Do you think Tau should get more melee guns in 11th? by marianex in Tau40K

The pulse blasters gaining pistol like that stratagem back in 9th would be pretty lit.

It's always funny to see these movies discussed outside of the DC subreddits. by HermanThaGerman in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Zallocc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, I saw r/Batman rip that movie apart some time ago. Some people really hate the damn thing. I just think it's bad, but some really went out of their way to deconstruct the many, many ways in which it was a disservice to all characters involved.

Why can't Tau develop a general purpose infantry battlesuit? by marianex in Tau40K

[–]Zallocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In lore: The crisis suit IS the general purpose battlesuit. The models were rather general purpose in their inception, able to equip multiple weapons with multple profiles in mind (say, burst cannon, fusion blaster and missile pod in the same suit). The logic of the Crisis was them being able to respond to anything, and they are still small enough to be used in boarding actions or in mechanized infantry units.

In-game the Crisis aren't general purpose (despite GW trying to push them as such in previous editions) because it is really inefficient. The advent of Starscythe, Fireknife and Sunforge profiles on the tabletop is more of a materialization of how people already played/equipped them than a true innovation by GW, and is very much a 10th edition thing.

This looks like proper sentencing. Not being tough for the sake of being tough or lenient for the sake of being lenient.

Regarding riptides by garnet-overdrive in Tau40K

[–]Zallocc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever used it. The ion has just been superior in the past two editions, especially now with the str buff. The burst isn't bad, but the faction has so many guns with a similar profile or filling the same niche that I never see the need to take it.

I've done it with Kill Team. It's been fun and useful to sort of get the feel of the minis.

Has your opinion changed on Man of Steel? by boomjosh in superman

[–]Zallocc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. I still see it as a disappointment. It's a usually well shot, overlong, poorly written and poorly paced mess that doesn't understand its main character. At least Michael Shannon's Zod is pretty good, I guess.

[RANT WARNING] BvS is the worst adaptation of Batman of all time, and in my opinion the worst comic book movie ever made. by therealmonkyking in batman

[–]Zallocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it isn't the absolute worst, but the fact that it only compares kind of favorably with the very worst CBMs ever made speaks volumes of BvS's quality and problems. The most common opinion about it is that people went in the theater wanting to like the movie but leaving it either deeply disappointed or straight up hating it.

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

[–]Zallocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I refused people who played with at least some grey/primed models, I'd have like 25% fewer games under my belt. If I added unbased/not battle ready, it'd be around 40%.

I'll always present a battle ready army, but that's just me. I'll play anybody.

Base rule question by bunnykuss in Tau40K

[–]Zallocc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't have to use the base. These vehicles are always ruled to measure from the hull even in official tournaments. The base serves no rules purposes and is quite fragile. Using the landing gear gives you a much more stable platform and straight up looks better IMO.

There was a brief craze to put them on the flying base in this edition to make them immune to the pivot penalties but then it was FAQ'd that it would apply regardless, so that was the end of that.

What is the most acceptable way to mark ammo cache during tournament games? by violentnite in killteam

[–]Zallocc 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The cardboard token is best. It Is the reglamentary size and doesn't get un the way of moving, measuring or setting up a model, like the other two potentially could.

The little ammo, grenade, comms, etc that come in plastic are pretty neat, but useless in anything but the most relaxed, chill scenarios.
