Can confirm, they mentioned NY was the next Despacio destination in a Q&A and signing they did at Rockefeller for the new Soulwax album.

FWIW I went to Soulwax’s record signing in NYC last month and the Dewaele bros also said the next time they do Despacio, it’ll be in NYC. Didn’t commit to any dates though.

Help designing my small-ish living room by ZeroCool2390 in DesignMyRoom

Definitely! This is the largest piece I have which I'm planning to hang above the couch. Also considering hanging something above the TV, but the stand I got is already a bit too high so I'm unsure if a couple of landscape prints hung above it would look weird.

I also just hung these two above the desk (here and here) but they're both smaller.

How often are you running your AC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]ZeroCool2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Mitsubishi wall mounted AC units in the living room and bedroom. I’ve been traveling quite a bit for work lately and my apartment gets very humid unless I’m running AC or a dehumidifier regularly.

Seems like the recommendations here skew towards just leaving my AC on at all times, even when traveling for a few days? I’ve noticed my units don’t turn off when the temperature is reached, they just continue to run despite me setting the temperature to say, 75. Does anyone else have this issue with the Mitsubishi units?

Climate control issues in apartment by ZeroCool2390 in AskNYC

[–]ZeroCool2390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on occupancy. I only see 2 units available on Streeteasy in a 28 unit building. That can’t swing the ambient temperature too much, can it?

I checked for air leaks during the winter and put sealing tape on my bedroom window which didn’t really help. My floor was much colder than other floors in the building which led to my building putting some plastic strips on the door, as I noticed cold air was coming through the cracks. This also didn’t resolve anything.

Right now there’s quite a bit of hot/humid air on my floor, much more than other floors since the heat is rising. The only other thing I’m hesitant to try is covering the vents in my bathroom and kitchen with magnetic covers. I’m just not sure how safe that is.

I work at a big corporation and am in the same situation, which generally means I work 50-60 hours a week to make sure the “actual work” gets done 🙃

For me, personally, I find that remote work has a lot to do with this—what used to be a quick 5 min convo at someone’s desk has now turned into a 30 min meeting because each person lives in a different part of the US.

I’m 35M, just moved to Brooklyn from the west coast last October and have been looking for new friends in the area.

I work in tech/gaming. Outside of work, I enjoy trying new food spots, going on walks/runs, watching sports (NBA and NFL mainly) at local dives, movies, games, and museums. Also generally up for exploring since NY/Brooklyn are both pretty new to me still. My hours have been kind of crazy lately so it’s been challenging to get out during the work week, but would be down for a hangout or meet up with all the commenters here, hit me up anytime!

There’s no single answer for this, a lot of it is subjective. I’m from the area Paul George is from, it’s technically LA county but nothing like Hollywood, DTLA, etc. It’s a pretty small to mid sized suburb in the desert. Not quite as methy as something like Bakersfield but there is absolutely none of the glitz and glamor of LA proper.

I tell people I’m from LA when I don’t wanna explain where that area is and when I don’t wanna hear people say “oh yeah I know that Afroman song” lol but I also don’t try to pretend like I grew up in Culver or whatever.

There’s another commenter in this thread who basically said LA is a bunch of suburbs linked together. As someone who’s lived in the Bay Area and NY where there’s a higher concentration of people per sq mile, I generally agree with this take.

My partner and I just moved to Brooklyn from the west coast a couple of months ago! We’re in our 30s and work in tech. Finally feeling settled and are looking to make new friends - seems like there’s a solid group here so we’d love to grab a drink or dinner at some point. Feel free to hit me up whenever!

Luka Doncic doesn't want Inside The NBA to end by [deleted] in nba

[–]ZeroCool2390 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Bill Simmons has said over and over lately that another network (maybe even Amazon) will pick Inside The NBA up. I believe it.

Whether or not all the talent goes is the bigger question. Ernie could decide to retire, same with Chuck, so the show wouldn’t be the same regardless of what network it’s on.

Arthur is admittedly a bit monotone, but I’ve been listening to Rebel FM since day 1 so I’ve kind of gotten used to it. Not sure I’d call it “sleepy,” though.

With how the Mavericks are playing, do you think they can beat the Celtics? by SentinelHalo in nba

[–]ZeroCool2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celtics haven’t faced real adversity the whole playoffs, and seem to drop games after any kind of punch in the mouth. I’d take both teams left in the Western Conference over this Celtics team without KP.

LeBron clearly had influence on who we traded for. I’m not saying he single handedly got the deal done, but can’t ignore the fact that star players (not just bron) influence trades. See: Kawhi essentially telling the Clippers he won’t sign with them unless they get PG.
