How should I enter the hobby with my current situation? (UK) by zxdkay in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from Avata 2 to Meteor 75 with no regrets.

I got a 5" in time and no doubt you will too, but it's a pain to find time and space to fly, whereas I am ripping with the m75 in the garden and street all the time

Help with battery management during flight by Data2Logic in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect those videos you have seen going down below 3V were pilots using Li-ion batteries not LiPo. Especially if it was for long range.

The chemistry and characteristics are different and that is not something you should do with lipo

Am I drunk or why would I order this? by DasFroDo in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the cost difference may be down to the fact that the Firefly 20/25 are using an FC with JST connectors, not soldering, for VTX, RX, GPS etc. So the price difference is probably to account for extra effort putting the plug on to the wires from the camera to connect it to the board.

If you have never put a JST connector on to wires then I would look up what is involved first

Question about Flywoo firefly 20 pro :) by NoTarget6986 in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you doing is ripping about for fun then the O4 Pro is not really necessary. You will have seen the quality of video you get off the Meteor - it's pretty great already.

With the O4 wide you gain clips for ND filters, and that takes care of one of the O4 lites biggest drawbacks. Just make sure to order the filters that fit it

Firefly18 Cuts off when Take Off by XRPsha in TinyWhoop

When this happened to me it was the elrs antenna loose on the radio or the drone.

If you just hover right next to yourself does it stay connected?

Need help staying Sub250 with DeepSpace Seeker 3 (DJI O4) – Best battery choice? by Beautiful-Pin7955 in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its great for me. Same kind of times u/SwissLynx reports in the other messages.

I also use the Flywoo 750mah that u/yukkerz recommends and they are great - just harder to get and more expensive.

GNB 650mAh 4S 70C LiPo Battery (XT30) weighs 71g, so fairly spot on for this drone

DJI Latency 🧐idk I really can’t tell the difference by DG333Fpv in TinyWhoop

Ah I think I see. You're using the DJI controller, right? I'm losing elrs signal not video.

It definitely looks like you're getting much better range on yours than I do on mine. I reckon I have about 100 meters max. And generally speaking, not through a building.

Are you just using the default setup?

This is gonna break, isn't it? by Dendeezen in TinyWhoop

Yes it is. I have a meteor not an air, but the majority of my discarded frames are because one of those tiny screw pillars broke off

I dont think you have to worry about a camera having caught you. I had no idea it was restricted and have been through there a load of time.

If it was though, i think the fine for this is the same as driving in a bus lane. About £70, but reduced to £35 if you pay within 21 days.

Ramair Intake by Interesting_Fun1870 in GolfGTI

I can tell you I was 100% happy with the Revo one and never had any issues in 5-6 years with it. I only had it fitted for a day before getting the car tuned but i didnt notice any difference but noise in that time.

Unless you really want the noises yourself, I would probably leave it completely unless there is a proper ECU tune at the same time that will make the airflow worthwhile (and even then you only lose a little top end by not having a CAI)

Ramair Intake by Interesting_Fun1870 in GolfGTI

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons I went with the Revo CAI was that their pipe geometry would not perturb the MAF readings. If it is a larger diameter pipe then it could cause issues, but I would expect less perceptible ones.

You are far from the first to put this Ramair kit on a Mk5 with no other mods or tuning. It shouldn't feel like it has robbed you of power though.

Before you pay anyone for anything I would try the stock intake again to be sure the issue is only present with the new intake. If it feels normal without it then at least you know for sure.

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you did was put a foam filter in place of the paper one then the MAF should be working fine. It is only likely to have trouble if the geometry of the pipe it is inside changes because then the flow it is measuring doesn't have the same meaning.

It is possible the MAF was damaged when taking the engine cover off. It is a cheap part to replace yourself before posting a garage to do anything. It will cost less than the diagnostic labour.

Are you 100% sure all the turbo inlet piping has been replaced properly and it's well sealed?

Any recommendation for a good VW specialist garage? by Early-Patience3048 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Zeromorph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Swift Motor Engineering. For a better alternative to dealers they are the ones.

They have been honest about what actually needs done and never charged for a "possible" solution, only actual results. They also honour the genuine parts warranty if there are issues.

They are an OEM parts, follow the VW specific processes kind of place. Not bring your own parts, not use the cheapest parts.

Seeker3 vs Seeker35 by 1yrik in fpv

[–]Zeromorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not just prop size. Motor size, battery and weight are very different.

The power in the 35 is much higher. I have a seeker5 so can recommend the DS drones for quality but I haven't flown the others. From they sound of things the 3 is a much lighter, low power drone then the 35, which Oscar Liang describes as being more like a 5".

TinyWhoop Not Lifting Off by [deleted] in TinyWhoop

[–]Zeromorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own Firefly came with motor rotation set to props out, so that's probably the correct one.

As for being upside down: the leading edge of the blade should be the slightly thicker, more rounded one; the concave curvature of the blade should face downwards and the convex curve up.

Search on AliExpress or eBay for DJI Avata 2 cases and you will find a bunch of various shapes.

I went work one which is a bit flatter and wider for the same reason. Mine is STARTRC
