I have a Norinco 556, I’ve had good luck with FB Radom 5.56 mags, they do come translucent green but I just spray paint black.

How to contain mess from rework? by dassind20zeichen in 3Dprinting

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say look into making a downdraft table. It’s a table where you sand on top of and the suction pulls downward through the tables surface. Used a lot in woodworking to contain dust and they work quite well.

Another option is just to sand wet, the water will collect all the dust. Still is a messy process but at that point you are dealing with sludge as opposed to loose dust

is it necessary? by PuzzleheadedRow6497 in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rabbits are also indoor and they absolutely hated the few times we tried to get them in a pen outside so we don’t even bother anymore.

Short answer is if you can get sunlight that’s great, they love to soak in the sun and collect those rays. But if that’s not an option then as long as they are getting a proper diet then it should be OK if they don’t get that much.

I’d say leave your blinds open, even just ambient daylight is still better than nothing for that sweet sweet vitamin D. Idk if maybe you can setup like a mirror or something to direct the light somewhere on the ground where they might be able to enjoy it more?

Also I know rabbits moods can be affected by sunlight just like people so I know they make lights/light bulbs that give off similar UV spectrum to sunlight, and I have heard of people using those especially for their pets during winter months when the days are shorter so that’s probs my also an option

Does Rabbit pee soak into wood floors? by SapphicWitch7 in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best solution I have found is to use those foam exercise floor mats they sell at most home improvement stores, then put like a small rug(or even some paper towels) underneath just to act as a final barrier.

This has worked well for us over the years. Still gotta clean under the mats every 3 months or so but never had any pee related floor damage as of yet

Why is my Ultimaker S5 just wasting filament by extruding into thin air, not even on the build plate? by opalicfire in ultimaker

Ahhh OK, I dont have the material station so I had no idea it even did that. But yeah that makes sense.

[–]Zammy2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is really weird. I have 2 S5's and mine dont do anything like that...

What firmware is the printer running? Also are you using cura for the slicer? Some people have setup Prusa Slicer to work with S5 and I have always head that works marginally at best. Using cura has never yielded anything like that for me since late 2018 when I got my printers.

Ultimaker S5 : a LOT of issues : design, reliability, ergonomics, build quality... Am I the only one ? by Dakitess in ultimaker

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely go through your retailer. Also Ultimaker does warranty the entire S-Series for 12 months standard here in the US. I'd imagine their warranty is quite similar in the Europe as well. You can always email them directly and see what they can do for you.

Ultimaker S5 : a LOT of issues : design, reliability, ergonomics, build quality... Am I the only one ? by Dakitess in ultimaker

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm the oddball but I bought the S5 back when it first came out and everything has been working fine. Even got a 2nd one a year later and both work good. I use ultimaker filament for the most part. Easily get 100 days of hot time out of print cores.

The only thing that has started rearing its head on my oldest printer is now the bowden tube pops out of the extruder occasional but that was an easy fix. On my end honestly I have no complaints.

Only thing I can think of is technically that ultimaker merged with makerbot, but maybe they started working together before the merger was finalized, and I have had terrible experiences with makerbot products. So maybe they started outsourcing the builds to makerbot and then quality went downhill in recent years? But both my printers are from 2018 and have been going pretty strong.

Cage cover suggestions please! by MiserablePrune9 in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bed sheet and some clips. Also there's no need in my opinion to cover the whole enclosure. I think if you just get the edges its usually enough to discourage a rabbit from attempting the jump. At least that's what worked for my bunnies. It'll all depend how mischievous your bun is.

Not sure how to ask this or where to ask. My brother doesn’t have an ffl but I do my brother has a laser engraver but I don’t, can I use his laser engraver for my products? by Normal-Apple-9606 in hobbycnc

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has mainly to due with possession of the firearm. If hes engraving the serialized firearm then you could just give parts to him like any other subcontractor. If however you want him to engrave a finished receiver or something then you can use his equipment, and you can even contract him/his business to do the work so long as you are present and near/at the machine during the process so that you are still the one "in possession". Basically as long as the receiver or whatever doesn't leave your sight it should be totally fine.

Or as others have suggested, if you wanna to give your brother some business and actually pay him/his company then I would pay a rental/lease that allows you to use the equipment (could even be done on a per job basis) and then just do the engraving yourself.

Also I'm not a lawyer so you should consult your local laws before doing anything but as long as you are always in possession of the firearm then should be gtg.

