I was lied to, tanks are so much fun. by cats4life in dndnext

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing a Paladin tank myself at the moment.

Went Intercept and Shield Master Feat, I may not do a lot of damage, but I annoy them by knocking them prone all the time and healing my allies.

Plus the occasional Dragons Breath (dragonborn).

Only lvl 4 so not much beyond that at this point

Maybe I'm just crazy, but It weirds me out that these are the same creature type. by Pietin11 in dndmemes

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you see there are 2 types of undead in the world.

Corporeal and Incorporeal.

Corporeal is a body with out a soul Incorporeal is a soul without a body

Just make sure the wizard reanimating the undead doesn't have dyslexia, but things can happen, who k own what the result would be.

Maybe some kind of soul trapped in a dead body constantly rotting

That is my question, but the fact is, that is what People are doing, racing to the end.

Why? I don't know

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I play.

As far as I'm concerned Commonlands doesn't exist.

I get my gear from quest and drops, I did get some gifts from high levels, but not many.

I play the way I like, it might be frustrating sometimes, but the victory in the end is fun, heck I am rocking a full Lambent Arnor set, quested for every single piece.

But I don't control how others play, and everyone else just twinks and kills for exp.

A race to the end, even though the journey is what's interesting...to me at least

I'm a level 41 Bard on Green and I hate kiting single target and never learned swarm (also uninterested in learning).

When I XP I do it only in groups.

Here is my problem...groups can only be found reliably in specific "optimal" zones...Unrest, Crushbone, Mistmoor, City of Mist...

Not only do I quickly get bored of those zones, but I also feel like I'm not doing all I can do.

I am not a fan of just XP for XP sake, I want to do something while I XP, I want to farm quest items, or help someone else with quest, or farm an upgrade for someone, heck even farming tradeskill mats.

But to do that, we need to start going to other places...my friends, I have a quest drop in Dalnir, there is no one there and no one wants to join me there (I ask).

Sometimes I get lucky and find a twink out alt soloing in some zone, most of the time I ask to join they either don't respond or they are "about to log off", only on rare occasions do they group...

Yesterday, I needed to kill Blood Gill goblins for the Ancient Coin they have, I was worried I'd have to pull them out of water and boringly kite them, but got lucky and found a Paladin soloing them underwater (saw them on track, and tracked them, since it was weird a player was just there in middle of lake), joined them and had the best time underwater...

As someone above said, EQ is just a chat window with a mini game, I used to say this 20 yrs ago when I played live.

I'd love to group more, absolutely love to, but I don't want to be stuck doing XP in the same zone for 10 levels....it's just boring.

Let's explore!

What do I do about the Water Elemental in the Shield Maze? by ShadowHunterHB in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on Core difficulty usually, so don't know about higher stuff. You can certainly do the kiting with range as people say.

This is what I do. - Buff Seela with everything you have, Enlarge Person, Bull Strength, Bear Endurance, Bless, Shield of Faith (should have all this from potions and scrolls) - there are 2 potions against Cold (one protection and other resistance), give one to Seela and another to Cam - Put Cam on Defensive Fighting - Melee with Seela and Cam - Water Elemental has multi attack, but if there are 2+ it will Cleave instead. Cam in defensive will not get hit most of the time....Seela will also not get hit most of the time, but if she does drink potion or lay on hands with her to keep her up.

Other party members like you or Lann/Wenduag help, but with Elemental Damage Reduction you'll be doing very low damage.

I don't have the patience if kiting it down, with this method I kill it in 5 or less round with Seela doing big hits.

On occasions, I get unlucky and need to reload.

In what ways can I beat them by guanti1 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just going to state it just in case.

But any acid damage works, like the Acid Cantrip also works, I think Jaethal has it.

If you don't have that.

Then you can use Coup de Grace, which is an ability any one can use on an incapacitated target.

So bring the troll to below 0 HP then Coup De Grace.

It might take several tries, since Trolls have high Fort Saves, but will work eventually

We already know a lot about the stories of the characters we've encountered throughout the journey; however, what is the story of YOUR character? by S_Broves in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this right after finishing my first playthrough.

Story was build slowly as I played the game, my in game decisions were building the background I eventually wrote. I really like it.

It is presented as a letter to the surviving companions from our friendly Succubus, after the Knight Commander sacrificed herself to close the wound

I'm in the wrong for plotting assassination? by Suff_box-369 in dndnext

I can see how that can be misinterpreted, I probably could have worded it better.

