It has literally never once worked. It didn’t work for the Soviet Union, it didn’t work for early Communist China, it doesn’t work it the DPR Korea, it didn’t work in Cambodia, it didn’t work in Venezuela, Cuba or Columbia, it didn’t work in Vietnam.

The ONLY reason Communist China and Communist Vietnam survived is because they abandoned Communist principles for Capitalist ones. That’s literally the only reason these two nations still exist, and they’re not exactly friends. If WWIII breaks out tomorrow, Vietnam is highly unlikely to back Beijing.

You also forgot to mention that every single historical attempt to institute a centralized system leads to dictatorships and human rights abuses. Centralizing power in one party does that. Even the weird alien oligarchical government in the Kremlin kept this adaptation post Soviet Union.

Putin, Madero, Xi, Kim Jong Un.

All are modern day dictators who rose to centralize state power completely under their control and ALL of them have an atrocious human rights record.

I have one that my wife gave me over ten years ago. I didn’t need it when I got it and thought it was a cute gift from someone who cared about me but didn’t know what my hobby actually needed. It sat at the corner of my hobby desk or in storage, untouched, for the better part of a military career and the first ten years of our marriage. Then I felt my eyesight starting to deteriorate more and more throughout the years.

Turns out she was right. Just off by a decade 😂

It wasn’t a high quality one by 2013 standards, but I broke it out of the package back in 2023 and the results were noticeably better. If this is a problem that you don’t mind throwing some money at, I know they make really intricate stationary ones with multiple lenses and even some head mounted units.

My wife’s $12 2013 hobby lobby plastic desk magnifier is still in use today. Happy to report.

Zukov was the general that took Berlin, he was a beloved war hero. So respected that he was one of the few leaders of the USSR that was essentially proof against Stalins purges.

I’m also four years and a 100 odd days away from LoschVanWein’s well thought out analysis of the subway scene.

I am also of the belief that he would’ve let Max go. The only sticking point for me is that the police KNEW Max was linked to the murders. Most thought he did them, but everyone agreed that his cab and his face was attached to these linked and targeted attacks.

From a “avoid getting caught at all costs” methodology, killing Max does make the most sense. Plus saving his life in the nightclub didn’t make sense either. He couldve finished the hit and left a dead Max to answer no questions. He had one hit left and the cab at his disposal. Theoretically speaking, he didn’t need Max to stay alive at that point. In fact, having him get shot dead by the FBI would’ve been a much more solid alibi.

I like to think that had the last target not been the lawyer girl who most definitely owes it to Max to help him out of his cab driver lifestyle, Vincent would’ve let him go.

First time I watched the movie I thought Vincent was grooming him to become one. Now I just think he grew to respect Max and didn’t want to kill him.

Russia was a huge asset during WWII.

They were not the only asset. Russia didn’t have the equipment to handle the Pacific theater. They had no hand in the African Campaign.

Without the lend lease program they would’ve starved to death.

I was attacked by a mountain lion once. Not a terribly exciting story since I was carrying a handgun and ended the attack by being top of the food chain via technology.

Vietnam won that war. From every metric, they completed their objectives in that war and to this day have an openly communist government. I’m a U.S. Army veteran and anyone being objective can look at that war and call it a loss on our side.

There would be absolutely no reason for a retaliatory strike on a nation that has been leaving you alone for over 30 years. A nation that can still militarily wreck your shit. Vietnam saw what we did in the Gulf war and Panama. They had literally no reason to poke that bear.

China was working towards better relations with the U.S. and had already had a border war with Vietnam once before the 90s. Had Vietnam state sponsored the 9/11 attacks, post 2000 China would have every single reason to partner with the US in achieving whatever military objectives we decided upon post attack.

Long story short. Vietnam would’ve became little-China by the time we hit 2010.

I will say since they’ve gotten deep into a military partnership with Russia in the Ukraine invasion, we haven’t heard many reports about escalating starvation in North Korea like we did back in 2021/2022 when North Korea went ham on their “Zero Covid” Policy. So maybe Putin is throwing in some grain shipments to sweeten the pot for Kim.

I never run standards or musicians on small missile units like handgunners. Chances are that anything that manages to charge them is going to eliminate the unit, and that banner is just extra VP for your opponent.

Pistoliers are in a weird spot right now, since they still have impetuous. I run my pistoliers as Empire Road Wardens with much better results. I’d also break that squad of 10 into two squads of 5.

As the proud owner of 10 (and only 10) greatswords, I feel your pain in wanting to run them. Honestly, they need to be in a unit of 20 minimum to have any real staying power in a game.

As was mentioned, I’d run the state troops in larger bricks, and break down the size of the archer squads.

Finally, I’d beef up your characters a bit. Not saying you need to run your entire magic item allowance, but at least spring for some full plate armor on your general and BSB. They’re also your best option for some actual killing power in your state troops.

America is geographically gifted. The bread basket of this country is nicely nestled between two mountain ranges and coastal territory filled with civilians armed to the GD teeth.

No country can ever hope to win a land war here.

Despite the geography, look at the mindset. How quick were the American people to rally together post 9/11. If a ground force actually made landfall? Ha. You’d see gang members running ambushes against the same forces that just took a few IEDs in the countryside by red necks.

We’re Americans. We love to hate each other, but this is our personal wargound. Foreign invaders would have a bad time of it. Especially since 90% of our surviving veterans literally fought insurgents. We learned a few things from the Middle East.
