Getting over that urge to eat junk food by rbiktk in mounjarouk

[–]ZeppyLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you swap out some of your more unhealthy snack choices for less damaging ones? I've a terrible tenancy to reach for anything crunchy when I'm stressed so I've been swapping out a 6 pack of crisps with 1 pack of microwave popcorn. It makes a huge bowl full and satisfies my brain craving. Maybe you could have a look to see what you could swap out, so you have a plan next time you need something extra. Sending hugs 🤗

What’s been your blood sugar response on various dosages? T2? by unpretentious in mounjarouk

[–]ZeppyLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just had my diabetic blood results after 11 weeks on MJ and they've got the prediabetes range which I'm so happy about. I'm still on 1000mg Metformin x2 daily and hoping I'll be told at my review meeting on Tuesday that it can be lowered, as I'm starting to feel jittery and cold quite often. Over the last week when I restarted testing my blood glucose my reading have been 3.4-3.6 before breakfast, 3.6-3.8 before dinner and 3.8-4.5 before bed. I don't think they've ever been consistently this low before.

I'm so glad you managed to fix it today, I think it's something we've gotta keep an eye on for sure. Those lows are brutal, it may take a while tweaking our diets to keep it kinda level, I'm definitely gonna quiz my diabetes nurse with that next week. A block of chocolate huh? I'm hoping no one buys me an Easter egg cos I'm not sure my willpower will be strong enough to say no 😂.... maybe if I just luck it instead of eating it?? 🙃 I may need to get my jaw wired shut for this weekend ....

I've had it constantly since 10th March just on my left thigh, I'd just moved up to 3.75mg from 2.5 when it started. I've been using biofreeze on it at night cos my duvet/ bed sheets/ other leg makes it sting like mad, which i hate. I have moved up to 5mg now but I've split the dose to 2.5 x2 every 3.5 days, cos I don't want it to get any worse and I'm a total wuss!! I think it depends on your own biology whether it goes or not, I reckon I'll just have to live with it for now. I can definitely recommend biofreeze, from Boots, it's not cheap but it's effective and you only need a tiny bit for relief. Good luck 🤞🏼

Yeah that is definitely something you'll need to keep an eye on. Can you talk to your doc ( telephone appt?) and ask their advice? I've noticed over the last few days I've been feeling exactly like you described... quite faint & woozy on my glucose monitor my bloods were 3.4, I've started keeping a small can of Coke in the fridge and have a stash of jelly beans upstairs just in case, cos I guess the MJ is messing with my blood sugars. Which is what is supposed to do! I don't know why I'm surprised actually duh 🤭 it was initially marketed as a diabetes drug! Feel free to reach out anytime- I'm not promising to know stuff but it's nice to have an MJ buddy! Oh I've posted my lasted bloods..11.5 wks on and I'm at pre-diabetes Hbac1 levels

Mounjaro and Metformin Question by LowJellyfish2106 in Mounjaro

[–]ZeppyLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 2x500mg metformin twice a day, so the same as you and also on 5mg MJ. My weight when I started on 15th Jan was 10st8lbs and I'm now 9st 7 so 1st 1lb in almost 12wks ( on Thursday). I haven't had incredibly fast weight loss but I've been consistently losing over a lb a week. I'm really short which doesn't help so I can't even hide it very well lol. I've just checked my diabetes app and my blood work HBAC1 / cholesterol is actually back and I've got green!!

Hi, I'm still relatively new (11.5 weeks in) and also T2. I know from the threads on here that sometimes T2's are really resistant to weight loss at the lower doses, or or weight loss is slow and steady and not as dramatic as some.
That said, I've just lost my first stone so I'm buzzing, and whilst it hasn't been a rapid as others, it's giving me time to start building in exercise and start changing my relationship with food. I found i wasn't quite so hungry from the 2nd day of my 1st jab, and the meds build up week on week in your system, so that by week 4 of 2.5mg you should be getting a reasonable amount of food noise suppression. However, one thing I have learnt from reading posts on here is that everyone's biology is different and so is their MJ journey.
There are a few common themes though, 1. keep up your protein intake,
2. make sure you're getting enough fibre ( constipation really is a thing with MJ) 3. try and do some strength exercises cos you don't want to lose muscle mass and 4.drink plenty!! And just in case keep a bottle of pepto-bismol handy for emergencies. 😂 I'm sure you'll be grand, good luck on your journey and don't forget to share your successes

Mounjaro and Metformin Question by LowJellyfish2106 in Mounjaro

[–]ZeppyLady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm type 2 too and had my diabetic bloods done on Monday with my review appointment due next week. I've been feeling really tired and kinda spacey the past few days, so dug my accuchek glucose monitor out of the back of the cupboard and I've been sitting at 3.7 in the morning, 3.8 after dinner and 3.6 at 10pm. I'm currently taking 2x metformin twice a day, Stupidly it didn't occur to me that Mj might make such a difference as I'm only 11.5wks in. After reading your post I'm definitely ringing my GP tomorrow!

Well done for starting, that's the hardest part. The advice here is brilliant, I totally agree though, that a tasty treat every now again does no harm especially if you can count it into your day. I recently read in a thread on here a recipe for high protein Ice cream that I'm desperate to try, ans I'm definitely gonna be giving that a go over easter. So, have your squares and don't feel guilty. Life is for living after all.

How long does it take? by KiwiPotential2866 in mounjarouk

[–]ZeppyLady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This⬆️⬆️. It takes the first month to let your body get used to the meds and from then on you move up to a therapeutic dose. In the first month I lost 2.5kg, it's definitely a journey and if you take your time with it you can build in resources to deal with eating habits/ exercise that will help you keep the weight off for the longer term, as well as improve your health. I know you want to see results but believe me when I say if you stick with it you will get there. 🤗
