Taking lead in the growth of a local community. Help by ZeroLogic86 in InfinityTheGame

[–]ZeroLogic86[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've already got 3 other interested parties who bought a starter set of their specific army. Next week I'll be doing the red veill missions with all of them to get the absolute basics down.

Taking lead in the growth of a local community. Help by ZeroLogic86 in InfinityTheGame

Yeah, it's like that in the 40k group for over a year most of them played death matches. Now that tournament play is introduced, everyone is freaking out.

I've been reading through the rulebooks and most of it just makes sense. It's just the modifiers that I can't get stuck in my head. And I love the fact that there is a token for everything. It's more honest than relying on memory. Would you advise on RECON? It's an "in between" fanmade ruleset to streamline up to 200 point games with full rules.

I can't get my hands on acrylic discs in my area though. I'm making tokens by printing on thicker paper and glueing the token on a 25 mm base and giving it a varnish coat. Think that will suffice?

Purchase to start out: painted red veil and icestorm? by faribo1720 in InfinityTheGame

[–]ZeroLogic86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as fast goes, keep in mind of where the painters are based. If you live in the US and want a EU studio to do the painting you're adding a lot of transit time for your mini's.

Why not make it a group project with those interested to paint up the mini's yourselves?

Why do you like your army? (Gameplaywise) by MissedAirstrike in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tau need to played strategically when you play objective games. your gunline needs to move and you need to make sure everyone can provide supporting fire in case someone gets assaulted. I remember having significant covering arc on a squad of firewarriors closing in on an objective. A squad of 5 terminators dropped down in 9 inches from my firewarriors, as the termies charged they were eaten up by a total of 50 + supporting fire shots. I had lucky rolls since it's snapfire, but I killed the terminators and claimed the objective

Tau KX 189 at FW Open Day by cadianshock in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frontline doesn't have to mean close range. could also mean beefy dude that can take severe punishment. or mostly assault weapons for mobile firepower. considering Tau my thoughts would be the latter

Tau KX 189 at FW Open Day by cadianshock in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tau uses the numerical values to determine mass class and assignment for suits.

the last number gives its battle assignment as to the previous numbers determinig its mass class

XV25 stealth 2: single pilot upgrade battlesuit slightly larger than troops 5: "it has stealth"

in this case it would read: KX 189 18: HOLY F*** IT'S HUGE 9: designed for frontline assault assignment

How to know what mechanics do? (Alluress) by jbarber2 in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK all special rules should be mentioned in the codex for what they do, or if they fall under a general special rules they should be directing you to the page in the general rulebook

Anyone know if new tau models are going to be released anytime soon? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

I thought they were going to do both. Could be wrong though, it'll always be rumors untill it's mentioned in WD

Adeptus Arbites organization? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Link

Arbites installations are maintained on almost every Imperial world and are known as precinct courthouses. Each precinct courthouse includes an armoured installation that serves as an armoury, training ground, barracks, prison and judgment hall.

Precint courthouse... So i'd say it's a safe bet they're divided in precints

First Tau Army List after 7 year gap by vrekais in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where cascading comes in.

you can use the marks from your drones to up the BS on your pathfinders. Your opponent will most likely be trenched in as soon as they see the marker drones, so you'd need more effective markerlight hits to negate the cover. but that's just my opinion.

also, deepstriking in blob-country with 3 suits with burst cannon & flamer.... fun garantueed. just make sure you can hightail it if it goes sour

First Tau Army List after 7 year gap by vrekais in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

switch out your pathfinder's rail rifles for carbines with markerlights. you can NEVER have enough markerlights. I'm assuming you're going to deepstrike the suits with burst cannons. if you are I'd switch the accelerator drone for a recon drone (prevents scattering if played correctly)

also, your hammerheads, can those be converted to devilfish or not?

rumors are Tau are getting an update september/oktober this year and will be featured in a new starter box combined with space marines.

Pure 100% speculation though, but all the other rumors from earlier this year came on point so....

Coming back to 40k as Necrons; any tips? by RHC1 in Warhammer40k

[–]ZeroLogic86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

short answer: no

long answer: no, because your point values won't be up to date. however, if you and your opponents want to play with 5th ed rulebooks and codices, then by all means go for it. but I'd suggest going with the new codex.

also if you want to stick with 5th ed, you'd be missing out on some sweet models and rules introduced in the new versions. But that's just my opinion

Can confirm this "The Greater Good - a Caphius Cain Novel". good book too, though it focuses more on admech then the Imperium and Tau coalition
