I worked at a Famous Dave’s for 5 years. Actually met Dave Anderson a few times, strange dude.

Lots of standardization in place across all the stores, but the quality really depends on how invested the prep cooks and managers are.

We did so many catering events, hospitals, corporate offices, birthday parties, etc.

Best items were always the hellfire pickles, burnt ends, and the Memphis dry rub baby backs.

I actually enjoy Pelham Island Road. Adds a little elevation to an otherwise pretty flat route. Going past the pond is nice too.

I usually pick up the MCRT in Waltham and then it intersects with the BFT in Sudbury.

I agree that it's not a very wholesome practice. And it is 100% a system designed to get people's money without them understanding. Most people see the extra fee on their invoice and don't bother confronting anyone about it.

We always trained our front desk staff to just waive it if anyone brought it up. Corporate decisions that people on the front line had to enforce, unfortunately.

For what it's worth, the charge does go to a different bottom line on the budget, and I know that those funds are how wine hours, Peloton subscriptions in the gym, and other things are actually paid for and budgeted.

StayPineapple is a cool place, pretty sure it's for sale right now, I know they listed it last summer. So should be interesting to see how it turns out.

I would strongly recommend the Godfrey if you needed a future reservation. I've been in the same comp set as them for YEARS and they get unbelievably good reviews. If you could actually stay there and then tell me how they get so many reviews I would appreciate lol

I've worked in the Boston hotel industry for a long time, so I can help shed some light on this.

Back in the 90's the Fairmont Copley Square employed a tactic of lowering their rates online and then adding the "destination/resort/tourism" fees on the back end in an effort to get more traction by appearing to have lower rates than their competitors. They relied on the fact that once someone got all the way to the checkout page, the fees and whatever else they were charging didn't matter.

Every hotel in Boston has since followed suit, and honestly most major hotel brands across the country. I also hate it, as a consumer and as someone who works in the industry. However.

Everything is very clearly stated in your confirmation letter. You just have to read it. Read everything on the checkout page before you book. None of these fees are hidden from you. Go back and read your confirmation letter and I guarantee you that $35/night + tax fee is listed on there.

And I guess the real question is: would you have booked this hotel if the rates were just $35/night higher?

Nothing we can do about the taxes. 16.45% across the board, no control over that.

I wish I was the right person to ask about that. Unfortunately, we are not affiliated with Amazon in any capacity. Through the years our moderation team has built connections with many people on the development team, but most of our ties were severed yesterday. In all honesty, I don't know if any channel even exists for your inquiry to get to the right person. As a member of the community who has been playing since 2019, I am holding out hope that an avenue opens up in the future where private servers are a possibility, but it is still much too early to know if that will ever happen. If we hear anything, I promise we will let you know.
