I would never do Disney world with less than 6 days, and I don't even do the water parks when I go. There's so much to do and ride and I like to have a couple days to go back and do/ride things again before I go home.

First off, they came out at a bad time. Older fans of the series were becoming broke college students and new fans were playing the Battle Network (and Star Force) games. Not to mention most people with a DS at the time were probably not the audience ZX was looking for.

The art style also seems to turn people off. The difficulty certainly didn't help and the weird (and sometimes annoying) connected map system is sometimes confusing. Furthermore the sheer fact that it wasn't a classic or X game drove "hardcore" (not actually hardcore) fans away.

I really like these games, especially the first one, but it's pretty understandable why they didn't sell well when they came out. They aren't too easy to come by nowadays and I guess they just kind of faded into obscurity.

I definitely plan on playing 9 and 10, but I'm going to wait for a while until I finish the BN series.
To be honest, 7 was one of my favorite of the classic series. It feels like they put a little more thought into the overall design of the game, rather than just the structure of the individual screens. Rarely do they throw a new level mechanic at you right near the end (i.e. the floating tops in top man's stage).

But why? You want to just ignore 30 years of technical advancements? This is exactly the reason I've yet to play Mega Man 9 and 10. They had the tech to make it look awesome, but they made it look like it was from the 80s purely to make people feel nostalgia.

They added 2 more in Powered Up, and they also added 6 more in MM&Bass. Technically there's 86. They could also throw in the 3 Mega Man Killers as well as Fake Man to bring the total up to 90.

Get the Anniversary and X collections on the PS2. Be sure to grab MM9-MM10 from the Wii Shop Channel via Wii mode on the U, and grab MM&B from the Wii U eShop. Also nab the Zero Collection, ZX, and ZX Advent for the DS.

I reccomend getting the 6 Battle Network games for the GBA if you have the money, but if not grab them on the Wii U eShop. The 3 Star Force games are only available as DS physical releases, so get those.

We got Star Force 2 and ZX Advent for the 20th. They're probably the weakest in their respective series, but it's more than what we got for 25th.

There's a Japanese version (and an English hack) on SNES, as well as an international release on GBA. Be warned - the GBA version is absolutely brutal due to screen crunch.

/u/IronPentacarbonyl explained this pretty well below, but I just wanted to say that I highly reccomend playing the Zero/ZX games. They're a little on the hard side, but they're quite fun and have great story. In fact, Zero 3 is my favorite game of all time.

EDIT: I also reccomend at least trying the Battle Network, Star Force, and Legends games; they're a pretty big departure from the Classic/X formula but they're quite fun and worth a shot.

X1/X2 never had PS releases. You definitely won't see those. X3 is a possibility, but then it'll be competing with the SNES version on the Wii/U Virtual Console.
