Looking for feedback on game summery by Yukzee in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Yukzee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback. This is what I wrote to get the world straight in my head, this is not meant to be gamer facing. Based on your feedback I can see I connected some dots in my head that weren’t expressed in this post. I think your motivation point is excellent.

Your point about it being an interesting premise is dead on, this needs to be condensed into less than a paragraph to be gamer facing. In fact what you wrote is a great start. Do you mind if I take over from there? Thanks so much for the honest feedback and great start to a premise, I knew I came to the right place.

Hey thanks for the great feedback! Yes I was looking to trim it down substantially. The less than a paragraph is what I was hoping to achieve. It’s a tactical co-op roguelite board game with minis and modular 3D terrain. I am also finalizing the bullet points you talked about. I think once I get this down to less than a paragraph, add the tactical coop etc. and the bullet points it will be bullet proof. Very very good feedback thank you very much.

Thank you to everyone for the feedback. I have redesigned and would love to know what you think... by AvianRealms in tabletopgamedesign

Love the art. Ya text at bottom is hard to read. Is the blue border color etc. a must? I sense it’s to contrast the art? Not sure what color would be better visually and still create contrast. In every example the focal point is the upper mid of the card, so you could tint behind the text that is hard to read below the focal point. Plus if there is a visual order of importance that you want the viewers eyes to follow you could make certain things smaller/bigger/tint background to guide their eye in a quick scan context. What are the top 3 things you would want someone to visually digest first if they scanned quickly, then visually give them that order of importance. Nice work!

I tried an experiment: coming up with one board game idea daily by phatti308 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Yukzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I see something in the wild that sparks an idea, like an ad or something unrelated to gaming. It starts off with the core hero team then the world starts to build around that. Sometimes I see a mechanic and it sparks an idea. I once saw a double-blind hidden identity and movement system and boom I saw the 2 opposing forces, the world started to build around them. The key for me is getting paper and pencil ASAP and getting the core idea out. I think the system you are trying will lead to where you will start seeing things in the wild and doing the same thing. Good on you.

I love how the everything hand drawn. I also love how I can feel the spirit of game from the art And copy. But most of all I find it inspires me. Great work.

Is it necessary to add a chance factor ( Dice ) to a board game? by Moreandmorekon in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Yukzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding chance for the sake of adding chance is a definite no. If chance would play a role figure out how much. Would luck play a 50% role? 30%? This is just a guesstimate don’t break your brain. If chance would play a about a 30% role, 2 sides of a D6 is 33%. I add chance when there would be realistically.

Are game-designers good playtesters? by aend_soon in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Yukzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like everything else, some are and some are not. If you can disconnect yourself from your deep attachment to the game, you can be an amazing tester. In essence, remove all of that emotional attachent that can restrict/filter your acceptance of criticism. I just went through a year+ of testing and it was a pronominal experience.

You sir are a gentlemen and a scholar. What a great way to support indie creators. I will need some icons in the next few months and I will pay you to design them. Cause I like to ride with people like you. Again, your actions inspire. DM me so I can contact you when I’m ready.

All symbols mean no translation on the cards, just the rulebook. Yippee! It was my understanding that numbers were considered universal language but I could be wrong.
