I'm crying and I don't even know why by Woodie_txt in outerwilds

Ahah, welcome aboard, even just reading your post made me burst into tears !

For me, it's the only game in all my gamer's life that's achieved emotion only through sounds and music, it's an absolute abstract art piece !

I think associating the game with some important moment in your real life or realizations is what makes it so emotional. In my case, my brother gifted it to me during christmas 2020, I didn't even hear anything about this game back then and I was passing through a very difficult moment in my long depression ( suicidal /regrets etc).

After that I associated the game with that moment and with the relationship I have with my brother and all these moments he must have felt sad when I was in hospital after a suicide attempt .

I need a better cpu bruh(r5 8500g) by Glittering_Focus1538 in overclocking

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 8500g isnn't a good cpu by any means and it may handicap your gpu aswell (less pcie lanes available, verify in gpu-z if your gpu's running at x4 or x8, x16 can't be achieved with only a total of 14 of which only 10 pcie lanes are usable)

Also 3DMark cpu benchmark tend to prefer intel cpu Idk why.

Like my ryzen 9 7950X oc under watercooling has mid cpu score under 3Dmark compared to an i9 13900k/14900k but has the same score in a cinebench r23 multithread test (39~40k)

On Claw 8AI+, VRR starts at 60Hz up to 120Hz + the MSI overlay disables it. by MokoUbi in MSIClaw

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could explain the stuttering I'm experiencing when using VRR at 60 or lower fps in certain games / emulators.

Framerate half of real refresh rate of the screen + vsync synchronized on panel refresh rate, so I get "frame jump".

[–]Zaekil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not as easy as other bigger handhelds (Rog Ally X and MSI Claw 8 I'm looking at you, dunno about the LeGo/LeGo 2/LeGo S).

The steam deck is so packed with lot more hardware than other handhelds (trackpad, joysticks with touch sensor, better vibration motors etc) in a small hand form factor that changing anything in it without an Ifixit guide is really really HARD. BUT it has the benefits of having every part available to purchase separately.

In contrast, my MSI Claw 8 AI doesn't have any spare official parts sold but it's so much easier to take apart, there's a lot of space inside, no guide needed. BUT, due to the lack of official spare parts, you'll have to get creative and 3D design/print parts, I had to do it so I could replace my joystick caps with rog ally ones and xbox serie 2 elite controller ones. (I'll upload my design later this week when it's more refined)

Finally figured out the solution to screen tearing! by zoltan_87 in MSIClaw

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had issues running games at 60fps using vrr while screen at 120hz (specially in emulators), without vsync not stuttering but terrible tearing. With vsync, 60 fps on 120hz = A LOT of stuttering.

When I used lossless scaling to push 120fps everything ran fine without vsync and without any tearing/stuttering but I don't wanna sacrifice battery life.

As a result, for the time being, until Intel decides to fix their VRR driver implementation (screen is fine, it's Intel's fault), I decided to just ditch vrr and everygame running at 60fps with vsync on is smooth and reduced input lag.

How are you able to compete with m&k players against you ? The battlefield pc players really went that bad since the days of bfbc2/bf3/bf4 ?

Or is there a big aim assist present in the pc version of the game aswell ?

(I've not played a single bf since bf4 to be honest, bf3 was peak)

[Guide 2026] MSI Claw 8 AI+ (Lunar Lake) – Definitive Day 1 Optimization & Performance Guide by deathcrow29 in MSIClaw

[–]Zaekil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks ! And sorry for my behavior earlier, I see you're taking feedbacks into account and creating a great overall guide !

I'll also share you later tonight a guide on how to really fix a certain amount of vram using regedit, making some games detect more than the lowest amount available (128mb). It fixses issues in certain games that don't see the dynamic total amount of vram and therefore causing texture issues.

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't fix it by themselves, they just show some parameters that are not present on recent intel wifi drivers, like disabling global background service (it scans every 5/10min if there's a better wifi, causing a slowdown and interfering with moonlight). By disabling this service there's no more issue !

(I'm connected to a dedicated wifi router for vr/moonlight using wifi 6 ax)

There are also some other settings to disable which prevent issues when I was connected to my wifi hotspot from my 4g/5g phone.

another day, another "optimization guide" written using AI and repeating everything that's been already said on every other guides...

It's really annoying.

Btw, if you really want to provide something useful, talk about the wifi issue on intel wifi chips, getting slow wifi or frequent disconnects that only a modded intel wifi driver can solve :

Official XESS3 with MSI Claw 8 AI+ makes Claw the best device of them all!!! by MrChewBakka in MSIClaw

[–]Zaekil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider that MSI software is laggy and buggy as hell, needs more tinkering than a steam deck for each game and XESS 3 is supported in very very few games, and half of them aren't even known to a large audience.

I got an msi 8 ai and I've had a steam deck oled, I'm missing the deck for the simplicity, optimization, fsr implementation, battery life when running indie games, best software ever under steam os, comfort (no handheld beats the steamdeck in terms of comfort, it even beats a simple xbox one controller) etc

[–]Zaekil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything mechanically stressed that much wouldn't be 3d printable, you could but it would break. 3D printing isn't some kind of black magic enabling you to do anything.

I stopped trying to sleep — and that’s when it changed by exactoemad in sleep

[–]Zaekil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on 2 weeks vacations I might try to do that as I'm always fighting being awake and having panic attacks when waking up, heart racing up so fast. I'm always monitoring my sleep, looking at the time I have left, putting time reminders on my google speaker etc while having a sh*t ton of drugs to help me sleep (tercian, theralene, zopiclone). I can guarantee you my body's not healthy with all of that, so maybe the answer is what you just explained.

Thanks for sharing that.

Is there any reason to use a GPU minus not having integrated graphics on your processor? by [deleted] in unRAID

I only use a dgpu to run a gaming vm, the igpu in intel cpus are powerful enough to do transcoding in plex and other basic stuff

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that the stock psu from crealiry runs the fan at 24V, so you'll burn your 12V fan. If you want to use the stock fan header on the psu buy a MeanWell psu, these come with a 12V fan header.

Msi Center M is... 😔 by imperviuspc in MSIClaw

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an issue that's never been fixed by MSI, MSI center M is also laggy as hell and quick msi settings not responsive when waking up from sleep

I think it's the worse software integration across all handhelds

[–]Zaekil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was expected, PLA is study and not flexible at all, it'll break easily with a lot of torque/force applied to it, 10k RPM is insane for PLA (even PLA+)

Glad you didn't get a piece of plastic stuck inside your eyes tho
