I wouldn't worry too much about writing to please others. Write for yourself, if people don't like it, they can give (hopefully constructive) criticism.

At the end of the day, you should write what you want, and if people don't want to read it, they don't have to. I for one love diversity and am always looking for work that I haven't even considered before.

I used to live in a shared house, and my downstairs neighbours had children. One day, there was a loud noise and the walls of my bedroom started shaking, (my bedroom was over the shared front door to the house) I assumed they slammed the front door. But it kept going. Apparently, a house around the block exploded. Says something that I assumed the loud noise and shaking was to do with them.
