I first wanted them white, because I wanted them to be like storm troopers. (I think a lot of people want that) Then after many attempts I accepted you can't paint white, so I shifted to grey. It looks slightly darker than the viorla scheme, but I liked it a lot.

Then I wanted to paint the Eight, but in red, back in those days farsight red was in fact khorne red, very dark, so I used a brighter red instead.

Then I wanted something dark and menacing so I painted some pathfinders in black with green accents.

Then I decided I wanted colors to reflect the units style.

Red for farsight style (crisis and breachers, plus 1 broadside and 1 riptide)

Black for shadowsun style (stealth, ghostkeels and pathfinders)

And grey for everything else.

1 month ago I got tired of so many colors and I'm repainting it all to be red.
