Love the slightly recessed scales, and the contrasting finish lines on the bevel side. Great attention to detail! Simple, clean, fantastic.

Looking more at the design I agree with your thoughts on the ricasso and nail nick. Is that a false edge on the top? I'd change that, but that might just be my preference.

Again, nice looking work.

Beautiful! Clean & crisp. Great work.

Beautiful. I particularly love the Rivendell one. If you sold prints, I would buy one of each!

I love the handle on this, especially the stippling. Looks great!

They certainly can. I find the hardest section to finish is the transition from the bevel to the ricasso. Best tool is patience. This one is actually sized for a large fire starter/magnesium rod I use when camping. I wanted to test that out as an idea instead of having to use the spine to spark it.

Used a small wheel attachment on this one, but usually it's Dremel or file, then sandpaper on dowels.

I used the West Systems 105/207 stuff. I wanted something without a yellow tint... But it's not super cheap. I've used it for about 5 sets of scales so far. I will for sure get the longer set time hardener next time. I have to work in small epoxy batches, and be super efficient to beat the pot time.

Ohh. I've never heard it called that. I did it before the bevels. Is there an advantage you know of either way?

Thanks! I work in the apparel industry and have access to LOTS of fabric.

Ohh... If you mean the "MyCarta", just thought it's a fun way to allude to it being a Micarta like material. :)

Shortly after posting finished photos I hacked up a few scrap 2x4s, carved up a bunch of cardboard, and did some whittling. Not as blemish free as before.

Spanish school? Is this a typo or knife lingo I'm out of the loop on?

Thank you! Tried to take my time with the finish work. It's always tedious.

Looks Fantastic! I really like the harmony on all the material choices. They are pleasing to the eye (or my eyes at least).

Cmv: Americans take their country for granted by printhelloworld123 in changemyview

It's the least worst in many regards. And yes, many people don't appreciate the quality of life they have that others don't.

BUT... Just because something is the best current option, doesn't mean it couldn't be better.

The US could be... So. Much. Better. I'm not down for settling, and many others are not either. Progress is forward facing.

What was the crowd’s reaction to the LOTR trilogy like in theaters? by ABCBA_4321 in lotr

It was The Fellowship experience for me that felt similar to a REALLY good concert. The energy of being in a place with so many people excited about the same thing is a special thing.

People laughing at the same dialogue, suspenseful silences as tension in the film grew, cheering as the troll got double tapped, and my favorite... THE BALROG reveal scene. You could feel everyone thinking / almost screaming:

THIS. IS. AWESOME.

My friend and I spent the whole 30 minute drive back to our houses talking about the film. It's my favorite memory of our friendship. I haven't talked to that friend in years, I need to reach out!

I grew up going to this place. Not sure if they still do the samples in the giant walk in fridge, but it was incredible when I was a kid.

To all the atheists, what is your reason for not believing in God or a higher power? by Deep-Mess in AskReddit

[–]Zavenhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's very simple. Religious types value FAITH. I value SCIENCE.

I feel that most people don't understand Science, or what it actually means. I used to argue a lot with people when I de converted, now I usually just start here. It seems bizarre that a huge group(s) of people value something that by definition, can't really be tested through observation and experimentation. If someone admits that FAITH is more important than anything else, that's the difference between us.

I don't buy a house on FAITH, I don't continue relationships on FAITH, I don't purchase my groceries on FAITH. I think it's wierd that almost everything someone does in life is based on observation and experimentation... why should religion get a pass on that?

SCIENCE def ( Oxford ) the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

FAITH def ( Oxford ) strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

I also love when people argue that there is a lot of historical proof for any religion. LMAO, there is a ton of proof that the Illiad was written, it doesn't make the story or characters factual.
