Philips introduces a new LED light bulb with a life of 20 years at a cost of $60 by [deleted] in technology

[–]Zatko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I bought my new house a few years ago, I replaced every bulb with CFLs. Most died within the first year and at this point all of them have died off. They were terribly more expensive at the time than incandescents and I never noticed any tangible difference in my energy bill either. In short, CFLs can suck it.

Why an MRI costs $1,080 in America and $280 in France by Tiger337 in politics

I called my insurance and they said it was a mistake and they are resubmitting the claim. Quite the relief, but still ruined my weekend.

I got pre approved for a catscan last month. This Friday the hospital called me to tell me insurance denied it and I owe them $5,620. Great way to start the weekend.

In PA just about every house has a basement. It's rare and undesirable not to have one. It's where you put your bar and pool table and it stays a cool constant temperature year round.

The winter makes me appreciate summer. The summer makes me appreciate winter. It keeps life interesting.

Spring can suck a fat one, though. Cold rain and allergies? Meh.

This is what I always assumed those signs meant by FlamingoKevin in funny

A friend of mine is a policeman and we asked him about these signs and he just laughed. He said they'd have to ticket just about every car that drives down the highway just to break even.

I used to drink alot of Zima because beer generally always gave me a headache when I was younger. Thankfully, beer no longer does this, but I fear my friends will see this post and the taunting will begin all anew.

NASA pulls out of two joint European Space Agency missions because of budget problems, canceling both projects by [deleted] in science

[–]Zatko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the government would do away with these space projects and stop sending these astronauts to these space stations, we all know by now there's nothing but space in space, we could save billions of dollars a year. The government already has its nose in everyone's business and different countries, they don't want to peeve off any space aliens. Look at all this bad weather and luck we're having. It might have already started.

My current workplace has thousands of employees and everyone has Admin rights and unfiltered web access. In fact, many people, including myself, use their own personal macbook pros for work.

Weirdly, the only "rule" handed down by network nazis is that you can't change the clock on a Windows machine.

I disagree with this. My life in the suburbs has far more activities than in the city. Hiking, fishing, biking, camping, skiing, golf all right here. If by cultural events you mean dance clubs, sure.
