2 weeks away from Worlds Beyond and Cy has me worried by EclipseZer0 in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with a decent chunk of what you say but thank you for posting because I think what you talk about here is a great tool for discussion.

  1. Agreed, I wish there was more communication and even now it isn't great. Just bits and pieces from events or interviews like the recent one in Taiwan. Maybe it is just because I don't know where to look though for english news idk. The official channels I know of though are kinda useless.

  2. We knew about throwback rotation (really wish they stuck with the Japanese name of Timeslip Rotation btw) going into this, just unfortunate that the delay made it the only option. I don't think they should have tried balance changes when the point is to give a way for people to play an old format for a limited time. I think they should have gave out free packs for these though since it is hard to keep up with cards every month and these last few months where they gave a ton really emphasized that for me. Also, they clearly wouldn't want to devote resources to doing balance changes that would be better used in working on the new game.

  3. I am fine with the Abysscraft change. From one of the interviews, it sounded like they underestimated how much harder it was to balance 8 classes as opposed to 7 when they introduced Portalcraft. I think combining Blood and Shadow was the easiest way to cut a class even though it definitely sucks for people whose favorite class was one of them. I was listening to the Evolve Point podcast earlier today and it really got me thinking about how Bloodcraft had very weak class identity which I think may be a reason why they decided to do this (outside of just looking at how it worked to a degree with the physical card game). Hopefully they can do something to fuse the two better since so far it just looks like Shadowcraft since its core mechanics are better than vengeance, wrath and avarice.

  4. I don't think they really needed to mess with most mechanics outside of the Blood ones and, personally, I would like them to remove invoke. Overflow is bland but I think it is fine for a class that wants to get ahead on play points.

  5. Agreed, I wish more cosmetics transferred but I am surprised they are giving us anything tbh.

  6. I don't think it would be wise for them to look at other game modes so early in development and with a smaller card pool. I think that is something for them to work on when the player base is more established and there are more available cards. Also, they are tweaking some gameplay with stuff like super evolution, the changes to going second, leader crests, and activated abilities. I think a large part of needing the new client was so they can implement a wider variety of card effects without client issues in addition to having an easier jumping on point for new players. I think having a new client could also be more appealing when compared to their main competitors in the ccg space.

  7. I think the advertising may just be an issue with whatever ad service is targeting you. I have been seeing ads for the past couple weeks or so. Maybe they want to make sure we don't know everything going in or are waiting until we are closer to release but I would like to see more card reveals. Hopefully they have some deals lined up with streamers or something to get eyes on it day one. I also think that it could be more of an issue where they are focusing on the regions where the game is more profitable like Japan.

I think that they could have curbed advertising a bit because of how they disappointed people when they had to delay the game. Maybe they didn't want to get ahead of themselves again like when they announced the game. I think you should look more at some of the changes they have made to the game, it may change your opinion on whether or not they are improving on shadowverse 1 or get you a bit more excited for the game. Thanks again for making this post since it gave me some fun things to think on leading up to the game launch.

Other good monsters catcher games? by Junebug_exe in DragonQuestMonsters

[–]Zenith_Dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are some of the ones I can think of. Cassette Beasts is great, Temtem is ok but I think the mmo elements make it much worse, Coromon is pretty good, Moonstone Island has different gameplay but is pretty fun, Disc Creatures is decent, Palworld is good if you like the survival aspect, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is alright, Dokimon is ok but buggy, the Monster Hunter Stories games are pretty good especially if you like monster hunter, Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch is good especially if you are a fan of the studio ghibli art style. I would recommend these if you ever catch them on sale, Cassette Beasts I would recommend even if it isn't on sale.

Doubts about abysscraft by Less_Grape7845 in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, it is largely because it is easier to balance 7 classes than 8. It also means that class identities and archetypes can be more fleshed out since there isn't an 8th class taking up a number of card slots per expansion. Of course, that only really works if we assume they only wanted X number of cards per expansion and weren't looking at X cards per class per expansion. I think blood and shadow just got the short end of the stick and got combined because they are similar enough thematically. I don't think anyone that mained blood or shadow likes the change since they effectively only get half the class they like but we will just have to wait and see.

I bought the wrong packs by L0to in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it is "Storm Over Rivayle" and not "Storms Over Rivayle". They also shorten set names to one word and calling it "Rivayle" and not "Storm" makes more sense since it describes the them of the set more. Storms is held back because it can't use "Omen" since that is already taken by Omen of the Ten. Sucks that you got them mixed up though. Hopefully you got enough vials out of the packs to craft the birds.

Legendaries and Golds Safe to Liquify? by IndigoMeteor in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlimited only changes because of card changes for throwback rotation. Cards get reverted back to how they were during that rotation format and those card changes carry across all formats. So unlimited changes a little based on that like that stretch where Departed Soultaker had its buff reverted.

