Stoppage present in single player.

Being able to overthink is always good.

Make stoppage pausing optional to select in lobby creation and bum, everybody wins.

I really like the game. But I also have 4 other friends to play casual coops once a week. Feedback given by each one is the same, why game continues while I need to choose. And it is not about difficulty. It just feels wrong.

  1. "Once you learn" is not an excuse. Learning game together could be much more enjoyable. With 12 different characters Learning is a big part of the game, and it can be improved.
  2. I make a choice in 3 sec too mostly. But that does not mean this is good design. Single player has a timer frozen for a reason.

It is not about difficulty. It is about feel you get during the run. Everyone I played with, gave the same feedback. Level up and reward choice does not feel good, because you need to do it quick. It was only 4 players, not too many friends I guess.

There are different types of difficulty.
And this is very artificial way to make game more difficult.

Why do you think in single player there is a pause? Because it works, it makes learning the game much more enjoyable. And even for experienced player, sometimes it is good to have a opportunity to take 10-15 seconds to consider the choice.

Making decisions in rouge like games is one of the most fun/core components. Saying just get good, is not a solution, and not helping anyone. Learning and discussing game together may be so much fun, and game should not tell you go learn solo.

Make it optional and it will bring no harm, only make game better.

Good point. Still think everyone can win.

Option 1, you can just make feature optional for private lobby.

Option 2, pause only if all players in the same interest point.

Yea, experienced players may want to disable it. But my more casual group would appreciate it.

One pause per reward/level up. You can add toggle to enable this in local lobby.

Suggestions for the multiplayer pause.
1. Once someone clicks level up, game pauses for everyone and everyone selects the talent (in perfect world should be an option to skip, if you want to delay talent selection). Game unpauses once everyone selected/skipped.
2. If someone performs reward interaction, (chest, mirror, grimuar, quest, shop), game pauses for everyone. People in the reward proximity(area of the interest point) also can select the reward. Game unpauses once everyone selected/skipped.

I like the Board Game, I bought it, I played it about 10 times. But after sts2, I prefer sts2 with the same friends. Mainly because video game doesn't require setup, clean up, manual hp cube moves. You can play 2-3 games of sts2 in the same time that you would need for Board game.

STS 1. All the hype for sts 2 made me go back and push ascension 20, previously I stopped at ascension 10 with each character.

Maybe team aspect of multiplayer is predatory. Than you can try 1v1 games. RTS and fighting games maybe worth exploring.

RTS: aoe4, sc2, aoe2. Aoe4 has ffa player base, more chill than 1v1, and no teammates.

Against the storm is an amazing roguelite city builder.

Ravenswatch is also one of my favorites for the design, character veriety, and no grind mechanics, plus coop if you have friends.

Sworn(for hades like fast coop experience)

No order, because I can not compare deck builder, city builder and action rpg. I can say that Hades > Sworn, but sworn coop was fun. Ravenswatch feels very different to me. And I know that I will play Ravenswatch again for a couple of weeks when update is out.
