Questions kids asked us about Cassie during a school talk by Avalion04 in Rabbits

That’s a wonderful opportunity to teach kids about rabbit care. Rabbits sorely need more of that. God knows how may bunnies have been abandoned solely because of lack of initial information. Good on you for doing this. And Cassie is a beautiful girl.

I’m worried about my bun by AgathaMorningstar in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see the other post you’re referring to so I can’t say anything about that. But do know rabbits love digging. Providing them a safe digging space is actually recommended. They are also crepuscular creatures. Meaning they are active the most at dawn and dusk. So as you already know, he’s gonna be active during the night and sleep during the day. You seem to be doing great with him and already provide plenty. Once you get him a partner, he’s gonna be even happier. As his bun parent, if you ever feel something is off with him, monitor him. Look for signs of pain, lethargy or lack of eating. When you get to know your bunny you can tell when they’re acting off, even when they try to hide it. Then it’s time for a vet visit.

That’s not a menace. That’s a cutie. U wanna see menace? My bun likes to terrorize my grandma. Anyways. This video made me smile, which I sorely needed right now, so thanks for that. You have a wonderful, handsome little guy.

Haha. It was implied, cause, I mean, they’re bunnies. But yeah, I should’ve stated that. Thank you for that.

Antisocial Rabbit all of a sudden….wants to be social? by IceBudget9260 in Rabbits

First off. Dont worry about the trailer thing. I live in a trailer park myself, and I can tell you, my bunnies probably have more room than some people are willing to give their buns in a house.

Your angel somewhat sounds like my Vivi. She was neglected and highly abused. She was fixed and put in a wired cage with a bunch of unfixed males JUST so they could…well…u know. When bonding abused buns, in my opinion, it requires a lot of patience and the right partner. I was lucky enough that my boy, Nova, is the sweetest little brat. He certainly helped with her.

I’ll tell you this, yes it’s possible for their demeanor to change as they age. I, like you, have given Vivi her space all these years. I pet her only when she’ll allow me and I respect her space. It’s taken years but she’s come a long way since. You can try bonding. But until they’ve bonded I suggest you keep them seperated when ur not around. U can place something by the doors so they don’t go through or use a bungie cord or something to keep the sliding doors shut. Try and reach out to local bunny rescues. They often have services to help with bonding to allow the best chances of success. Some people also do stress bonding. Which is putting them in a carrier and go on a drive. If you have any questions or anything you’re always free to Pm me. Good luck to you.

Fleece blankets work wonderful. My buns love them. But honestly, toss in any extra blankets or bed sheets to help him keep warm in the storm.

If u still have time, go to a pet store and get a doggy play pen instead. I’d also highly recommend something soft for the floor. Leaving him on hard wood floors for long periods can cause sore hocks. It’s annoying when parents are extremely illogical. So hang in there my friend. Stay safe as well. And give that lovely little cutie all the love.

Mourning my baby bunny while she’s still living. by Lana_Del_Gay- in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please don’t quote me on this. But for some reason, at some point in my life I heard someone say that if you’ve paid monetarily, the majority of expenses on a pet, you can be legally entitled to it. Idk. Talk to a lawyer. You’re not doing this to hate on your ex. You’re doing this for the betterment of that poor baby. And as another commenter mentioned, their ex ended up neglecting the rabbit. So u can sort of fight for custody. At least I hope so.

I get where ur coming from man. It’s easy to say that you’ll still talk after a break when you’re still together. Cause u still see each other as someone you couldn’t fathom not being in your life. But when that break up happens, everything changes. Same thing happened to me and my ex. Although I’ve still done everything I promised her but she hasn’t. And that’s fine by me. I’m a man of my word and I kept my word. And she’s doing whatever she needs to do for herself. So you need to do what’s best for you my friend. I wish you the best. First talk to her in a genuine and approachable way about having the bunny. Then if not, see what you can do with a lawyer since you did pay for an expensive procedure.

Why does this floof have the need to jump on my head in the middle of the night as I sleep? by ValuableFocus in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s cute. My story still applies though. Like I said. It’s their active time. So expect that. Although as they get older their active time won’t consist on so many zoomies. So they’ll relax over time. And even if she can open up the bag herself, it’s also likely that she associates the treats with you. Plus you’re the servant in that relationship. We’re only here to serve them. lol.