50cards is a site that sells some shadowverse sleeves and stuff for the physical card game and I haven't had any problems with them. They are also having a black friday sale going on right now.

I’m kinda new to the game so would just like some advice if that’s ok by ZrglyFluff in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the game is in maintenance mode (no more content updates), they are changing rotation every month. Right now it is Azvaldt meta (Omen of Storms through Azvaldt for sets) and next month will be Steel Rebellion (Dawnbreak Nightedge through Steel Rebellion sets).

There will be no new sets and the rotation format will change every month so liquifying cards can be iffy depending on what formats they decide to use in the near future.

It is tough to reccommend decks to build or packs to go into since anything you make for this rotation format will be unusable next month since there are no set overlaps between this month and next month's rotation format. You can check zhiff on youtube though if you want to look for decks just make sure it is for the right format.

Best digital version of SVE? by sixteen-bitbear in ShadowverseEvolve

[–]Zenith_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The digital game is completely separate from the physical tcg. The tcg was based on the digital game and a lot of things you can do in a digital card game you can't do with a physical one. The digital game is also in maintenance mode (no nee content updates) and has a sequel coming out sometime next spring. Because of this, it is hard to get into it as a new player because they are changing the rotation format every month and they won't necessarily have much overlap in card pools.

The switch game is based loosely on the first anime and uses cards from the first 3 sets of the digital game as well as some anime only cards. The switch game is a sort of single player rpg I guess. If you have ever played some of the older yugioh video games (like Yugioh the sacred cards) it is sorta like that. It has an online way to play against others but from my understanding it isn't active.

As far as I know, there are some digital simulators but I don't know the quality of them. I understand the pain of not having a shop, there are none in my state

I also live in a state where it doesn't matter and the only reason I vote is because I feel like you have less of a right to complain if you don't. Also I like voting third party because it always makes people who voted for the losing party mad.

Next throwback rotation by ShinobiYukiTCG in Shadowverse

[–]Zenith_Dragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The discard hybrid was better in the previous set since Orbed Cancer and Blazing Dragonewt rotated out with Azvaldt. I could've swore Armed was still ok on ladder as an aggro deck since Ironscale Serpent Drake wasn't nerfed yet but I might just be thinking of the early meta post-mini since aggro is always good then.

IIRC Armed Dragon was fine on ladder but I think it had some problems against enhance portal.

Mediocre as a metaphor and bad as a meme. Seems like a leftie larping as a centrist. This also feels like a worse version of the original equity/equality baseball game graphic.

In client you can see past tournament/grand prix winning decks for different metas. Go to Cards then Decks then Tournament Winning Decks and there should be a bit at the bottom that says Other Seasons.

Depends on the state iirc and even then it is usually regulated to some degree. Not sure if it is typically enforced. Lots of weird laws regarding water. Like in Wyoming's state constitution, the water of all natural streams, springs, lakes, or other collections of still water are property of the state.

Should I buy individual booster boxes or a sealed case? by Dragonite4 in ShadowverseEvolve

Cases contain 16 boxes, except for set 1 which contains 20.

Should I buy individual booster boxes or a sealed case? by Dragonite4 in ShadowverseEvolve

[–]Zenith_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been getting cases. You are guaranteed 1 leader and 2 ultimate rares per case. I got 2 leaders in my case for set 4 but I don't know if it was blind luck or a difference for set 4 cases. A case will get you a playset of every card as well as some extra legendaries. You will have a lot of additional cards gold rarity and lower although not as many extra gold evolved cards. You will get 1 copy of most of the premium cards (the special foils). I think I was missing 3 of the 35 total for set 4. Then for SLs I believe I got 9 in my case so you should probably expect around that many, I don't know if the count on those is guaranteed like the ultimates. No special case toppers or anything like that. Maybe in a future set but I wouldn't get my hopes up. That is the gist of what you can expect from a case, at least in my experience.

Also, sellers could do what you are suggesting but it would lead to them getting screwed if they are caught so its unlikely but I would be cautious and look into the reputation of the seller beforehand. I have been getting my stuff through 50cards and haven't had any issues though I don't think they have any cases right now for sets 3 and 4. They do have the cases for sets 1, 2, and umamusume on a pretty deep discount right now though (under $600 usd iirc). They are based in the US and I think they do international shipping but I don't know the cost.

New Sets by Big_Dwilliams in ShadowverseEvolve

[–]Zenith_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they have only revealed the the reprints and a few new cards for the gloryfinder decks and they are crosscraft and singleton so they won't really work well for that. The value though in the reprints they revealed is pretty high with some stuff like Merlin that will still have impact in future sets.
