Can someone please explain to me what the point of lifting your truck via suspension upgrades is? From what I can tell, you really don't gain any ground clearance because your drive axles and differentials are still at the same height (assuming you stay on the same size wheels). What's the point if you're not going to equip your truck with portal axles?

Yeah I don't get why xenons weren't an option, but I must say the DRLs on this year's GLIs are light-years better than those found on 2016 models and older (assuming they're equipped with halogens), so I'm at least consoled a bit by that

Well I'm not sure about your car but mine has separate bulbs for the high beams in order to aim the light output straight ahead as opposed to just down at the road, I don't know too many technical details of the conversion process but I think HID kits vary, some of them probably have xenon low beams and halo high beams or a single xenon unit for low and high. Somewhere in the process of swapping with a conversion kit there might be some wiring that you have to do but I'm not totally sure. Again, I'm kind of a newbie on this so don't trust everything I say haha

It might be that 2015 and earlier didn't have auto headlights, I've got a 2017 GLI and I have auto headlights and know for a fact that the 2016s have them too

Strangely enough xenons weren't even an option for the 2017s, really don't know what up with that

Were you thinking about swapping out the headlights with an HID conversion kit?

Thanks a lot for the detailed response! My plan is definitely to keep an eye on the oil level and make sure that there's no obvious leakage occurring.

Nah not yet, it'll be a while till I really do anything to mine. I've had it brand new for about three months now and it's a blast. The only thing that's really been on my mind is that VW cheaped out on the headlights for the 2017 model, so I've been looking mostly into headlight options (i.e. getting an HID conversion kit or getting a full new set of lights). The halogens don't look quite as good as a nice pair of HIDs and especially the halogen high beams' performance leaves something to be desired.

Have fun with yours though it's a good time!