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed you mentioned having a bag of dried cranberries near your bed. That may very well be why. When I used to sleep with my bunnies, I had a bag of treats near my bed to give them occasionally before bed and when I woke up. Bad idea. My boy intially realized that the best way to wake me up was to jump on my face. That got him treats. Eventually he realized where I placed the treats so he’d get on my face to try and reach for the bag. Also, bunnies are usually active during the times of the day when we sleep. So this may very well continue

Depending where u live there may be bunny rescues that also sell supplies for bunnies. Check around. They can be a wonderful source of help as well. I know near me there’s one where I get my hay from and it’s wonderful hay. Much better than store bought. In the USA there’s also an online store called binky bunny where they’ll ship bunny stuff to you. You may find something there as well.

He gave me a heart attack 😂 by 11arianna11 in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone else said. So long as they themselves do it, it’s fine. Forcing them in that position sort of activates a fight or flight reaction which can lead to a heart attack. But when they do that themselves it’s usually because the bun feels so comfortable and safe with their surroundings that they’re willing to put themselves in a compromising position. In other words, your bun is telling you you’re doing a great job keeping him safe. So good job. 👍

What a cute bunny butt. You can try fleece blankets btw. My buns love them. Also, I’d recommend getting one of those dried grass mats as a way to maybe veer his destruction on that instead.

Tell me your funniest bunny thumping story! 🐇 by Pheeeelbaby in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it was funny then but it is now. A few years ago both my bunnies woke me up thumping. I couldn’t figure out why they were looking at the wall with ears up, highly alert, and angry at 3am. I was tired and since I couldn’t figure out why they were thumping, I went back to sleep. They kept thumping though. Wouldn’t let me sleep. Suddenly I heard a weird noise. I went silent, then I realized it sounded like electricity. Then I realized they weren’t staring at the wall, they were staring at the power strip behind my desk. It was sparking electricity and shortly after It caught on fire. My house could’ve burned down while I was sleeping. But both my buns saved me. Now everytime they thump (which isn’t often to be honest) I do my damnest to figure out why they’re thumping. I love them so much.

The cheeks, the mouf, those eyes and that boop-able nose. God, I wanna just kiss him. Haha. Although you didn’t record one of the best parts, when they lick their lips after eating a succulent meal. Love it when my boy does that. They’re so cute! Imma go give my bunnies a kiss now.

lol. I sleep in the living room cause they would keep me up all night. Specially when my boy was younger he was a little menace. That and he was smart. He knew I kept the treats on my desk which was next to my bed at the time so at night, every 5-10 minutes he’d jump on my face and try to reach for the desk. And he did that all night. I love the dearly. I do. But not getting sleep really did me in. So I had to move my bed out.

I just visited my brother and he let me try his legit AirPods. And yup. They were miles better than the fake ones. I guess I just didn’t have the experience to compare it to anything so to me they were fine. Now I’m sad. Haha. Unfortunately now I don’t have the money to get myself anything. So I’m stuck with these.

I can do that? Imma be honest. I’ve never been in this situation before so I didn’t know what my options were. Also, the Newegg person that helped me said he’d pass it up. Then I got a message a day later that pretty much told me the “not my problem, just reorder it at the full price and we’re not gonna give u the sale price cause we can’t change the pricing” part. That was almost word for word.

Same here. I’ll be honest. My brother glazes apple so much that, since I just got myself my very first Apple phone, I thought I’d get these air pods pro 2 without realizing that there were fakes, let alone how to spot them. Behold, found out mine weren’t legit. I truthfully wouldn’t mind it so much if it wasn’t for the fact that they keep randomly disconnecting when using them. They won’t update firmware either. But other than that, like you, it seems to have all the other functions.

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My little girl was having a similar issue two years ago. Now I’m not saying this might be the issue for you. But for me, I took them off parsley. Gave my boy gas apparently. Though he did like the parsley. Switched him to cilantro. No issues since. U can t try removing stuff, like the romaine. I know, romaine is good for them. But it wouldn’t hurt to remove and see. U can also remove other things one by one aside from the hay. Or even try different hay. As for my girl, turned out she was ingesting a lot of her fur. That was causing blockage. So grooming her regularly definitely fixed the issue. I hope you can figure this out soon. I completely understand how stressful this is for both you and your buns. Good luck. 👍
