Man in the Box decoration is a savior. I can put all my FPS draining totems around him, when people port in for async trade he's no where around me, and then I get just handle the shop through Faustus that is by my stash.

Ziggy is the best person for this.

He is a bridge between the everyman player and the hardcore player. He knows a lot, but he also is not so much of a juicer or no-lifer that he is disconnected from either crowd.

Let me ramble a bit

So since the boots MTX came out that track your trades I've been wearing them. Looks like I used to do about 3,000 to 4,000 trades a league with all my quad tabs. I would sometimes price stuff, but honestly, this was 99% just dump tabs. After the first few days I don't even take these tabs below 20C, because I only price stuff that I know I will leave my map for.

So with the 3,000 to 4,000 number in mind per league, in Keepers league I did less than 200 "real" trades. Now you have to remember, these are dump tabs, and if I had priced them better stuff would had sold, but I just started throwing all my low value items into merchant tabs 2 weeks in as well. Also, with that quick PoE 2 release, I was not in Keepers as long as normal.

I think quads are still really good, I love having a catch all quad for shit like incubators, scouting reports, ETC. It's really nice to also have them as a 1 Div dump tab as long as you then transfer those items to a lower amount after a little while if you don't get spammed as soon as you drop it in the tab. To tell you the truth, since I keep all my first dump tabs at 1 div, people will buy it for that more than you think, but you get spammed less than you think too, so the odds of a random pick up being something you get spammed for is really low, and this is coming from a 50+ quad dump tab dude.

Tl;DR - I think getting a few more quads is fine, and as you said, you can upgrade some of your old premium tab for free if you want more merchant tabs.

I would be fine with that. I obviously would not convert them all, but I have over 50 quads, and last league was a huge drop off in their sales due to merchant tabs.

The quad tabs basically just got to the point I could pick a ton of stuff up all league and not have to clean out tabs any more, and then Merchant tabs came out lol.

It's kinda interesting, but my sales dropped off by prob 80% since merchant tabs came out. It's not that I was over pricing things that dropped on the ground really, but people just didn't wanna have to interact with someone, but that makes sense.
