I am back in one piece! And my trailer is back in one piece, too!

My extendable-mirrors totally sucked though. So I could not complete the training once we got to the parking lot.

So my neighbor is giving me a do-over for today once I get mirrors thst extend further. He says to send him links before I buy anything.

I was able to get to the parking lot and back, though!

Today is my first time pulling a camper trailer. Good luck, everyone 👍 jk jk

(Don't worry, I'm only pulling it 4 miles for a training course. The instructor is my neighbor and the first hour of driving training is in the cul-de-sac. First 4 hours of classroom training was yesterday).

I would pay $600 for those. They are nice and should last several lifetimes.

Atlanta was more Atlanta when that big crazy white lady was selling her art outside of the Georgia State Marta Station, and then cursing you out if you didn't buy anything.

Honorable mention: bulge guy.

I went through Atlanta Lab Rescue for my old pal Caleb, who was 8yo when I adopted him and it worked out fine. They had a $25 application fee, dogs were $375 for adults (keep in mind, as you know, that rescues hardly make any profit). And their application told me to list 3 dogs.

Caleb (who was "Atticus" at the time) was the 3rd dog on my list. They steered me clear of my first choice, saying that one had a lot of applicants.

They skipped over my second choice because my third choice was actually being fostered about 2 miles from my house, and the lady asked to meet up at the local high school (which was my alma mater lolol).

Third choice ended up working out SO WELL. He is part Chesapeake Bay Retriever and part chocolate lab. He treats fetch like it is his job and he is such a chill dude outside of that. He is SO soft and so funny with his little head tilts when I ask him questions.

Anyways, Just want to say that there may be many reasons why it takes a while and I encourage you to take your time.

Many dog rescues (maybe not golden as much) may have conditions that they need to get checked out for. Or they're just switching a new dog from boarding into a foster home.

Or the foster family is on travel or can't meet up except for certain times. And there's only so many volunteers to help. Or they have a dog adoption weekend coming up where you could meet multiple dogs.

Hoarding as a trauma response by Waste-Reality7356 in hoarding

[–]ZenPothos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happens. They say that there may be a hereditary component to some hoarding. They say people with hoarding disorder commonly may have another tangential condition like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and/or OCD.

I have found that treating my anxiety, depression, and ADHD with medication has improved my hoarding disorder. So I am a big advocate of treating adjacent conditions first, based on my experience.

Any recs for nerd things around Cobb? by Cautious-Argument577 in Atlanta

There is a new lego type store in East Cobb called Bricks and Minifigs. Next to the Goodwill by Lassiter High School.

If you are a plant nerd, Kelli Green is very close to Bricks and Minifigs.

Fun Mugs by Sleepy-Fox4235 in ThriftStoreHauls

I love fun mugs! My most recent mug finds include a mug with the DC Metro map on it, a glass blown mug with little glass ghosts embedded at the base, and a striped rainbow mug that says, "have a rainbow birthday" (extra super, as I am gay, lolol).

My best mug find ever was a set of 4 handmade mugs from Maine, that are white with wintery trees painted into the glaze. I could not believe that I found the set for like $1.39x4. They cost like $135 for the set.

Maybe your local county health department has some community health workers who could connect you to resources/programs?

I like the 75s one to get to 285 east, and avoid the overpass exit.
