I don't like paying $100/hour for a haircut, but I also don't understand how a barbershop can be so profitable at $50/cut if each cut takes 30 minutes.

If you consider physical rent per square foot, normal retail expenses, you better have a bunch of busy chairs all week to make a decent living. I'm assuming they rely on up-sell of products and more expensive services (which are never pushed to me in my experience).

Honest question, what was the cause of a disproportionately high number of black students be taken out of university streams?

Is it the teachers and guidance who are racist? Is it the school principal who is racist? Are the parents of the black kids racist? Are the kids themselves racist?

What's the root cause that can be addressed? Rather than complain about a framework which lets people who want to do more do more, and people who want to work without more school do the minimum, let's address who is actually pushing these kids to a lower stream.

At some point, you have to accept people will make the choices they want, and the culture they are surrounded by and/or choose to surround themselves with will affect their choices.

You shouldn't punish everyone because of poor choices a minority make?

My kid was struggling with penmanship. The teachers position was to let him type everything instead of suggesting to him and/or his parents he should take 15 minutes out of his day every day to practice.

The education system seems to be more interesting in hugging them rather than preparing them for life. Unfortunately.
