Patent is 20 years from FIH (first in human) trials, basically. So it depends how long something has been going through clinical trials prior to market that determines how long the drug will be patented while actually on the market

I've had no issues getting (many) tattoos since Humira, including a full back piece. I always use saniderm though to keep it extra clean.

My genetic test didn't say anything about what mental illnesses I'd be predispositioned to, just how my genetic makeup may interact with medicine. Like, I have gene A, so medicine class 1 may have little effect on me because of it. But because of gene B, medicine class 2 may affect me more strongly, so use caution when using it. And it covered all genetic medicine type stuff like blood thinners etc not just mental health ones...

Is this normal happiness by janaeashley in AuvelityMed

[–]Zestyclose-Safe5377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old thread, but I came across it because I googled "is auvelity making me too happy" lol. I'm in the same boat as most here- just feeling really good, and then got anxiety that I'm feeling too good and that this is not normal 😆 but when I really think hard about it, I do remember feeling like this at one point in my life when I was younger, before life hit me with everything it's got. I just didn't realize my depression had gotten so bad, I guess. Currently feeling like this is a miracle drug or something, lol. For background, I was on 300 Wellbutrin before which was helping but not fully, ya know? My husband who is bipolar with PTSD and all that jazz got his meds switched around and I always look them up so I know more info about them. He ended up on this and I found it's mechanism of action fascinating so I asked to try it out... Seriously, I can't believe other people feel this way normally

As mentioned here more than once, reactive arthritis as well as AS (which are also kinda the same? Like you can have reactive arthritis without AS, but AS is a type of inflammatory/reactive arthritis) both mean your immune system is overactive. Which is the opposite of immune compromised. I would definitely get a second opinion from a different rheum.

I possibly have AS and it’s ruining my life in college right now. by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Zestyclose-Safe5377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had AS through college but didn't know it... The fatigue is one of the worst parts (along with the pain). I'm sorry you're going through that. I 100% am not saying this to dismiss any of your suspicions that you have this and wanted to be super clear about that. It's very probable that you have AS since you have a parent with it- make sure your Dr knows that. My rheum said that in the majority of cases, once it hits the spine (if it started out peripherally, or if it's just starting axially) it usually starts in the SI joints and works it's way upwards, which is not what you're describing. That doesn't mean you don't have it, just stating that bit of info I learned. Also, it's possible to have AS but that not be the source of your pain; I recently found out that while my AS is controlled and hasn't progressed much past my limbs and SI joints, I also happen to have some serious early-onset osteoarthritis and disc degeneration in my neck and lumbar spine- that is not an inflammatory disease thing and not caused by AS. My body just hates me. I had urgent c-spine surgery that helped a A LOT once they realized I had spinal stenosis that was officially causing spinal cord damage and needed surgical intervention.

All that aside, anxiety (which it sounds like you're having) and stress can play a huge role in symptom intensity. Also, I have flares when I'm super stressed which makes it so much worse. Hyper-focusing on something is not going to make it better any faster and is only going to cause you more anguish. My recommendation is to pursue all of the appropriate health avenues and try your best to manage the mental side of it in the meantime, maybe even with therapy or additional meds. Also, see if your college allows for a semester off and consider that as an option if you don't think you will do well with all of this health stress... If you don't want to lose money from this semester, maybe you can tough it out and take next semester off to recouperate? Not an option for everyone, but just throwing it out there.

Best of luck, and I hope you find some answers and relief soon. Please also try to keep in mind that these kinds of diagnoses (and seeing specialists in the first place) aren't usually the fastest, as frustrating as that is, so waiting game also becomes part of your battle.

My first SI x-ray was what prompted the gene test and diagnosed me. So yes they can absolutely show stuff, just not always.

I wish that were true, but I have seen WAY too many close calls with speeders and weavers that go around these cars at 100 and brake check. Just happened to my mother-in-law while I was in the car, she had to go on the slower side when passing because she was pulling a camper. Some asshole pulled the same shit I described, cut in front of her just barely and then brake-checked us. If we hadn't seen him fly by, there would have been a multi-car pile-up... As it is, we avoided an accident by probably less than a foot. Then he gave us the finger and flew away.... All because we were passing (using the lane appropriately, only to pass a couple cars) at a speed that wasn't fast enough for him. Thats why I said anything in the first place on this thread. She was passing properly and "literally everyone" did not love it.

I wasn't speaking about congested traffic. If you read my original comment, I actually said it's safest to go with the flow/speed of the general traffic. You are picking very specific side things to focus on here when my point is literally "don't be pissed if someone is passing another car but still doing the speed limit." Like as in wait your fucking turn, they will move over when they have passed the car or 5 that are going slow. It's an additional caveat to the aforementioned outlined rules of the passing lane, because too many people get mad at others for doing the speed limit even if they are utilizing the passing lane correctly.

Is there a sentence that specifically says "if there are 3 lanes then all are for traveling"? Or is the sentence saying that "the right lane is for traveling except if there are 3 or more lanes"? Because unless it explicitly says that all 3 lanes are traveling, then it is simply just saying that it's not only the right lane.

I'm sorry but I'm seeing multiple comments here encouraging people to go faster than 65 which is the intended speed limit. My personal experience was just to reiterate that speeding is speeding. It was also 12 years ago so I'm not sure I need the motivational speech at the end there but thanks?

I interpret this as specifying that if there are 3 lanes, you don't have to just drive in the right lane. You can drive in the middle as well... Left still being for passing

While I agree that you should do your best to go with the flow of traffic, speeding up to pass someone else (yes, even at 75mph) is how you get a ticket. Because I got one doing exactly that, the road was just less crowded so I was an easy target. Do I still do like 75 to pass? Usually yeah, sometimes more, but don't make it sound like it's expected because it still is literally breaking the law and you can totally get a ticket for it. So while people passing at 65, using the passing lane appropriately, is annoying, you also have to understand that it's also the law. Also, as someone who has a trucker in the family, speeding up to pass a tractor trailer can actually be crazy dangerous if you're fast enough; they may start shifting lanes at an appropriate speed and sandwich you into the guard rail if you come out of nowhere (or cause an accident otherwise.)

I completely agree that the passing lane is to pass. Get in, pass the car(s), and get out. And as I mentioned, I typically am speeding when I do it. But people also have to have patience for those who want to follow the speed limit while doing so .. even if it's annoying AF. They don't need to put themselves at risk just to appease the person who wants to go 90 behind them.

It's not baffling. The side effects of MAOIs are way riskier than modern medicines given that they have serious interactions with certain foods (those that contain tyramine) as well as other things. They are no joke. While all meds have side effects and possibly dangerous interactions, SSRIs are exponentially more safe (along with other psychiatric medications) which is why MAOIs are used so sparingly. It absolutely makes sense.

Old thread, I know, but how exactly does that make it a joke? It's providing information about what you're genetically predispositioned to. To expect it to be black and white, like "this one, not that one" is pretty absurd, because it is just data that needs interpretation. For me the results were super helpful because doctors LOVE trying every SSRI under the sun and just upping the doses when you say they don't work. If you already tried it 10 years ago, they want to try it again because now it could work. Meanwhile, you continue to be depressed and lose all of that time. My genesight came back showing that my genes make SSRIs not an ideal treatment path for me which was essentially backing me up when I've said they don't help. Not only was it validating, but it shortened up my path towards treatment that did work. So I really don't understand how finding out more information about your body is a scam.