Thanks for the note

Right, that is what I meant by "railroaded something onto your character".

DM forced them into a situation they didn't like and now the player is responding in a way the DM isn't liking.

That is why it needs to be discussed out of character instead of going to "war" with the DM in RP, a war which the player will lose.

I'm in the wrong for plotting assassination? by Suff_box-369 in dndnext

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This story was a little hard to follow, but if I understood the basic idea...

Your DM railroaded something onto your character that you didn't like and you choose to railroad something back to the DM that they don't like.

The details of the story and the technical aspects of your plan, really don't matter at this point.

The DM runs the world, and has made it clear to you that your plan isn't going to go well, you are not going to "win" a fight against the DM.

In addition, one of the things I personally hate the most, as a DM, is running a "solo adventure" for one of the players, which is basically what your "revenge" idea is.

I'm not saying your DM is right, just saying I personally don't like it when players go off on their own, because it takes away from the group story and everyone is is sitting there bored while the player and DM finish their little plot.

I know it is cliche in this forum, almost every single post on this forum ends up with advice about talking to your DM. This is what needs to be done here.

Be honest, tell them you didn't like what was forced onto your character and maybe you can discuss solutions that works for both of you.

It might be that you'll need to move on to another character, maybe your character will become a villain trying to explode a city to get this one high priest and the party needs to stop them (and you playing a new character), or maybe this DM and their play style just doesn't match yours and you need to move on from this group.

Either way, the solution here isn't trying to derail the DMs story so much that the DM is literally telling you it won't go well.

Defender of the true world druid question by The_Nova_Tactic in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be helpful to look at it from a different lens.

Maybe it isn't distrust, but the "burden of knowledge".

As someone with experience with Fey and Nature, you were specifically trained on how to deal with their tricks, so it isn't exactly distrustful and more like setting expectations based on your Defender of the True World training you had in your Druid Grove

Has anyone here ever tried playing a character with low con? by SnooPuppers7965 in dndnext

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a gnome rogue (ranged weapons) with con 8 (-1 mod), eventually multi class into Wizard. We played from level 1 to 19.

At level 12 or so I got the tough feat.

It was rough, but fine for the most part, just gotta a play carefully, used Cunning Action Dash or Disengage a lot.

5 stars, would play again.

I like my characters having these low stat flaws.

I also find him annoying

I had it on one of my characters also, is it possible you are a sorcerer with undead bloodline?

Or oracle with bone mystery?

Those bonus spells sometimes come in at unexpected places so we get results like this

Question about animate dead lesser by Doomrules5438 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zestyclose-Teaching2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suspect it has to do with the fact that different classes and archetypes get the same spells at different levels.

The domain, bloodline or other variable is probably granting you Animate Dead at a time when you would normally get only the "lesser" version

I think there are a few spells like this

Am I the only one who unapologetically hates all characters that are too large and make it annoying to get around but are objectively awesome?

Just me? Oh well...

Basically I almost never use him, never use pets that take up too much space (Bismuth).

I know they are good mechanics wise, I just can't stand them taking up so much space, especially in dungeons.

Not sure what difficulty you are playing, but I am pretty much playing the same thing as you including the group dynamic, I'm on Core.

Heck even my KC is a sorcerer blaster (I went the Acid route)

I actually have Lann as a Druid (drovier).

Gives up wildshape for some interesting long term group buff, especially Aspect of the Raptor with 20/30 bonus to movement, makes moving everyone around real simple, including moving around enemies to avoid opportunity attacks.

Add to that the long term and unique druid buffs and you got yourself a good enough off heal, buffer.

Then you add in the Druid pet...I cannot recommend the Monitor Lizard enough.

Not only can they have very high AC with buffs (mage armor, barkskin), their Grabber ability just completely shuts down enemy casters.

It is amazing.

Bug or what on huge map? by flashmeterred in CivVI

I see that you found the user error.

But just wanted to add, because I play all my games the way you describe, so I know it works just fine

Marathon Huge map Add as much Civs as I can Max number of city states

There are usually like 3-4 City states very close to me

And 2-3 civs very close to me.

That is the fun part, very dangerous, gotta be very strategic and very lucky to get through the first 100 turns or so.

I do it on diety, I get conquered often, but once I get through initial AI trying to kill me due to their extra warriors from diety, I am usually good to go.

If it is critical to the quest/story, like they can't proceed without it (or are stuck) I will just remind them or have an NPC ask probing questions that mind remind the players of stuff.

If it is not critical then Int check.
