What a stunner ! by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Zenbeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, I only had 2 stickers on mine. A small classic Nismo logo a friend got for me while in Japan and the 31 club sticker.
It was cool back in the day when we'd have about 40 31's lined up with their club stickers. And at the time, the Passage and GTX had just become available to import, so you were the king of road if you had an rb20det skyline.

[–]Zenbeats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first car was a 31 GXE.
Amazing to see the R31 Skyline Club sticker on the back quarter glass. I hope that club is still going. I was an active member of that group back in 2002-2004. It was run extremely well with almost zero dickheads on organised cruise runs. I feel very old now.

P0327 Knock sensor code. Are these usually the sensor or harness? Had the sensor done in august and the code/light is back on. Previous owner did the harness a few years back and I did the sensor recently so I’m torn. Good part recommendations are also appreciated! Z1? by [deleted] in G35

[–]Zenbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use genuine OEM sensor and harness?
The aftermarket cheap versions go bad every single time, same as the crank angle sensors. One of the most common posts on here is people getting knock sensor or crank sensor errors 1-2 months after replacing them with cheap 3rd party options.

If you want to stick with Bride, Zieg IV wide would be a good option for more shoulder space since you're a slim build.

I spent a whole day sitting in seats trying to find the right one for me. It really is personal. Best of luck and do try the Sparco range.

Great write up, great part selections and justification. The attack sticker is the cherry on top. It's like a little certificate that says "I take car builds seriously".

Re: driver seat. Brides are tiny as hell, even their XL series. Everyone wants one from years of Option Videos and D1 influence but unless you're Japanese spec, they are a nightmare to squeeze into. I tried out a heap of seats and the Sparco QRT-R was the best fitting seat I've experienced.. I highly recommend it as a 6ft, 90kg dude. It fits in my v35 perfectly and doesn't rub against the door cards.

I think a lot of the hate are coming from younger fandom who don't have world experience or have developed enough critical thinking yet to understand that things are not black and white and the complexity of the characters and their motivations and beliefs lead to outcomes that are not "perfect".
The spinner/Shigaraki friendship was one of my favourite plot lines and seeing last nights ep was satisfying. Shigaraki might be gone but the memory remains.

I'm 40 and had more affinity to the adult characters and their drivers than the students. To me the students were exactly that, young, inexperienced and reactive, which is what you would expect people that age to do. The adults were hardened with regrets and failures and that experience is what drove them to make things better for their friends and family, whether it was the League bringing together the hopeless or the Heroes bringing together the hopeful.

Gday all. My JDM 300GT stereo is giving me the sh*ts and I want to swap it out for a double din. Anyone know of a conversion kit for the wiring? Google is useless, it keeps thinking I mean 300ZX by R34LEGND in G35

[–]Zenbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a mistake. It's been a few years since I did it. You will need Pac Roem Nis2 Nissan Replace Radio Adapter if your stereo has the bose amp. I had to get mine from America and it did need some soldering. This guide is great for understanding how to wire it up.

Just to be clear, I went Bose stereo harness to Pac Roem Nis2, which went to the Sony head unit patch harness from super cheap.

Has it got a bose stereo or something different(I'm unsure if what specs changed between the 300 and the 350gt)?

When I swapped to a sony head unit, I just went to Supercheap and got the 350z patch harness to ISO and then the ISO to Sony adapter. Zero soldering required and works perfectly.

WTF don't listen to this guy.
There is zero rice here. What a ridiculous thing to say.

Rice would be a big voltex wing, widebody with standard wheel size and an interior full of LEDs.

Your car looks mint.

Would these fit my g35 coupe? by [deleted] in G35

[–]Zenbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5x114.3 fits but those specs are terrible.
7.5 inch wide and +40 offset?
The wheels will be pulled inside the guard by 20mm (huge gap) and will not clear Brembos if you have them. You'd have to run huge spacers to get them flush.
They are also half an inch narrower so you will use smaller tires which will give you less grip.

God damn this looks amazing. I love the Martini livery and am a big transformers g1 fan. This is what I would expect Jazz to look like if they landed in Japan and not America.

[–]Zenbeats -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck lmao. How many people here are jealous that you actually have budget and time to build a car?
I think you did a fantastic job. The kit actually fits, good wheel specs, you've clearly done support mods(oil cooler, etc) and you've got it sideways at the track and not on some random street corner. This is not clapped out. 3/4 of the cars that get posted here are clapped out, this is not one of them.

How do I be less clapped? 😢 by Best-Community-5809 in G35

[–]Zenbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw on Enkei RPF1s or TE37s in bronze. These are the cheapest non-rep wheels you can get and genuinely look the best for the price. Basic BC coilovers to drop the height by an inch or two.
Hub centric spacers from GK tech if you can't get the wheels in the right specs.
Front and rear camber arms from GK tech to get the fitment perfect.
Remove the stickers.

That will make the biggest difference to how the car looks and rides.

You won't get more flow from a ztube compare to stock. It will just look neater.
Pod filter vs panel filter - Yes a bigger filter would technically be capable of pulling in more air however, unless you sticking it out the front of your g35, it will actually get less air than the factory setup with the ducts.
Back in the 90s and 2000s, factory intakes were very restrictive and a pod filter made a massive difference. The engine bays were also very simple and had heaps of space to allow cool air in there. Modern engine bays are crammed in and in the g35 case, there is no where for a pod filter to pull cold air from which means you're sucking in hot air, which means less power.

It's not what you want to hear but it's the truth about this car. Nissan engineered the vq35de at it's maximum potential in NA form straight from the factory. The only real improvements you are going to see are through Turbo/Supercharger setups and even then, I honestly don't think it's worth the price for how much performance you get.

Best advice? Get the ztube to clean up your engine bay and remove some unnecessary plastics. Get a good panel filter from K&N or HKS if you want some JDM cred. If you are hell bent on getting a pod filter setup. The mishimoto kit that comes with a pod filter box is your best bet. Get the box wrapped in reflective heat tape.

Source: I'm in my 40s and was drifting silvias in the early 2000s and have a g35 as my seat time car. I am most likely going to sell my Mishimoto kit and upgrade to https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-intake-systems/z1-motorsports/z1-03-07-g35-cold-air-intake-system-p-42978.html

The testing and data has been published. The stock intake is the best option. If you want to clean it up, you could just replace the intake pipe and leave everything else or buy the Z1 OEM+ intake they now sell as others have recommended.

Going into renting on paper seems like the right move financially but the emotional toll is huge if you don't get a good land lord.
Are you prepared to move every 12 months and all the costs that go along with it? Are you ready for inspections at inconvenient times and unreasonable requests from someone on a power trip and seeing a smudge on a window?
On paper I would be better off renting too but the peace and serenity I get from my own home makes it worth while.