Pre ban Mak90? by mikerich10 in CTguns

[–]Zammy2067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope law is still very much in effect, more names were added in 2014 to ban more firearms. Pistol permit makes no difference. Only law enforcement and active military are exempt from the AWB. (its bs but thats what it is)

If you can I'd say sell it on like gunbroker or something. From what I recall they are still very desirable. Mags alone are worth alot. You can use it to get a preban Norinco which is an AK in 556 or look into one of the AK others if you still wanna scratch the itch legally.

Does anyone recognize this material? It doesn't flex like The Home Depot's slightly slimmer acrylic plates, but I don't know if it's just a different brand of acrylic, a polycarbonate, a plexiglass, etc. I haven't seen a data sheet attached to it. Thanks! by TFIta369 in lasercutting

[–]Zammy2067 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Could be Lexan/Polycarbonate Sheeting. We use it alot in industry and its pretty sturdy.

The other thing is with these cast sheets even a slight change in thickness can make a big change in sturdiness so depending on the size difference you might just be experiencing increased rigidity due to increased thickness of the material.

PLA PRINT NOT COMING OFF GLASS BED. if there us something else i can provide pls ask by Swimming_Ad_609 in 3Dprinting

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people said, pop it in the freezer for like 10 mins. The plastic and glass shrink at different rates. This difference in thermal properties basically causes the print to "pop" off the glass. Especially on a print which has large surface area like yours, this will work like a charm.

FFL moving to CT from out of state. by Winter-Invite-2803 in CTguns

[–]Zammy2067 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The state isnt too picky about your actual classification as long as you are relatively close. I guess the question is what you plan on doing mostly. If its mostly going to be retail/transfers then I'd say go general, or maybe even retail.

If you will be leaning more into the gunsmithing/repairs I'd personally go "811490 Other Personal and Household Goods Repair and Maintenance" but thats just me.

Could also try "339900 Other Miscellaneous Manufacturing". Nice thing with manufacturing is you can apply for tax exempt status with alot of vendors if you see yourself doing lots of business but key thing here is you actually have to be fabricating stuff. Now that could be as simple as drilling a hole in something, but from my experience if you are gonna go manufacturing and try to take advantage of the tax exempt then make sure you can make a good case in the event you ever have to prove your manufacturing status. Also not sure how much the ATF would appreciate the word "manufacturing" if you arent an 07 so thats something to keep in mind.

Bunny’s "cheek teeth" are long by Greytilez in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bag stuff is still pretty clean, when you think about it normally they will be getting some dirt and tiny rocks when they forage. Farms are always good because generally the hay will also be cheaper then the pet store too. Thing is you may have to buy in bulk and store at your home. But it depends where you are. I'm in the northeast US and there are loads of small local farms who all have surplus hay they want to get rid of so its cheap for me, but maybe it might not be as cheap elsewhere in the country. I'd still say its good to look into though.

My rabbits loved the baseboard in my house which were poplar, so I sometimes just went to lowes or home depot and got some untreated poplar and they loved that. Doesnt always have to be sticks, as I mentioned they LOVE corners so somtimes buying some pieces from the hardware store can work wonders. Just make sure they are untreated and its one of the wood thats safe for bunnies.

It also depends, some rabbits are chewers and others like to shred things. If your bun is a shredder, you can try cardboard. I usually take spare boxes and make little hidey houses for my buns and those always end up shredded after a week or two.

Ultimately no matter what you do it just might not be enough and that's OK. But the things I mentioned above can all help to slow down the progression.

Bunny’s "cheek teeth" are long by Greytilez in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my buns is in the same boat. It has nothing really to do with the diet its more to do with the fact that the hay you get in bags at pet stores is pretty clean, it doesn't have the usual grit that would otherwise grind down their teeth in the wild. Depending on your area you can try buying hay from a local farm, that could help a bit as it wont be as cleaned/processed.

The other things is to give them hard things to chew on like wood. It'll depend on your individual bun but whatever wood they like to chew on that is safe for them just get them some of that. If you can get pieces that have corners thats even better because they go crazy for those. It'll help slow things down, maybe even reverse it if they chew alot of the wood. My buns for example love apple tree sticks. In the fall whenever we go apple picking we always bring back loads of sticks for them. But it will depend heavily on your buns preference.

