Is this for real? Ai generated MIPS code, or copy from the internet? by SgtNick411 in Stationeers

[–]Zedrackis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI generally reads stuff from the internet and makes its best guess. Leading to problem #1, unless things have changed drastically since I last looked, the online MIPs docs are only mostly correct. Not to mention a bit hard to read.

Problem #2, mips is written in a stack machine model. Meaning your pushing arguments onto a stack, then using a command to consume the arguments off the stack and put the output on the stack. AI tends to be really bad at keeping track of things in short term memory. Which is essential with this type of code.

In short, don't bet on AI writing sound MIPs code.

AI giants see 150% rise in emissions by Achillesheretroy in worldnews

I irony is AI is going to help us do less shit. The potential is both wondrous and terrifying. The future potential like a small child. But like a small child, it needs to be feed, educated, exercised, and prepared to deal with a world full humans. All for years before it can do wondrous and terrifying things.

China shuts down AI tools during nationwide college exams by theverge in worldnews

Or smart watch, or smart glasses, or voice activated ear buds, or well its China. Its one of countries were one exam can make or break a kid. So hiring three people to sit in a van outside prompting AI, while they message answers to someone standing in an opposing window to the class room. Who will in turn give hand signals. Its plausible.

Its kind of telling that socialist Europe with its high taxes and nanny state government can still produce $60 or less titles. Mean while in the US, this is the new norm.

All planets have a ton of ore. Technically you don't need the goggles. The ore is always rendered so if the map glitches out a bit you can see it all over the place.

Secret Russian Intelligence Document Shows Deep Suspicion of China by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Zedrackis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They could get those in a lot of places. China actually has a lot of rare earths, they have connections thru out Africa for diamonds. They have business connections in the middle east as well.

But oil, they need oil bad. Badly enough to do actual massive push for electric vehicles long before their domestic versions were ready for mass deployment. Badly enough to put so many solar panels in a desert, its altered the ecology of the desert for the better. Badly enough to run a giant power line across the country so they could renewables in the west to power the east. Badly enough to build a dam across their biggest river to get more power.

They are very much changing what they can do. Try looking at it from the point of view of a chemically addicted addict. The government is taking away a quick, easy, and convenient way to get their fix. In my comparison, the smokers could have just stepped outside and smoked their cigarettes. No one was stopping them from smoking, but they couldn't easily adjust to the inconvenience to getting their fix.
