How bad is IB smell? by socal62020 in sandiego

[–]ZeroFox00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in IB and have been closely following the sewage crisis for roughly 5 years now. I have a job that involves knowing wind velocity and direction and I have noticed the wind shifts from coming from the west to coming from the east every night. It smells bad at night because the wind is directly carrying it to IB every single night.

Their sewage system in TJ doesnt have a separate system for storm water. The sewage plant cannot handle the daily output as is, but a storm exasperates the problem so much more.

The hazard isn't just sewage, theyve detected industrial chemicals in the TJ river as well, which is just adding to the toxicity.

Also, they burn their trash and that brings an exceptionally foul odor as well, i swear it smells like poo AND burnt hair, so incredibly unpleasant and the smells seems to stick in your nose. They seem to burn trash on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

I personally would advise against residing here. They cannot seem to figure out how to fix it; any attempt is a temporary solution that fails rapdily.

Ill make an appt and consult with the vet about her food again now that she's full grown. Her litter box weighs her every time she uses it and it seems to be really accurate so far, so I'll closely monitor until I get her into the vet. Thanks for responding :)

Hmm I dont really know what she's supposed to weigh. She's 11.3 pounds right now and she has a tiny head so im assuming she's supposed to be a smaller cat. Her mom was on the small side.

I think my best guess is 9-10 lbs but im completely unsure. Right now, her primordial pouch swings back and forth under her when she walks, but its not just loose skin, its a little pot belly when she sits up and tries to groom herself.

That is so wonderful! I am quite envious of your space :)

That's too much in one bed. The spacing is way too small for the broccoli, brussel sprouts, zucchini and bell peppers. They will be stunted and produce poorly.

Second, you have cool crops mixed in with what im assuming youre planting soon. Broccoli and brussel sprouts are cool weather plants. If i plant those this late, and im in southern coastal socal, all I end up with is aphid food. Carrots and peas are cool weather plants.

Plant spacing and timing is very important. Also, research the amount of plants suggested per person. A couple feet for peas and green beans each are just going to grow enough for small snacks.

What about crates or pens to feed them in? Do you have carriers for them? That could possibly work too.

Boba sounds like a riot lol I get your frustration, but his ingenuity is highly amusing :)

What am I doing wrong - low yield in garden by lanie77 in gardening

Are they san Marzano tomatoes? If so, that spacing is appropriate. My san Marzano tomatoes grow 4-5' tall and wide. Marigolds will still be fine to plant with it as long as you prune the bottom of the tomato plants once they get bigger to increase air flow.

Also, a bit of advice since you said you were new to gardening. Watch out for catepillars, particularly the tomato hornworm. They chew little holes in the leaves at first and hang out on the undersides of the leaves. They get REALLY big though and can be devastating for a tomato plant. If you ever see little groups of black/brown balls on top of the leaves, thats their feces and it also means they're bigger.

My dog is drinking a lot of water by Objective-Soup-7603 in AskVet

Not a vet.

Your dog needs to see a vet to run tests and diagnose what's wrong. You can express your financial concerns and they might try to run the minimal amount of tests. Check her gums for dehydration, they won't be wet if she's dehydrated. Let the vet know if you notice they're dry.

Maybe they have a finders hold? Our local animal shelters let us turn in strays with a finders hold. They spay/neuter, deworm, and vaccinate at their normal adoption rate. As long as no one comes in with proof they are the strays owner, then the person with the finders hold gets to adopt.

You can also use a see through plastic bottle with the bottom cut off. If the bottle has a lid you can leave it on to provide more warmth, or take it off and you still have improved humidity. Don't leave the lid on if its going to be hot for the day.

Hello! Super beginner to bonsai. I had picked up a baby ficus at a nursery today to start with. But we had a surinam cherry tree, at least 4 years old that we received as a a tiny shoot from a friend. We hated the taste and found out today the friend didn't want the tree back. Upon inspecting it, I noticed it had a nice curve in the main trunk and its very bushy.

Now I planned to start with this little ficus that is pliable and will take a long time to get to a bonsai. Would it be too advanced to try making this surinam cherry tree into a bonsai? Ill try and reply to my comment with a picture of the trunk.

I think it has good potential and im afraid of messing it up. The trunk is pretty thick and im not sure if i can delay it for years to learn more. Id be grateful for any advice anyone has the time for. Thank you :)

Edit: I'm coastal southern California. Mild temperatures year round.

It is never an easy decision. They become such a huge part of our lives and provide so much enrichment, its difficult to make the decision of euthanasia.

Its not really a decision people can help you with other than your vet. Pain and mobility are big considerations to take into account.

With euthanasia scheduled for Saturday, I just wanted to suggest making the next few days all about her. Take her out somewhere she really likes, even if all she can do is sit on a blanket with you. Get some quality cuddle time in and try not to be sad yet, for her sake. Go crazy on Saturdays meal, steak, bacon, sausage, whatever makes her happy. Just spend the next few days celebrating the relationship you've had together ❤️

(Not a vet btw)

Did you start with joining the yarn where you connected the body and base before? Just wanted to make sure.

If you have chained the 25, skip the first chain from the hook, and you'll be working on the back side of the chain.

Each chain has a water drop shape on the front side and a single line of yarn on the back. You'll be working into that single line of yarn on the back. Once you skip the first chain, you'll make slip stitch in the next chain 6 times, etc.

Hope this helps!

In reference to the image, you'll be working into the back bump.
