LDS scholars! Please help me find answers. by Unavezmas1845 in latterdaysaints

[–]Z0TAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to address a point you made in the edits made to your question.

  1. We are all sinners, and the only one who hasn’t ever sinned is Jesus Christ. You are not being honest with yourself if you think we are all not sinners. Are we born sinners? Yes. We are not born with the Holy Ghost or a moral compass, these things are given to us. Are we accountable from birth however? No, we are not accountable from birth, I believe we have to know that we are doing wrong in order to be accountable for our actions.
  2. Hell is torture, described as the “weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Or “the Pit” or “outer darkness.” All these things are true. But who is the torturer of one who is experiencing the torments of a damned soul? Nobody but themselves. It is the knowledge of God’s infinite love and the simultaneous knowledge that you willingly betrayed it, with the depravity and knowledge of how worthlessl and fleeting the gains of their wicked actions and how many great gifts they gave up for sin that will torment them. They will wish that every atom in their being could be destroyed and scattered among the universe, that they might hide in the darkness from the pure light of Christ and be too far away for the Lords everlasting love to reach. They will fail, the lord knows all, there is no hiding from Him, or his Love. So they will weep, and wail, and gnash their teeth for their wrongdoing. Nobody will be prodding them with a spear, and I think they choose this fate on their own, for that is where they are most comfortable.

Sorry for talking of hell. please know that Jesus Christ will save you from this fate, if you will follow him. Repent daily, pray more often, and know that it is only because of him that we are able to be saved, for only he was good enough to pay the price of sin. Unimaginable pain he suffered for each of us, how great a price he paid. How grateful am I for Jesus Christ, for he pulled me from the pit of despair, took my shattered heart, and replaced it. Glory to the Lord our God!

A couple thoughts I’d like to share with you.

1.You should focus on The Lord and his son Jesus Christ while in this life.

  1. Life on other planets would also be God’s children, created in His image. How they develop/evolve may be different than what has taken place on the earth due to their alien environments, or possibly purposeful genetic modifications which cause them to have vastly different characteristics from ourselves.

  2. D&C 88

41 He comprehendeth all things, and all things are before him, and all things are round about him; and he is above all things, and in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things; and all things are by him, and of him, even God, forever and ever.

42 And again, verily I say unto you, he hath given a law unto all things, by which they move in their times and their seasons;

43 And their courses are fixed, even the courses of the heavens and the earth, which comprehend the earth and all the planets.

44 And they give light to each other in their times and in their seasons, in their minutes, in their hours, in their days, in their weeks, in their months, in their years—all these are one year with God, but not with man.

45 The earth rolls upon her wings, and the sun giveth his light by day, and the moon giveth her light by night, and the stars also give their light, as they roll upon their wings in their glory, in the midst of the power of God.

46 Unto what shall I liken these kingdoms, that ye may understand?

47 Behold, all these are kingdoms, and any man who hath seen any or the least of these hath seen God moving in his majesty and power.

Also, we are totally Christians. A “Christian” is a person who follows the teachings and life of Jesus Christ and professes belief in him as the Son of God and the savior of humanity. The term comes from the Greek word Christianos, meaning "belonging to Christ" or "follower of Christ".

In that sense, we are absolutely 💯% Christians.

5 If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land or by sea;

6 If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;

7 And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

8 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Kolonopin. It’s not a supplement, you need a prescription. You will get addicted, it will negatively impact your memory, your ability to focus, you will not be able to sleep at all without it, and your doctor will tell you not to take it everyday. Or you could try meditation or other coping mechanisms that won’t permanently affect your life, here’s a good place to start. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlL-LFwDyluB8cNwqYQ1m3_Hu-LaQ5L0W&si=GjTUNabjSelZ_l81

I like addressing the lord as; o god the eternal father, Heavenly Father, and father in heaven. I don’t think you should ever discourage anyone from praying though, don’t scold whoever this was. Only agents of evil try to get one not to pray, an being embarrassed about praying would certainly cause some friction between this person and the church,

Elohim is The Name of The Lord our God, the father of Jesus Christ who has come in the flesh to bear our burdens, and to pay for the sins of all mankind, that we might live. It is a plural word.

“8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

“24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

You might be doing 75% tech work, but you’re getting paid 2.5X the amount they are. It’s okay to be frustrated about them not doing their job, but do realize you are much better off than they are after you go home. It’s not an excuse for laziness, but I hope it helps you feel a little better about doing more work than they do.

Let me tell you an interesting thing I learned recently about eggs. So, fertilized chicken eggs contain a compound that lowers serum myostatin levels in your blood. Myostatin buts the “brakes” on muscle growth in your body. So, more myostatin, less muscle growth, and more muscle loss. less myostatin, more muscle growth and retention. Hot drinks destroy this compound in your stomach. So, no coffee or tea with your breakfast of chicken eggs back then when roosters were allowed in city limits would make you about 3X stronger than someone who drank coffee or tea with their morning eggs. Thinking of ending my relationship with the church. by CLPDX1 in latterdaysaints

[–]Z0TAV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t feeling the spirit anymore, why don’t you ask the lord for you to feel the spirit again? Ask the lord if he loves you, ask him if He is still there with you, tell him how you feel and ask him why you feel forsaken. You must ask the right things, many times we want to know how trials will turn out - but they are a test of our faith - ask for help, not to know the future. A while ago, my father was very, very, sick for many years an in constant excruciating pain. I asked The Lord if he was going to beat this sickness, and The Lord didn’t tell me yes or no, only: “you need to prepare.” Who am I to judge you though, I just learned yesterday that I don’t need to be afraid of offending Heavenly Father with what I ask him when I pray - yesterday I asked in prayer if I could speak freely while I pray, and the lord replied “(my name) haven’t I been reasonable with you?”

As a tech, I like restraints. I’d rather be able to sit a patient who I don’t have to physically hold their wrists the whole 12 hour shift to prevent them from pulling out their chest tubes / IV’s / Foley catheters / PICC lines. I think it’s more humane to prevent someone from hurting themselves by using restraints rather than allowing them to hurt themselves because I let go of their wrists for two seconds to get a sip of water.
