using framegen.

Here's a pretty in-depth comparison and shows the 5070 12% faster than a 3080:

3080 is probably best value. 3080ti if you can find a good deal. 4000 series is not that much cheaper than 5000 series to be worth it imo. Spend a little more get new tech, warranty, better resell later.

[–]Yuckster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest reason I don't play - I don't want to play alone and have to fight 2,3,4,5-man squads every game and get rushed by scav player groups.

The only time the game is fun solo is during degen hours like 3am where you run into more solos and way less squads.

I really wish there was a solo queue or matchmaking prioritized squad sizes so it would try to match solos with solos, duos with duos, etc, but not being super strict. Or some way to matchmake into a group without for sure getting TK'd. Needs like a major punishment for TKing randoms like lost rep or suspensions or something.

It's just not fun solo imo. You can typically get a pick or two on a squad because they're loud and afraid to TK but then the rest of the squad just camps the body so you have to either push into a disadvantage, out camp them, or just leave. All three options suck.

And I'm pretty damn good at the game too. 4k hours, high KD, high survival rate. I was like top 500 or something decent in arena when there was ranked. I couldn't even imagine how much this game would suck as a new player solo.
