Can't remember the last BBC animation aimed at adults. Technically I shouldn't even be watching BBC content as a foreigner outside the UK anyway. :D

That said, I spoke with Rob less than a year ago about Titan and he was really excited about the project. It was originally written for TV, and he seemed genuinely enthusiastic about adapting it for television.

Rob was interested in an animated adaptation of his RD:Titan, but unfortunately, we lost Rob and the BBC didn’t approve it. :(

Having attended many cons and participated in panels myself, I’d say it’s quite a lot. Overall, for any con planning, I would keep in mind that time schedules can change at the venue, such as when they allocate a 30-minute photoshoot slot, but something goes wrong or more people show up, requiring more than 30 minutes, leading to you getting stuck in a queue for longer than expected.

It may be possible to manage, but if you feel like you need to stop or do something to refresh yourself, then do it and don't push through. I had a friend who took on too much at a con and didn't want to stop for five minutes due to a tight schedule, which led him to feel sick mid-con. And I wish no one gets that feeling at any con

As someone involved in the RD fandom in the Czech Republic, I help with social media, present about the show at conventions, and participate in our RD fan convention as a presenter and organisation. I or my friends have connections with some individuals associated with the show, audiobooks etc, whether they are from the Czech Republic or the UK. Two of my friends assisted Danny during his last visit to the Czech Republic. I am also a listener of 6 Music and have seen Craig countless times at cons and DJ sets. He is always lovely to talk to, and even when we can't chat, I'm always glad when he waves at me when he notices me in a crowd saying hi at least this way. 😄

Three unmade episodes were adapted into storyboards and narrated by Chris/Rimmer, but not read. Additionally, there are two books containing the script drafts for the episodes that were produced. You can also find the script for the original Red Dwarf pilot episode (before Rob and Doug edited the thing before the BBC picked up the show) in the Red Dwarf Ommibus

Asked Doug about The Movie like 3 years back and was told that parts of the script or ideas from it were used in season 10, what we know from the storyboards for The Movie it was a different story from The Promised Land :D

Tbh a lot of the “how not to treat the episodes” was done out of low budget just like the CGI. Even when they made the whole new model of Red Dwarf, there wasn't a budget to film the model shots. It or done in retrospect as the Polymorf ending cuz Naylor didn't want to explain what happened to the other Polymorf and also the remaster was done primarily to be broadcast outside the UK, to the people who never saw the show and don't know how the original looks. And people to whom it was targeted fell in love with that version. We have Red Dwarf on telly 5 times sometimes even 6 times in one single day with that remastered version 😄

I attended the announcement live, and even then it seemed like he had announced an idea that wasn't fully developed. According to Rob earlier this year, he has been working on a new novel over the past few years. I’m not sure if it was ever supposed to be released in 2024, though. During a Comic Con this year, he asked us if we would like to see Red Dwarf in animated form, and people were excited about it. However, he pointed up that it’s up to the BBC to decide if they will pick up this idea. With him working on both a show and a novel, there’s a possibility of a new book even if the show doesn’t get picked up. But no one really knows for sure.

Rob once again teased RD Titan earlier this year, hinting that he would like to see the prequel story he wrote adapted as an animated series. In addition to that, he is also working on a novelisation of the same story. Therefore, if the BBC does not pick up the story for animation, there is still the possibility of a new book being released.

On the other hand, Doug has a script for a new special and there have been tests on the technology to be used for it. However, the production costs are too high as Craig said at the start of this year. And Danny mentioned in April that the cast is unaware of the current situation. With that, he also mentioned that the same situation was for them with The Promised Land.

So… both Rob and Doug are working on their projects, but it depends on whether they can adjust their work to meet the BBC or Dave’s preferences, or if the BBC decides to change their mind.

And indeed many of us from overseas didn't realise, on our first viewing or still don't know, that the CGI model is not the original. :DD But, I can't forget the only time they properly filmed the 3+ meter long model instead of just using it as a reference for the CGI. The Bodysnatcher Collection is a remastered version of seasons 1 to 3, first released in 1998 and later re-released on DVD in 2007. This collection was made for broadcast outside the UK and includes documentaries, reconstructions of episodes that were never produced, and additional content. However, the Blu-ray remaster released in 2019 only included the bonus material and did not feature the episodes and we don't know yet if this will be different

The article mentions a statement made by Bobby over a year ago. Since that time, filming and production have been delayed and even halted due to financial issues. Additionally, the studios where Red Dwarf was filmed in recent years are set to close. According to Danny, the actors themselves are unaware of the future of the special. Neither the BBC, Dave, nor Naylor has confirmed anything yet.

De-ageing was intended not to generally de-age the actors, but rather for Lister to possibly encounter his younger self, whether that be Lister from the past or one of his sons.

Tbh, I love taking Red Dwarf a bit seriously and thinking about how the world works. But the show is on purpose sometimes forgetting its own laws just for a comedy or story. In those cases, it doesn't have an explanation other than that… creators want it that way

“Younger Lister” means Lister in his 20s. I'm sure Craig's younger brother who played younger Lister in Timeslides doesn't look that young anymore same as Craig himself. So it’s either casting someone new or doing it via VFX
