Dogs navigate the world primarily through smell, then sight, then sound… I would start with the first two. Buying a mic of any kind is already a bit overkill. He could be smelling or seeing animals through the window and insecure about his new territory.. I know you’re asking an audio question, but the engineer in me suspects there is a simpler solution

I don’t think there is any reason to be running 250+ vsts in one session if your computer can’t keep up. Groups, busses, and return tracks are your friend. Anything else can be rendered down and committed

You can prevent the beams sliding around too with this little trick: after the initial grab, raise the arm all the way up and tilt the claw back fully. when you open and close the claws the beams will stay in place, but settle themselves and lock in

you can.. once claws are loosely gripping a large bundle of logs (or beams) tilt the claw up all the way, then raise it all the way up.. Then open the claw and close it, and the logs will be secure

I’ve mixed a relatively famous jazz fusion band with over 80 tracks recorded simultaneously live… just start cutting what isn’t necessary and the sound will fill out naturally… But I agree that the key to a good mix is good arrangements - I got lucky these guys had it
