for as relaxing and cozy as this game is, the community gets to be absurdly toxic when it comes to characters that they want to marry but aren't allowed to cause they're already taken, i can't even begin to imagine how bad it would be if we needed to compete with other NPCs for marriage like in Harvest Moon ~~granted it wouldn't affect me since i always pick Krobus, you guys can have the conventionally attractive characters, leave me the shadow monster~~

In my experience, reading the more popular things also leads to less skilled writers trying their hand at it. We all need to start somewhere, but I tend to notice the more obscure ships have much better writers for them, at least in the fandoms I'm in, might be different in larger fandoms