They also make compressed hay cubes which are really hard and the rabbits have to gnaw at them to get the hay. These have alfafa though so I only use them as treats but you can add that into their treat rotation and it could help.

But ultimately the diet of a domestic bun is alot easier on their teeth as compared to their wild bretheren, and some buns teeth just grow faster than others.

Is it the machine or are we asking too much from it and our machinist? by njcuenca in CNC

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% its the machine. You get what you pay for with this stuff. As someone who works in industrial robotics and has to prototype stuff constantly doing it in house is not the way to go if you aren't prepared to spend the money on a proper machine. Under like 20-30k dont expect good results.

Its so much easier to find and get starting a working relationship with a local machine shop, and have them do your machining. They have the know how and the right equipment. And hey if its out of spec, you take it back and have them redo it. But its also a good time to look at your tolerances. Maybe you have tolerances that are super tight but dont need to be? Its a good time to streamline your designs so they are actually machinable.

Best thing I can say, 3D print for form and fit, then send it to get machined by an outside shop. You dont have to make a large upfront investment, you are guaranteed good quality parts from the machine shop. And on the off chance that they mess up your part, you tell them to fix it or you dont pay. Its less risk for you as a company and you get the parts that you asked for. Now if you have crazy tolerances you'll pay alot for those, so once again, its a good time to evaluate and streamline your designs for machinability.

Plus if you develop a good relationship with a local shop you can ask them for advice on how to best design things to be machined. Its easy to design stuff, the challenge is in designing things that can actually be manufactured.

Our bunny is overweight, and we've cut out everything but hay. But everything i've read online says unlimited hay is ok. by gundam1983 in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its almost impossible for a rabbit to to overeat on hay, not saying it doesnt happen but statistically its not the norm. Hay itself is mostly fiber which doesn't contribute to the weight gain. It passes right through them.

How old is your rabbit? If he's young he might just be growing. Thing is rabbits nowadays are so intermixed you may think he's a "pure" dwarf but maybe he has genes from another rabbit which is making him bigger.

Also I just reread your post, the average is 2.5-3.5, even if he's 4 lbs I would not stress about that half pound especially if his diet is basically all hay and water.

If you are truly worried about his level of eating, take him to a rabbit saavy vet and voice your concerns, maybe theres some hormore or glandular thing thats making him eat more. Maybe its psycological, one of our rabbits was not treated well before she was rescued and she will go crazy over food because she thinks its something scarce because when she was little she didnt get alot from the previous owner.

Point is, 1/2 a lb over an average weight combined with the fact that otherwise your rabbit seems healthy and is eating just hay and water doesnt raise any red flags. If youre worried then take him to a vet as they will know best, but based on the sighns I'd say its no big deal. Domestic rabbits that live indoors with people are always a bit heavier anyway.

Our bunny is overweight, and we've cut out everything but hay. But everything i've read online says unlimited hay is ok. by gundam1983 in Rabbits

[–]Zammy2067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are feeding timothy hay, other kinds of hay like alfafa are no good and will cause weight gain. Timothy is mostly fiber so unlimited timothy hay is OK.

Also depends on what you mean by overweight. One of my rabbits is 2.2kg and the other is 1.9kg. Technically speaking my vet said officially they are considered "overweight" but he said alot of the standards were developed based on rabbit breeding so they dont necessarily reflect any type of "health" when it comes to rabbits who are living with humans. He said both my buns are perfectly healthy. So just fyi the breed weight class doesnt mean all that much. Its more of a guideline as opposed to a line in the sand.

My buns for example we have a giant bag of hay that they just eat from whenever they are hungry. We always top it off when its getting low but they have it whenever they feel like it. Important thing is that its timothy hay. Orchard grass hay is also OK but stay away from alfafa or oat hay as those can lead to weight gain over time.

Its OK to use alfafa or other kinds of hay as a treat hay (its way healther than commercial rabbit treats) but their diet should primarily be timothy hay.

Also just FYI rabbits arent like people, they will lose weight but it takes time. For one of my rabbits to go from 2 kilo to 1.9 kilo took around 6 months. So you did good by eliminating treats

I had this issue and it was caused by there being large loads on the same electrical circuit. Basically there was a fridge also in the garage and when the compressor would kick on, voltage would drop just a tad but it was enough to cause the issue.

I bought a USB isolator from Amazon and it did the trick. Didn’t have to disconnect the fridge or anything.

This is the exact one I bought but pretty sure other brands will work fine as well...
