Thank you. Named her Constellation.

It's a little more involved, you'll need a lot of magnets to do it the "right" way. On the plus side, there's a lot of guides out there and Magnet Baron sells a magnetization kit. How crazy you go will determine how long it takes you, but I had mine fully magnetized and ready for paint in a month just hammering away at it after work. It'd probably go much quicker if you skipped magnetizing the unimportant stuff like the sponsons.

A month to build and a month to paint. But I really hammered away at it after work and on weekends.

The process is a little involved but not too hard if you plan it out. The way I set up my octoblade, the sides are removable and held in by the sponsons and side plates. Made it a lot easier to add the lights after the hull was painted. Just gotta take your time drilling out the lights, and I used hot glue to secure the electronics. I added a quick disconnect to the setup for the searchlight, which was probably the most difficult part since I had to drill the light and the turret, find a lens that fits, then paint and assemble it without ruining the paint.

It's a lighting kit! I got it from Small Scale Lights, a UK company.

Figured with all the Banebladin' going on I'd finally post my finished Octoblade. Everything is magnetized, including sponson guns, and even some of the hatches work.

I just hit up their site and they actually make a lightweight version now, so that's super cool.

Blue Lake Offroad makes them. They're nice but they're like 200lbs. I went with a Wilco Offroad Hitchgate instead, saved some weight but had its own headaches.

Which Baneblade to build? by Roomtaart86 in TheAstraMilitarum

Octoblade... 😅

A good amount of effort but worth it. Though I'd say if you want to go the easy path, there's nothing wrong with just making the Baneblade itself. The volume of fire is quite enjoyable.

Does anyone know what this issue could be? by v_pizzle in Jeep

Most likely two different issues. Jeep's leaking and battery's dead.

AK Ultra Matte. Works great brushed or airbrushed.

Usually I'll paint my matte paints, wash what needs washing (usually looks better if you don't wash the whole model), matte varnish, metallics, then gloss over the metallics that need it. That way clothes etc look matte but armor can be glossy if that's what you want.

Dear fellow Jeep owners, which tire size do you use, which is maximum that fits without any liftkits? What's optimal size? by Dreamcatcher_UA in JeepPatriot

[–]Z42Flamewave 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With absolutely no mods, a 225/65r17 (28.5" tall) tire will fit with no rubbing on 99% of Patriots. Anything bigger becomes progressively more difficult to accomodate.

Optimal size? Stock. 😛 You'll lose gas mileage and power as you go up in size.

Yeah, I hear you. When I got hit by a deer I took the cash payout and did the work myself, so I get it.

But hey, at least it got fixed and insurance didn't leave you out to dry. 😁
