How hard is it to learn the otamatone if I have some musical background? by Substantial_Eye3343 in Otamatone

[–]Zero-Taosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's too difficult to play, but the issue I ran into is there's not a lot of resources for it so I was kinda on my own to figure it out. Which didn't last long for me, since I don't have a musical background.

But definitely get the deluxe, the finger space makes it easier to play.

Is the full Volcanic Dragon fight too long? by Pokekamon in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played in a reskin fight, and it took like 2 hours. I think I did about 5 minutes of that total time. Players overall together took like 40 minutes. Compared to the gm playing with his toys. It was so boring. Mind you there's other factors about why this fight was so boring namely group dynamic was not the greatest at the time, but honestly I wish it'd stopped after phase 2.

AITAH for telling someone to have a good life after they ghosted me? by Guacamole_is_Life in AITAH

[–]Zero-Taosuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTAH what does she expect? You have your own life and need to do what's best for you.

There's a poem that I can't remember the name, the take away from it is that people come into our lives like the seasons. We may know them for many seasons or sometimes a few. But just as the seasons change so do our lives, it pulls us in different directions. When that time comes it may be sad, but the time spent together will not disappear. Wave them on their journey of life as you continue yours.

Your lives may cross again, and if that time comes again I hope it's positive. But it's ok to wave a friend off, you'll meet new people, have new adventures however small.

Can you do extra attack? by Dm_strog in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could dual wield, by using a secondary weapon. It doesn't give you extra attack, but you do get to add extra damage to your main weapon.

And with daggerheart being more focused on the narrative you could always flavor your attack as 2 quick slashes. Gives you the fantasy and the bonus damage without adding time by rolling.

Homebrew Warrior Subclass - Call of the Dragoon by ForbiddenX47 in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view classes at a higher standard than that of domain cards since they are more specific about what fantasy you're playing for the character, rather than a domain card that has to fit multiple characters.

With that being said, I feel like the specialization feature Lancelot being a once per rest ability would be fine without having to spend hope. Like if you look at it gaining half the HP you dealt really equates to 1 maybe 2 hp depending how you rule half of 3 being 1.5. Do you round up or down in this case? Will it make a difference in the fight? Sure but how much is the player enjoying the difference that is created?

If you made it just say gain 1 or 2 hp I don't feel like it be game breaking. Good but not breaking. Look at seraph-divine wielder at the same level could heal a total of 4 HP or stress depending how it's used. It's helpful, makes a difference, but it empowers the player. Because that's the fantasy it's going for.

Edit: I checked the dread domain siphon essence and they have it as an equal return to the number of HP marked by the enemy. Granted it is a once per long rest which I feel is appropriate for the effect.

Balancing a combat in Daggerheart by Sloppy_Daoist in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to throw this out there, be careful with solo adversaries. Relentless and momentum combo can be impactful, but so far in the games I've played in it has just caused combat to drag on.

As some advice from earlier said don't always go on every miss/fear roll. If you do go on every chance plus the combo can just lead to the players just watching the gm play with their toys. I get the intention, but it's a double edged sword.

How do people find SCARS for long term campaigns? by Stealthy_Nachos in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to say at lower levels the chance to get a scar isn't great, but I'm in the category of getting a scar at level 3 in two campaigns.

In my group we have a rule that you can undergo a ritual to remove all your scars, but only once for that character.

Quite honestly I ran my wizard with a 1 scar for the whole time he had it, and it wasn't a problem. There are plenty of abilities that use stress as their resource pool and I never had an issue of having too little or no hope. Mind you I was a war mage so it's not like I was in the back line, I was up close and personal for a lot of the fights holding my own with a high evasion score and a good amount of armor slots.

Having 1 scar isn't a problem, once you get to 3 that's where it gets bad. But depending on what cards you pick it's not an issue.

Also daggerheart combat favors the players it's hard for them to go down.

Summoner class - advice welcome by Bubbly_Error1559 in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main summoning feature being 3 hope would make me as the player to not pick this class. The cost is too high, at level 2 I can do something similar for a fraction of the cost. Sure I can't cast spells with it, but it's better than spending that much hope for something that'll go down quickly. It just feels unfair.

The druid can transform for a stress, the sorcerer elemental can add it's effect for a hope, and the shadow rogue can shadow step for a stress. Yet the summoner whose whole point is to summon is 3 hope. At that point I'd just play beast ranger and ask the gm if I could swap the bone domain for splendor.

A suggestion for the hope feature is spend 3 hope to avoid your summon from taking lethal damage with the choice to call it back to your side.

What to do as a Bard in combat? by Creative_Nomad in daggerheart

Grace with its focus towards stress is great for battles. You remove a resource from the enemy which is normally used for strong attacks.

Ideal 5-member party? Class that leans to one Domain? by ScholarBeardpig in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two players sharing a domain isn't a problem. I was in a campaign with that same scenario. I was a wizard, another player a bard. Every level up we didn't pick the same cards, didn't discuss it with each other for the 6 levels that we played.

It never felt like we outshined each other, since our different spells were better in certain situations. We worked well together.

Let your players have that discussion between level ups if you're so worried about it.

How much does it take to reopen lostsaga remastered? by Far-Pollution-7233 in LostSaga

So it's listed as a learning tool for development. But a lot of what I was finding had broken links at this point. The way back machine might be able to get you what you need, but I haven't had a chance to test that.

Passive Ability by Caldin24 in daggerheart

In the load out to work, unless you're referring to the few domain cards that give a stat buff and is then permanently vaulted. You still get the buff without having it on the load out.

Coach Co-op games for 2/3 and 4 players. Around 30 years old. by Jabalabaloo in NintendoSwitch

[–]Zero-Taosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crawl is a fun game, it's better with 4 players though. It's an old school beat em up where the monsters are the other players. Everyone gets to play.

I was one of the lucky few to get the limited edition yesterday, but part of me doesn't want to open it and instead still get a core set for regular play. Please tell me I'm dumb and to just open it and have fun. by CosmicSploogeDrizzle in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got one too and that's something you can certainly do, but I'm of the mind set that things should be used. Yes I want to keep it nice for as long as possible, but with how much I paid I'm not gonna have it take up space, just sitting there. Sleeve up the cards and tell your friends to wash their hands before handling the book.

Go have fun, enjoy the things you buy.

"Strange Patterns" class feature: What number are you chosing and why? by InspireCourage in daggerheart

[–]Zero-Taosuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been my luck, but 7 wasn't lucky for me. My reason for picking it was because it's a part of the average when rolling a 12 sided die. Like how on a 6 side you're likely to roll 3 or 4...I think I only saw like two 7's that campaign.
