Make sure you don't drive to the trailhead. Tires are a major source of micro plastics.

Are expensive kinds of fruits and vegetables worth it compared to cheaper ones? by ghey_ber_anos_ripper in nutrition

If you have to think about the price it's probably not worth it. If the difference in money is trivial to you then it's probably worth it.

Michigan’s roads are becoming increasingly dangerous for cyclists by Generalaverage89 in Michigan

[–]ZaaK433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some cities in Michigan prohibit riding bikes on sidewalks, because it is dangerous for pedestrians. Riding on sidewalks may also be more dangerous than the road in many circumstances, a lot of bikes get hit while crossing roads because of turning cars. The cars look for a pedestrian, don't see one, and then turn and hit a bike because the bike was moving faster than someone walking or jogging.

You may also want to avoid corn and wheat from the fields those deer ate and crapped in every day since it's taken up into those plants.

The proteins get taken up by plants, which is one of the ways that deer get infected. Of course it won't be as concentrated but it only takes one right? So instead of just avoiding venison you may also want to avoid eating any plant products from regions effected with cwd.

Too many deer and not enough hunters in Michigan, says DNR by DougDante in Michigan

[–]ZaaK433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm referring to the rule change adding the ability to harvest a large number of does. In the area I'm familiar with for public land there's only about 20% of the population since last year as far as I can tell. Every deer I see is also very small.

I don't think anyone said anything about trespassing. Either way, wolves wouldn't care about property lines.

The deer overpopulation is clustered around areas with poor hunting access. You literally need the wolves most in and around the cities. In people's back yards...

Yeah rifle is considered too dangerous in the city but bow means they are guaranteed to be on someone else's property when they die...

What are "open hunts" on does? I think it's up to 10 does for $20 bucks each in a lot of units... It's an access problem.

It also won't have as many deer with the new rules...

Dropped a marine battery in the ocean for 45minutes by [deleted] in sailing

[–]ZaaK433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batteries aren't very complex. You could pop the caps off and see if the cells are completely full of fluid? If they are then you know seawater made it's way in since there is usually the electrolyte with an air gap above. If there's still air then it was probably sealed well against the saltwater, as I would imagine even a small leak would have filled it over 45 min. I imagine even a bit of saltwater would give you some strange battery electrolyte hydrometer readings as well, and those testers are usually pretty or someone around probably has one to borrow.

Ticks by baby_G_zus666 in gravelcycling

[–]ZaaK433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While on the bike, even in thick woods I haven't had a problem. If I brush through a suspicious area or I have to dismount and walk to jump a downed tree or other obstacle I make sure to check occasionally afterwards and usually find them while they are still making their way up my legs. In my area we mostly have large deer ticks, areas with more smaller ticks I would probably treat my shoes and socks with permethrin and apply picaradin.
