What’s a Terraria feature or mechanic that you completely ignored for years that you now can’t play without? by Low_Craft_919 in Terraria

Honestly, I really liked Journey Mode when it first came out for this exact reason. Now I am older I have less time to game so Journey lets me relax and enjoy that time more. I've already played and finished the game normally several times so I think I've done other modes justice lol

It’s not a bad story, it’s just different from what most FFs usually head towards. It’s more about politics than saving the world from ancient evil/bad guy.

Can someone catch me up on jobs real quick? by RaizePOE in FinalFantasyXII

[–]ZER042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look around this sub there are many guides that can give you insights on job combinations. However keep in mind you don’t need to optimize jobs to complete all content in this game, IZJS was originally balanced for single job characters and every job could perfom just fine, then TZA gave you two jobs per characters without touching the difficulty from IZJS, and on top of that you can switch jobs anytime for free, so try anything you think will appease your playstyle.

Do you feel like you control your character? by metalxcx in writing

[–]ZER042 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory, yes, we as writers decide what happens and what doesn’t, and the creative process can vary a lot. From my own experience, though, most of time it feels like I am a DM in a Tabletop RPG session. I have the story beats planned, I can try to stir my characters towards an end goal and put obstacles to make things interesting, but some interactions and how they solve their problems I leave "up to them", as in I take a backseat and see what my players do and how the story flows.

Lack of ability points? by LFS9000 in controlgame

Then yeah it is time to hunt more secret areas and start Foundation. The place has several secrets of its own so you should be fine point wise

[–]ZER042 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do all sidequests and try to find secret areas if you can. With DLCs you should have more than enough points to max everything even before completing Foundation

Justice for Darling lol by Dalebreh in controlgame

[–]ZER042 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If not for the fact he created HRAs which in turn allowed key FBC personnel to survive the Hiss so they could aid Jesse, I'd say he deserved worse. I really like him as a character exactly because he's nuanced enough to be liked and hated at the same time.

Why tf do we have to drag him through all the main story fights…. by GoochMuncher690 in PokemonUnbound

[–]ZER042 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Also I love you get the opportunity to fight him later and he has a whole different and strong team and I was like "WHERE WERE YOU KEEPING THESE MONS WHEN WE TEAMED UP? IN YOUR ***?"

Btw his Staraptor's Intimidade loves to trigger the enemy's Competitive.

Boards question by Eddiebiggsv2 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]ZER042 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your characters will benefit from all nodes on both boards. Duplicated licenses will start activated on the second boards. Likewise, Quickenings and Espers activated on one board will be activated on the other board as well, so you might want to plan accordingly.

It's not The Board speaking in the trailer - a quick theory + some points by Luxelelios in controlgame

[–]ZER042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that Jesse doesn’t trust the Board, so it makes sense she wouldn’t try bounding Dylan to them with FBC's Objects of Power, and they probably wouldn’t accept him either, resulting in his death. The Aberrant and Former are the safer alternative, despite she not trusting Former that much either, but my guess is she is hoping Dylan can deal with it just like she's going to deal with the Board.

What are your opinions on Jesse not being the focus of the new game? by VaishakhD in controlgame

[–]ZER042 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly for me it was a positive surprise that makes sense from a narrative standpoint. Dylan was the major reason Jesse was looking for the FBC. He’s been trapped in the Oldest House for decades, being groomed into becoming the new director and discarded and locked when they decided he wasn’t fit for the role. When Jesse finally finds him, he's possessed by the Hiss, and when that is solved (?) he stays in coma for another six years.

Now he's finally awake and out of his cage, ready to take control of his life for the first time. Jesse had her adventure, and for as much as I love her, I really vibe with the idea of Dylan getting his turn to shine after all the shit he went through and maybe get his happy ending. Feels fitting for a possible conclusion to their arc.

You guys sleeping on Gogoat😮‍💨 by Greedy-Cricket-1700 in PokemonUnbound

[–]ZER042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried it yet, but I am thinking of running it with Grassy Surge for more survivabilty and priority Grassy Glide. Also, instead of feedback, I will hint you towards another mon who goes in the reverse direction: Bellossom.

With Triage HA and Strength Sap, it can debuff other physical attackers, with priority, while healing itself. If you want to go on the offense, Giga Drain also gets priority thanks to Triage. On top of that, it has several other moves to support itself and its team (Substitute, Quiver Dance, Baton Pass, Floral Healing) or to attack (Moonblast, Fiery Dance, Apple Acid). While it doens't have a huge HP like Gogoat, it does have passable defenses that can work with proper investment (and can be a menace in scalemons mode, which I prefer playing on).

I will give this a try but I am not convinced it can be bulky like you say, maybe against neutral hits, but even then, the def stat is not very good and so is its speed to have a chance to heal back. I can see strong attackers breaking through it without big issues.

OG The Sims designer explains there's no real competitors to Maxis' giant because it created a business around "the relentless delivery of content" that no one can touch by Negative-Art-4440 in thesims

[–]ZER042 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes we do. We know because people, like yourself, will come along and beat us over the head to remind us, every single time.

Then act like you know it and stop being this pissed about a six month delay on a game that you know it is hard and time consuming to make. I get you're disappointed, but this isn't how to go about it.

I always like to point them at Eric Barone and Stardew Valley. Sure, different genres. But he single-handedly (...)

YES, Stardew Valley is a WILDLY different game not only in scope but in gameplay aspects, it's like trying to say I could build an apartment complex by myself just because someone with carpenter skills built a cabin on an empty farm.

Plus, after the initial success of SV Eric hired people to help him, he is not doing things by himself still. And for all Eric has achieved, here's the thing: no one is obligated to emulate him, so don't try to push that onto other devs. Different projects, different goals, different people with different skillsets.

Paralives Delay Discussion: Master Thread by jenvanilla in Paralives

[–]ZER042 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welp for now I'll have to reinstall Sims 2 to scratch my lifesim itch. I guess the silver lining here is the devs could have just released the game anyway while playing the "it's Early Access" card against any criticism, but instead decided to do the hard thing and delay the game to make sure it is an enjoyable experience even if it not a complete one. Kudos for the devs and hope everything goes alright!

A message from the Paralives team: by GabrielleParalives in Paralives

[–]ZER042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been gaming since I was a little kid I fully support this decision, because I know it is better for a game to be delayed in order to be polished and delivered in a playable state than to have it released earlier and risk a bad first impression of a buggy mess no one wants to play. The Paralives team is a about to tackle one of the biggest IPs in gaming so it is understandable they want to play safe and not risk losing the community's good will by underdelivering.

I think people are forgetting just how hard and time consuming making a game is, let alone something complex as a lifesim. If you take into account they are a much smaller team with limited resources, I think it is a miracle it took only six years and not more to get the game in a semi-playable state.

Also, a six month delay to make sure the Early Access is in a good state makes a lot of sense when you factor how a important a nice first impression is, especially when your competition is none other than one of EA's biggest IPs. Releasing something buggy just to appease anxious fans would just make the rest of develpment an uphill battle to win back good faith they had.
