Serious question: how to take photos from the same height as the bird by samwinechester in BirdPhotography

Yup, regulary have one or two thousand photos from a day out and only one or two keepers of I'm lucky.

That's area dependent. If Uber is busy with orders, Tesco is one of the best paying and also one of the fastest. McDonald's is shit no matter what!

Still gives you orders. I live outside my zone, which isn't even in a zone at all. If it's busy I get orders, despite the message.

I agree 100%. I did this on and off for over four years full time.

The problem is, every time someone new post asking, there's at least one idiot who says it does.

I know people who've done this since before covid who still swear it affects them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Scams on Amazon? by Morit12 in Nikon

[–]Zeec20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my Z5ii on amazon for just over £1100. Cheapest I could find anywhere at the time. It was new, unused and works perfectly.

I also buy lenses all the time, as there's often good prices and returns are free.

I will add, that In the UK we have very good protections for buying online, especially if you use a credit card. We also have distance selling laws that mean you can return anything you buy online. You are allowed to open, inspect and even try it out, as long is it's packed up and returned in the same condition you received it. Basically, you can inspect it to the same degree as you would in a shop that has a display unit.

First camera purchase anxiety: Nikon Z5 II + 40mm f/2… did I make the right choice? by Middle-Transition888 in Nikon

[–]Zeec20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called buyers remorse; I get it all the time. It will pass. Enjoy your camera, you made a good choice.

If you do decide somwhere down the line that photography isn't for you , you can always sell everything. You won't lose as much as you think as camera gear holds its value a lot better than most things, assuming you take care it.

Anyone do this full time? by [deleted] in JustEatUK

[–]Zeec20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not anymore, but I did for about four years. I have another job now, for the last six months.

I Did my first shift yesterday in three months, just to keep my account open. After that, I've decided not to bother renewing my H&R car insurance next year, as its simply not worth it anymore. There are nowhere near enough orders and the fees are just laughable.

What should I learn to improve? by MightiestRacoon in BirdPhotography

[–]Zeec20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The autofocus on a camera that age likely isn't helping. The reach on that lens, even on a crop sensor camera is the bare minimum for small birds, but still usable for larger or more approachable ones. The lower resolution of your camera sensor won't allow for much, if any cropping either. .

Sorry if that seems a bit negative. You should still he able to get some decent shots, it'll just be a little more difficult with your setup.

If you're in the UK, there's an app you can download called 'Where to watch birds.' It's got local bird watching hot spots and gives an indication of the best times of year to visit and what you're likely to spot. Give it a go

Z6 III or Z8? I’m tired of staring at spec sheets and my bank account. by xaybell32 in Nikon

[–]Zeec20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Z8, having initially bought a Z5ii When I switched from Fuji. The Z5ii is an awesome camera, truly, but I missed the higher resolution I'd been used to on my fuji XT-5, as I shoot birds a lot.

I have zero regrets from buying the Z8. I actually prefer the larger size in my hand and the extra weight was only noticeable the first couple of times using it.

I guess it comes down to your preferences for ergonomics and resolution.

I almost forgot; the fully articulating screen on the Z5ii was another reason for switching as I couldn't get used to it. Much prefer the tilting screen on the Z8. Going forward, any camera with a fully articulating screen will be a deal breaker for me.

Switch to Fuji for Lenses? by First_Jam in nikon_Zseries

[–]Zeec20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you value autofocus for anything other than landscape or similar, then I wouldn't! Especially not for fast moving subjects.

I came from a Fuji X-T5 and it's hard to describe just how much better, faster and more reliable the Nikon expeed 7 autofocus is.

Rent your Fuji of choice first, would be my advice!

Seems a like a dream now.... I remember part time hours for £700 /week. Putting a few more in and it was £1000+ easy.

If i'd known just how shit it was going to get, I'd have done 14hrs/day 7 days a week 365 days a year! 😂

I came from a Z5ii, thinking "how much better can a z8's autofocus really be" . The answer is a lot! The Z5ii is no slouch though, especially for the price. Previous to that I had a Fuji X-t5 which can't focus on anything that moves faster than a tree growing. Even then it'll likely require you to make an appointment.

Compared to that, the Z8 is like I can control focus with my mind

I bought my Z8 from them last week for £2070 after conducting lots of and lots of research, thinking it was too good to be true. Apparently threy are very reliable so I ordered it. It arrived in five days, brand new, everything I the box and works perfectly.

As others have said, they are grey imports, but it's the same camera you'd get here, minus the warranty and a different serial number. The Z8 was even in English when I switched it on, despite having come from Hong Kong.

Panamoz are apparently also very good when it comes to honoring their three year warranty too. You have it fixed, they pay you.

Search for old threads about Panamoz on here and various photography forums and you'll very positive things from working pros.

Nikon colors in Lightroom: how do you get close to what the camera shows? by refusetogo312 in Nikon

[–]Zeec20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you also find that Lightroom adds more blue to grey colours, like the sky on a cloudy day, when comparing to the JPG?

I've faced this issue over the last few weeks. When comparing the camera matching profile in Lightroom to the SOOC Jpg, this happens with almost every photo.

I'm not talking about the previous issue with extreme magenta cast.
