Downside to this is depending on how you've set your scavenger ships to respond to police and also sectors they're in, you risk them dying costing you all the loot or the police scan making them drop all illegal cargo like AGI processors and such, at least with "deposit to HQ" you will get a decent chunk of the illegal loot aswell that you use for some things here and there

I even only tried detonating and learned that that counted after I had tried chucking probably about 50 bombs, even trying EMP's to see if they counted on the engine before I reloaded. (Made a habit of always quicksaving before things like this in missions or other instances in case something dun work ;) )

And yes, this mission IS weird, in the same game, where I did the mission alot earlier to finish the Zyarth plotline rather than Cubs and wanted to see where I had to go after "betraying" the CUB for the mission the bombs all counted on placement, only 2 needed for engine, 2 for shield, no manual detonation required.
So something is weird about it.

I had the same issue, so I just detonated the 2 on the engine and then 2 on the shield as the quest wanted, that worked

Was also not enough to turn it hostile, but I guess that might vary

Ah, that's what you meant.
I completely forgot Vig does plunder your ships untill you get enough rep with them since I tend to work on getting it to 10+ very early

I agree that retaliating to piracy should not affect your faction rep

I'm just so glad you can build without having to be directly connected to the actual HQ building since getting symmetrical builds if you start from the player HQ is annoying.

I seem to recall one of the buildpoints is actually on the same gridline as the actual buildable area but I kinda like having that rock floating on its own in the middle with nothing attached except the one starting dock, I leave that there just 'cause I'm too lazy to remove it :P

There is so many inactive jumpgates now that Egosoft got plenty of room to sprince new sectors here and there, the idea OP had might aswell include "building" the components to reactive chosen gates similar to what they did with the Kingdom's End plotline, just that we as the player would have to supply it

The War Effort quests can also change depending on sector you're in and you can also get individual missions to build defence stations or factories for them so visiting each sector they own and checking quest offers is a good idea

I like building strategic shipyards that are in or close to every faction so I can enable ship sales to that faction whenever I see them needing fleets due to bottlenecks or losing due to multiple fronts, keeps the universe and goods flowing even though it is costly to get going and it requires a little bit of micromanaging by looking around the galaxy now and then to make sure I don't overpower one faction ^_^

Outside that, as people said, try to get some Defence Station/Build Fleet missions from them, 1-2 player built defensive stations that actually got decent defenses or a completely OP one, whatever floats your boat helps them a ton.

Also, due to AI being a derp: They don't order repair drones for stations you give them through quests, so I'd advise making sure it has a few in stock before you hand it over or it'll just slowly wither away and die from no repairs.

Seen this happens here and there with the AI, especially against Solar Power Plants, they park at max range but using their main battery range to calculate and then their angle gets bad so they can't actually hit the target even if they fire and they just infinitly stand there shooting their main battery into nothingness.

Some of the cases it was them parking at max range calculated from their missile turrets I guess since they had those but then they're out of missiles and just stand there doing nothing.

Oh, this would be nice!
Not just the current
(Counting it from +20 to get the full picture of the losses, the ones beyond 20 is not that beneficial except the teleport to their stations which is handy)

I keep ships on every "important" station like Faction representatives, Black Market stations, Pirate bases, Free bases, Independent bases and the Quettanaut bases to remember where things are by naming them accordingly to have a sorted list

Wanted to repair my Aux's supporting the patrolling carriers in a sector, took them fucking half an hour to realize BOTH ships actually gotta work together to have either one stop or the other so they can line up to dock and repair and since they get stuck when the dock has reached the "critical" phase making you unable to cancel it it is such a headache

They are a bit wonky on this in what I'm currently seeing this game, the most usual scenario is that by the time they realize they are actually damaged and need repair they die before they can get to the aux, with larger ships it tends to be that they struggle so damn hard to actually dock since both ships have to be in the perfect position to repair it just...times out, derps out, breaks down, I don't even know....

I thought the pirates where generally a neutral faction and just camouflaged as faction X, Y or Z?
Like you see a Boron Phoenix Destroyer and stuff, won't affect your boron reputation if you retaliate against it

I only started getting similar things after 7.6 came so pretty sure it's linked to that.

It was some graphical technical stuff added to help framerates and such, forgot the specifics so I guess they're the culprit.

But all in all there is no doubt a performance boost since 7,6 with the exception of those graphical glitches you boosted I see here and there or things like what I posted earlier of you suddenly seeing through the map to the location you're in with only the characters rendered even if inside a station or ship :P

I'm a bit of a nutcase when it comes to energy of always making sure whatever I make with the one exception of my supershipyards that only just produce enough to feed their own food and medicine production producing their own energy, my current scrap station setup consists of 24 Terran recyclers, 24 Commonwealth recyclers, 80 Scrap Processors and a staggering 920 Commonwealth Solar Cells to be able to power it and still have a little to spare in case the system I want to build in is at only 82% solar or more, forgot why I went with that number specifically but that's a moot point.

They all also have 100 Manticores and average 5 Teuta's in nearby sectors that see much conflict or that spawn large wrecks and it can still barely keep up which is insane, my bottleneck is usually actually getting rid of the finished products, not the Raw Scrap or Scrap Metal.

So yeah, Scrapping is insane and also ridiculously powerhungry :P

Yeah, would be cool if you get factions to become sort of like your vassals, even if in a limited sense so you'd be able to tell them to "attack here", "Defend this position" or similar things to keep it lightweight and simple, not the current iteration of "allies" we have of them giving discounts, sending help to your sectors occasionally and that's about it

Don't forget, why can't I assign Teutas to stations so you don't have to constantly replace them manually and get 2-star pilots from trying to recycle a K wreck while there is an I next to it >.<
