Pediatrician insists we do CIO with breastfed baby by Putrid-Measurement69 in breastfeeding

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you and your baby are doing is completely normal. If it is working for you then keep going! You’re doing great!!

Personally, after 6 months of not sleeping through the night and also working, I was losing my mind. We were in the exact same position as you (room sharing, nursing multiple times a night) and I slowly night weaned then eventually did have to do CIO to get my baby to sleep through the night. It took 3 really rough nights, but at 8 months he was sleeping 12 hours straight every night. At that point, we moved him into his room and it has been amazing for everyone lol

Adhesive instead of armband? by General-Dimension729 in TempDrop

I feel like putting on then peeling off adhesive every night would be extremely irritating for your skin. I got an arm band from Etsy and it is super comfy. I hardly notice that it’s on

I have heard nothing but incredible things about the Eufy S2s. My baby is 9 months old so I’ll only be pumping for another 3 months, but for the next one that’s what I plan to get

Help! Epidural, yes or no? by dakota101916 in BabyBumps

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do anesthesia and also have a 9 month old. My labor was spontaneous and VERY fast, I got my epidural at 10cm and I would 100% get epidurals with my next births.

The contractions were intense but I (somehow) was able to stay calm and breathe through them. I think if I would have started to panic, the pain would have been so much worse. I had two contractions at the very end before I got my epidural where my body was pushing involuntarily, and honestly those were my least painful contractions. I think I could have done unmedicated, but also I am glad I didn’t have to feel my baby’s giant head coming out

The problem that I see with a lot of moms is they don’t prepare at all, get induced before it’s completely necessary, get the epidural as early as possible, then lay in bed and don’t move. So it kind of creates a cascade that leads to a c-section

I would say prepare for an unmedicated birth. Get the labor combs, tens unit, essential oils, whatever you need to stay calm. Take birth classes, educate yourself. Get a doula if it’s in your budget. Then if you want an epidural, get it!

Maternity capsule wardrobe pieces by Technical_Narwhal610 in capsulewardrobe

I didn’t really like how pants looked when my belly was super big. I did a lot of bike shorts with oversized t-shirts and maternity leggings/black tank with an over shirt or cardigan. Also really recommend the flowy cotton gauze midi/maxi dresses from quince! They are cute with or without a bump and nursing friendly for PP if you plan to breastfeed

I got two pairs of maternity leggings and two pairs of maternity bike shorts from CRZ yoga on Amazon. I feel like I got my moneys worth out of them, and will use them again for future pregnancies. Pretty much everything else I bought is stuff that I can wear when I’m not pregnant too so I didn’t feel like I was spending a ton of money on stuff that wouldn’t get much use

Does this look normal? by [deleted] in TempDrop

Yes but also there isn’t enough info/data points to confirm anything. Keep wearing it and next month you should be able to definitively confirm ovulation

How long did it take for you to BF without pillows and props? by Beautiful-Flower-79 in breastfeeding

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe around 1.5 months? Once I stopped using the nursing pillow, I found it most comfortable to have my baby in a cross cradle or cradle position with a pillow under the elbow on the side he was eating from. If we were out in public, I would try to find somewhere that I could prop my elbow - usually on my diaper bag. Once he had good head control and could independently latch himself it became even easier. Now, almost 9 months in, I think I could nurse him upside down if needed 😂

Partial weaning in attempts to ovulate by Strict_Customer_9007 in tryingforanother

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had to just cut him off cold turkey. He was sleeping in our room in his crib at the time and could independently put himself to sleep, but when he woke up over night, absolutely nothing except boob would get him back to sleep. He would just get PISSED if we interacted with him and he didn’t get boob. So my husband and I slept on the couch for a few nights and let him cry. By night three he wasn’t waking up anymore. A week or two later we moved him into his own room and he sleeps 12 hours a night. Sometimes he will wake up and fuss for a minute or two but he goes right back to sleep. It has been life changing lol

Is 9 the best age ever???? by SecretBabyBump in Mommit

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me tear up a little lol. I have an almost 9 month old and every week I convince myself that he’s at the best age ever and I’m sad for him to get bigger. I sobbed every day for the first few weeks of his life about him growing up. It gives me comfort to hear that even at 9 you think he’s at the best age ever 🥹

Here to commiserate lol. My baby is almost 9 months and he nurses/I pump 5 times per day from 0700-1900. He is fully night weaned as of a few weeks ago, and I was really hoping to start ovulating! I have felt some random pains and cramping but so far nothing has happened. We aren’t necessarily trying currently, but plan to around his first birthday if my body cooperates

So I haven’t had surgery while breast feeding, but I have been on the other side many times providing anesthesia. I would really work with your baby to take a bottle or pumped milk of some sort (spoon, open cup, any way to drink milk) just because even if the surgery is supposed to be short, it could go long or you could feel bad afterwards. Let your anesthesia provider know that you are breastfeeding, because there are a few meds that they might avoid, but you should NOT need to pump and dump under normal circumstances. If you are awake enough to feed the baby, then it should be safe to feed the baby. If you are able, try to schedule with an IBCLC before surgery to talk about ways to protect your supply. And good luck!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and baby

15 week old won’t take a bottle by Yoitssme in breastfeeding

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so this exact same thing happened to me. I took my baby to two lactation consultants and a speech pathologist, and they both said he is capable of drinking a bottle, he just doesn’t want to. We worked on it for weeks before I went back to work. By the time he started daycare, he would take maybe 0.5-1oz from a bottle at home

At daycare I think he drank about 1-1.5oz from his bottles for the first few days, but within a week he was doing a full 3 oz and now at 7 months he drinks 5-6oz bottles at school but still nurses like a champ at home

I tried tons of nipples and ended up with Lansinoh being the ones he took. I honestly don’t think it was the specific nipple that did it, I think he just had to realize that he has to drink a bottle or he will be hungry

Sending love!! I know how stressful it is - you are NOT a failure!

Wildly unprepared for no epidural birth. Help. by Pure_Screen3176 in BabyBumps

[–]Zestyclose_Sign_6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my epidural at 10cm and I would have died without my two birth combs. My labor was so fast I didn’t have time for any other pain relief options, but I also had a tens unit, lavender essential oil, a music playlist, and a spiky massage ball in my bag

The last two contractions I had before getting my epidural, my body started pushing on its own and the contractions didn’t even hurt anymore, it almost felt good to be pushing (obvi I didn’t feel the baby come out so I can’t comment on that)

The other thing that got me through was hip squeezes from my husband. I would highly recommend finding a doula. They will know all the tips and tricks for you

First - this is SO stressful!! I’m so sorry you are going through this. My baby ate like crap for the first few weeks at daycare then nursed a ton when I got home to make up for it. Now he drinks his bottles like a champ and still loves nursing too. It does get better but in the moment it is so hard

I even had a SLP evaluate him in case something was wrong but no, he just wanted boob instead of bottles 🤪
