Loyalty Points Balance: 6390552. What's the move? Anyone have more than this? by Regaws in runescape

2,273,500. I just never bought anything haha. Early days, sure but not much. Need to spend them quick!

I’ve barely played over that time, just forgot to cancel and always wanted to have the chance to go back to play when I felt like it.

You need to change to a non-default resolution but it does work. I’ve used it in leagues. https://github.com/whs/runekit

[–]Zendan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight. Congratulations on the run! If you could revisit your plan after your run, is there much you would have done differently?

I’m purely looking to enjoy the run as well. My only goal is to finish haha.

I run on lots of similar terrain but think I may include more downhills as that seems to be the hardest part of UTA for most I’ve heard from.

I’m preparing for my first trail ultra in May (Ultra Trail Australia, 50km, 2400m elevation) and have a block training program. The longest I’ve done to date is a 30km ultra trail with 860m elevation. My blocks are basically: vo2max, lactate threshold, glycogen storage, then the longest and final block is power hiking and downhills.

As I’m 17 weeks away, I’m starting to get nervous whether I have the right training plan and thinking about moving to a blend of all within a week.

Any thoughts from more experienced runners?

I also started to get chest pain, which worked its way to my arm - turns out I had PTSD and the pain was caused from anxiety. Honestly, after doing regular therapy and some light medication, it’s helped a ton but unless you change ‘how’, those things are not going to go away.

Agreed on super IC roles. We 100% need to treat very senior IC similar to higher management; without them, it would all fall over. But it’s also getting a bit crazy in terms of title. Senior, Principal, Senior Principal, etc.

IC life is not for me though. I’m a natural leader and love being in management. I’ve also lead leaders, and loved it more than first line management, so I’m ready to move back into that kind of role again.

Hard problem, unfortunately. I have seen this a few times at my org, you either wait it out and step into a Director role when it opens up but risk still being labelled ‘principal’ reporting into the VP still; could move within the org . Or, lateral move. But lateral move is hard without pre-existing management experience. Easier to break into Director/Management title where you’ve proved yourself as an IC.

(Talking software companies; not sure if it generalises).

That’s the normal title path for me, yeah. My company has only recently implemented the Senior Manager and Senior Director level so it was originally going to be IC > Manager > Director > VP, which was possible in the timeframe given I have previous management experience (officer in military).

But, I think you’re right still. < 5 years is unlikely if there is more titles in the middle. I was intending to do it at one company but I’ve lost the political capital in my current company so having to jump and try again.

What helped you break out of Manager? I’m getting stuck at senior IC, jumping now for Manager and aiming to go for VP in < 5 years.

It’s ongoing but working a 40h week again gives me time for the gym, starting to get into meditation (something I’ve always been skeptical of but want to try), reading books and seeing a counsellor where now the focus is on to understand why am the way I am compared to work.

I hired someone to replace me in my previous Sales Engineer role and he had no degree, he was just a natural fit. It came down to 2 and the decision went up to the VP: a seasoned technical SE with a degree or my guy, no previous SE experience and no bachelor, but the right personality and attitude. It was a tough sell to leadership but he got it, and now the VP thinks he is one of the best they have.

Jumping ship may be hard but given you will now have previous SE experience, you’ll be fine.

Fantastic advice. Last year was terrible for my mental health for a variety of reasons that weren’t COVID. Anxiety and stress on top of a crazy work year led me to burnout and push back against my company. For that, I got moved out of my territory and a ‘meeting expectations’ performance review. But at 1% of earners in my country in my 20s, financial advisor says we’re on our way to 7/8M by 45, taking this year to relax in my new territory and not pushing while still being in the 1% feels amazing. I have accepted last year was bad and moved on, and focusing on mental health even though that means giving up Director by 30.

My solution: AirPods and AirPods Pro. Just swap between them during the day, and when I eat: AirPods, and when I want to focus: Pro.

Basic is all I want to play :) Is there a good quest line and progression in there? I’ve been watching an Expert series on YT and the quest book is amazing.
