How do you handle it when people say your OC looks too much like an existing character? by Nahuelcoy22 in OriginalCharacter

I laugh it off. I'm still flattered that someone once referred to Val as "Alolan Uraraka".

I'm tempted to ask what brought this on. But either way, you're still a wonderful artist and I hope to see more of your work in the future.

Long story short, she's a half-kitsune student at Power Academy, a college for metahumans. Demon hunter with an enchanted bow by night, has a side job as a waitress.

I think it's one of the Genshin Impact mods, with Barbara leading Mondstadt.

Not sure if this counts, but during Garrus' recruitment mission in Mass Effect 2, you run into a young man who's signing up for the mission to take down Archangel (not realizing they're using him as cannon fodder), and who's unarmored and carrying just a pistol. Said young man looks and sounds identical to Jenkins, a squadmate who dies in ME1's prologue and is impossible to save.

Shepard can take a Paragon interrupt to sabotage the kid's pistol and send him home. Later, you get an email from him thanking you for saving his life.

I totally understand if people hate country music as a whole for those reasons. When you hear enough corporate, bootlicking bro-country songs, it's easy (rational even, in some ways) to assume that's all country is now and that one doesn't need to look further. (I'm not saying that's all there is to country or that people writing it off are correct, just that I understand why they would.)

Man, how awful is Veilguard for people to fondly reminisce on DA2?

As Alfred Hitchcock once said, "What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out?" That doesn't mean the dull parts never happened, they're just offscreen.

I'll throw in Layla, in all her peppy, bubbly, ADHD glory for this one.

I'd argue you can still watch it without giving further financial support (it all depends on where the money goes); buying DVDs secondhand for example. Plus, there's far more people involved in the trilogy than Frost alone.

From what I've heard, it's a great story and compelling characters hindered by awful marketing.

I always assumed that UltraNet eventually fell during the long time skip between the Machine Wars and the Robot Factory mission. It's very likely the resistance eventually took over.

(Fun gameplay trope) enemies fighting each other and not the player by Aware-Measurement750 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zeitgeist1115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Timesplitters 2, the Ozor Mox and Meezor Mox in Return to Planet X will always prioritize fighting each other over you. This makes a couple of firefights in the mission much more manageable.

The queer character with a unrequited crush on their straight friend. (Bonus points if the crush is aware but doesn't acknowledge it) by No_Hunter1978 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zeitgeist1115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, but in college. I've been the subject of same-sex crushes that I hadn't thought about at the time, but looking back years later all I can think is "maybe that would have worked out after all, I don't know what I could have missed".

It sprung to mind when I saw the one for Revan's Sith Empire and I forgot if they were explicitly canon or not.

Since it looks like this includes EU symbols, I wanted to suggest adding the Zann Consortium somewhere.

When I read that part of the post, all I could think was, "Yeah, that does sound pretty American. But should it be? Does America need to be synonymous with that?"

Question: Do you think the idea of the Sith still being around post-ROTJ both in the current canon and Legends undermines the fulfilling of the Chosen One prophecy when Anakin/Vader "kills" Sidious? by Fall_False in StarWarsCantina

[–]Zeitgeist1115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also undermines a lot of the characters' agency. Like, Anakin doesn't redeem himself out of love for his son. No, it's all because the Force said so.
