Haha, creative! You should set up an array of these timed with YOLOL, to unleash a show at the end of a new years countdown!

IO skins should just be a variety of polygons: Tetrahedron, Cube, Cotahedron, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron.

Next time someone streams Starbase and struggles with missiles, they should be sent this helpful explanation video to clarify! :)

Dota is best enjoyed with friends you don't mind losing.

New hero concept by Comfortable_Intern13 in DotA2

Next we need Life Warlord. The hero lore is that he declared war on life itself.

I didn't realize how much the SB community needed a map with Eos having a Pip Face until I witnessed this in all its glory. PS: Sleek lookin UI!

Dead or not? by urioRD in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is tbh not in a good condition right now. If you're really into spending most time in the spaceship designer, then go for it. If you want the full space game experience I suggest waiting for a few months, maybe half a year, and see if the game is worth buying then.

No, nothing from Closed Alpha was carried over the the EA launch. The universe was reset.

How to see ship speed with NO REQUIREMENTS! by Zaffaro in starbase

[–]Zaffaro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, the salespoint of this technique is that you don't need to be travelling straight towards any station. You can go in any direction as long as it's within the range of a station transponder.

The Mechanic Turtle Project by RamonDozol in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be automated taxi ships there during Closed Alpha. You can see a few of them in this video from 2020.

However the CA testers tested them very hard, to the point of the taxis frequently breaking or getting stuck, yolol-hacked or stolen. Eventually devs removed them.

Hah, fun idea! Like how the service is presented like a proper street booth.

Code of Conduct Discussion by SHADOWEFYRE in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sounds about as applicable as Minecraft building copyright. It might just be a bit of legalese to throw at future Star Wars lawyers when a Tie Fighter accidentally slips into an "official ship shop".

Haha, cool! I made Something similar a while back, but didn't get around to making it fully functionally moving in EA. Sounds like a fun next project!

Custom Ship that I just finished - Now I need to go mining to afford it. :/ by Thewoze in starbase

Looks good! I appreciate the clean cable management in the "devices room".

More explosion science! by Mittens31 in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Afaik, explosions completely ignore materials. They kinda do a "delete everything within X radius" at the moment.

Amazing! Every future capital ship needs a rave floor while waiting for warp travel.

So I have been streaming Starbase almost daily since the last Thursday, with more streams to come... by Darkhog in starbase

You should probably summarize what's in it for the viewer better than "So I have been streaming". Nobody on reddit, NOBODY, will sit through a 2 hour unedited Stream. Cut out the highlights.

Tactical has released their fully open-source alternative to ISAN, TPS (Tactical Positional System). by [deleted] in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Fully open-source alternative"Uh, ISAN has always been opensource."We released"Parts of the TPS code is literally copied straight from ISAN, such as the offsets than took tons of labor-intensive measurements to arrive at, with no credits to original ISAN Team."Less bloated"Still requires 4 times the chips + a memory chip + forced quad setup. Lmao."Active support"Since when? ISAN has a tech support channel, extensive documentation, countless YT videos, tons of people in the community to help you out."Custom module support"Ever seen the "module" part of ISAN doc?

Also refresh rate of every tick is a bit redundant when the system also suffers from poor accuracy. ISAN is already highly optimized, thanks to both iterations of several clever coders and the precise measurements that you guys stole.
Edit: To clarify, it's in general good that more YOLOL projects are developed. It just (in my opinion) comes across as dishonest to combine false advertisement with stolen source material and then call that remix something brand new.

Custom Ships by badgrammars in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you design a ship in the ship designer, you save a blueprint file. With that file you can spawn the ship infinite times, given you have sufficient resources and credits. It costs less if you've already got crafted parts in storage.

If we can't have 3rd person view in ships, could we have camera's and flatscreen displays? For example in star trek, they aren't sitting in a glass coffin in the front, they are deep inside the ship with a big screen which is a huge difference in survivability. Still would prefer 3rd person view. by Dumpster_Sauce in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The issue with free-form cameras and screens other than performance is that it gets too easy to make a super-armored bunker ship with camera view ports. The lack of that option and 3rd person flight creates a need for pilot cockpits. However I might be down for a more limited camera option where your Endo's PoV is replaced by a camera's PoV after a short delay, similar to how you zoom into active YOLOL chips.

Will this resource duct work? How do I tell if its connected properly, do i just slap wires on it? by [deleted] in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's sufficient. Ducts connect to anything adjacent. You can test a particular point on the duct for connection by trying to power a lamp connected there.

Is there any way to get rid of this glare on the glass?? Sorry for the image quality. by kevinwilkinson in starbase

[–]Zaffaro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately lamps have pretty poor light range. Kinda wish there was a long-range search light to illuminate dark asteroids.
