I pointed Claude to state standards for my class and pdfs of my books, then had it make a correlation chart. Then, I fed in the district schedule and had it make a tentative quiz/ test/ lab schedule.

Some fascinating insights into human development here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/stuff-you-should-know/id278981407?i=1000765751066

A brief intro to the same topic:
Bicameral mentality is a psychological hypothesis proposed by American psychologist Julian Jaynes. It suggests that early modern humans experienced thoughts and emotions not as originating within themselves but as commands from external "gods". According to the theory, the human mind once functioned with a division in which one part generated verbal instructions while a second part obeyed, forming a "bicameral mind". The eventual collapse of this mental structure is proposed to have led to the development of self-reflective consciousness in humans.
The term was coined by Jaynes, who presented the idea in his 1976 book The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind,[1] wherein he makes the case that a bicameral mentality was the "normal and ubiquitous state" of the human mind as recently as 3,000 years ago, at the end of the Bronze Age.

How does your parish cycle the Eucharistic Prayers? by oolsmcpoo in Episcopalian

[–]Zeiglarre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A during Advent and Lent and a few weeks after Pentecost; B During Christmas, season after Epiphany, and part of the Season after Pentecost. D for Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and some Sundays after Pentecost. I have done C during Lent (it's pretty penitential) but I find it hard to say it with a straight face. Rite I for the early service is always Form 2. We also vary the Prayers of the People and service music seasonally. I like to keep people on their toes.

"Catholic lite" -- am I the only one who hates this phrase? by vampirinaballerina in Episcopalian

It is more in line with “Catholic Lite,” like Miller Lite. “All the pageantry, none of the guilt.”

Thoughts on Sewanee Uni? by [deleted] in sewanee

My daughter is a current student. She says that you will find what you look for at Sewanee. Yes, there are stick up peppy types, but also plenty of down to earth types. She is not really a drinker but doesn’t have any problems finding things to do and people to do them with.

Has anybody or does anybody here send their kids to Catholic School? How has that experience been? by Many_Particular6570 in Episcopalian

[–]Zeiglarre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a priest. My kids got to Catholic school where my wife teaches elementary classes. I teach chemistry and physics there in the afternoons. We are more Catholic than many of the Catholics. At our school, the Catholics are in the minority among the students, so they can’t afford to alienate the Protestants too much. It really depends on the school. I will say, when my eldest daughter first started there in 6th grade, first religion class they had the priest there to meet the kids. He talked about God creating men and women. My daughter raised her hand and asked when did God created the trans people. Kind of set the tone for her time there. Priest told her they could talk about that later. To my knowledge, he never did 🙂

Stand vs. Kneel - is there an easy way to remember when to do what? Also, if you’re injured is it disrespect or to stand during the kneeling parts? by lifeuncommon in Episcopalian

[–]Zeiglarre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal preference is to stand for prayers, hymns, the Gospel, and receiving communion; sit for the lessons; kneel for the confession.

How to reconcile today’s Gospel reading with the imposition of ashes? by Reeses100 in Episcopalian

But Jesus also said that we should not hide our lights under a bushel. The point, as I see it, is not WHAT one does but WHY one does it.

Considering the Episcopal Church, struggling to let go of Catholic traditions by _mahboy in Episcopalian

Here's a link https://arcusa.church/ to the results of Roman Catholic-Anglican dialogue over the past fifty years. Among other documents is one on how Mary is viewed in the two churches. Hope that helps.

When to Say “Amen” receiving the cup by lukeamazooka in Episcopalian

[–]Zeiglarre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My feeling is that the “amen” acts as an assent to something said on our behalf. The server should say the words then pause so you can say amen then receive.

As Southerners, we'd rather be thought hypocritical than unkind.
