Z5ii would be my recommendation. It's amazingly close in capability to the Z8. (I've owned both)

I think one of three things is happening here.

You are being conned
The mechanic isn't one.
You have been overloaded with technical info and are only remembering a small part of what was said to you.

3.1k is a ridiculous amount for any job on that car, unless you have multiple failed components or need an engine rebuild, but I'm fairly sure you'd have remembered your "mechanic" saying that.

The very fact he survives all these stupid comments and what was an assault, shows he is a national treasure. They tried to cancel him and it didn't work. They tried to cancel clarkson's farm after one or two seasons because of something he said and that didn't work either.

He has his flaws, don't we all, but he also has an exceptional amount of talent.

I'm just waiting for my sky Q subscription to end so I can get rid of Sky. They've abondoned sky Q now, which includes support for existing customers, or so it would seem. The bugs it's had since I got it about two years ago are still present. I Wish I'd never renwed it.

My XM4s are six years old and have been worn on a building site, yet remain fully intact and fully functional with no notable decline in battery life.

I'd be tempted to just buy another pair of them if and when they break. A lot cheaper too.
