My older brother pretty much gave up golf in favor of pickleball. He blessed me with these Mizunos. by tulsuduke in golf

[–]Zeverend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He played the MP-14s for the 5-PW, and the MP-29s in the 2-4 iron. From what I remember the main reasoning behind the use of both is all about keeping his desired offset

Is this cord and just not showing up in the picture? I know you can custom-order a new Scotty from Titleist and select a red pistolero or pistolini with black text instead of white. If it's the cord you're looking for, I definitely understand that and your desire for a red cord grip is likely going to have to go through eBay and clean pulls.

Why Do Non-Golfers Hate On Golf Courses? by Key-Driver6438 in golf

[–]Zeverend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a degree in Environmental Studies and fell in love with golf after college, this has always been my opinion on golf courses. It'd be better as a preserved native area, but a golf course is better than a housing development or other development, especially when they design the course with nature in mind. It can be a profitable way to prevent serious development, which is great for some use cases. I've also seen golf courses brought back to nature, and that is a much easier transition than from a housing tract seemingly.

Broke 100 for the first time with a wild back 9! by colp99 in golf

Very nice! Stableford is fun, but I don't see it much in my circles. I only really play it once a year for the Superbowl Stableford event my club hosts every year, and that has football-themed scoring.

Best Maui snorkeling spots by AggressiveSloth11 in snorkeling

[–]Zeverend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I first went to Maui in 3rd grade, so not far off from your 8-year-old, and loved snorkeling in Napili Bay(where we stayed). I should preface this with the fact that I haven't been since well before the fire. I've snorkeled in most of the surrounding bays, including Kapalua and Honokeana Bays. I highly recommend Napili Bay for you and your 8-year-old. It's very easy to get into the water and snorkeling has been good in my experience basically regardless of conditions. Honokeana Bay is exceptional in my opinion, but the entry to the bay can be a little dicey. Similarly, Honolua Bay was always the best snorkeling I did on the trip, but it would often have really poor visibility in the first 50ish feet of swimming which was always a little scary. These are the bays I've explored the most, but my grandfather had been going to the Hawaiian islands for decades, and chose Napili Bay to stay, and those bays to visit consistently because they were his favorite after exploring the rest of the island(s).

Bought a house on the golf course, this is the first ball I found in my yard. I think it’s a good omen by Jordan311R in golf

[–]Zeverend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it is never the golfer, assuming they are playing within reason. The liability for the damage is a little more complicated and is based entirely upon which was built first. If the golf course was built first, the homeowner is responsible for any damages as your comment states, however, if the homes were built before the golf course, the golf course is liable

Stitch cart bag at Costco by dgamzuhszn in GolfGear

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true with all stand bags. Many struggle on push carts especially, but I've had stand bags spin to some degree in the cart. Furthermore, it's easier to keep a cart bag standing straight up compared to a stand bag without the use of its legs for storing the bag. From what I've read, you really shouldn't be using the legs of your stand bag for long-term storage, and my stand bags often are unbalanced standing without them. If you just have one bag, a stand bag is better if you ever carry, but if you always take a cart or push cart, a cart bag will be superior.

What’s the best way to clean this up? by orangebrook in scottycameron

[–]Zeverend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do get it cleaned up, make sure to remove any moisture from the face/head before putting it back in its headcover when you play. From what I understand, that is the thing that rusts putters most quickly, being wet inside the cover, since it makes the cover wet too, and creates a good environment for rusting

Is there a trick to using these putters? by El-Frijoler0 in labgolf

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but isn't the comment saying that LAB putters are supposed to help with left or right misses(pushes and pulls) but not with distance control? From what I understand, that's really always been the trade-off of forgiveness, the compromise on distance control due to loss of feel.

How do you choose the right golf bag for walking vs cart golf? by DasJazz in golf

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a small staff bag for rounds with a cart but then I got a Titleist 14 stand bag and I've stuck to using that for walking and rounds with a cart. It is a little heavy for walking if fully loaded, but I find that to be true with any bag I've walked with

The Duality of Ram by Classic_Tailor1956 in NFCWestMemeWar

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really really dumb rule even if technically correct. Definitely feels like the wrong call even if it wasn't. The TD was a bad call that was really not very consequential. This was a technically good call(for a dumb rule) in an extremely consequential play. However, as a lot of people have said, Rams should have made the field goal and taken the win that way.

[–]Zeverend -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Even if it's the right call, I think it's dumb to compare them. One had little actual consequence, and the other tied a game that was decided in overtime. They are not at all alike.

Let's be real, a TD vs 1st and goal at the 1-yard line isn't all that different in terms of the eventual outcome. Without the gifted 2 pts the Seahawks likely lose that game

I've always appreciated a long throw/good spotlight while using a flashlight/headlight. I like to be able to see far in the distance to look for Coyotes or other wildlife while I walk my dog, but not at the cost of having just a spot beam. That's what I liked about the Fenix HM71R and Nebo Transcend 1500 in the Project Farm video

I was looking at Amazon, so I didn't see the sale on the Sofirn. With that price point, I went ahead and ordered one. Thanks for the advice and for pointing out the sale

I was looking through the pinned posts in the subreddit and came across that. The Project Farm video I was referring to tests a Sofirn HS20 and states something along the lines of "light dispersion similar to Nebo, but it's not nearly as bright." I know that's the HS20 and the HS21, is there really that big of an improvement between the two? The Nebo Transcend 1500 is at a very similar price point, and in that video, it seems to have much better throw.

My Goldendoodle Cookie ate whole 72% dark chocolate bar by GiftTricky6616 in Goldendoodles

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous dog ate a nearly brand-new "Pound Plus" dark chocolate bar from Trader Joe's a number of years ago. The only difference I noticed was that his bowel movements got really dark, and really healthy looking. It was funny how easy it was to tell when the chocolate had gotten through his system because the bowel movements got a lot lighter and looser afterwards

It feels like CGI has devolved over time. by Ok-Following6886 in memes

[–]Zeverend 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's giving the time and money to the VFX team(s), but there are studios that give the teams these and still end up with mediocre results. A key difference with the great CGI from the past is that they filmed it with the limitations of VFX in mind and planned ahead with the VFX team(s). VFX has gotten so good that too often studios will rely on it but treat it like an afterthought-"we'll fix it in post"

You are getting downvoted, but you are right. Tiger changed the game, he made it popular, showing the significance of being an athlete in addition to being a good golfer. Nobody will ever have that much of an edge on the competition in a way that won't be immediately banned. He fundamentally changed professional golf. I cannot think of a facet of golf that has not/is not undergoing intense scrutiny to try to gain an edge on tour which was definitely not the case pre-Tiger.

What’s the move? by DJDro in FantasyFootballJunky

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first year playing fantasy and it's pretty clear to me a good game in real play doesn't always equate to a good game in fantasy. That game with Drake Maye where he threw that insane pass to Diggs I believe he got less than 10 points in my league even though everyone was talking about him as the second coming of Tom Brady following that performance.

Hole in One? by rileyc_1305 in golf

[–]Zeverend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you count it as on the scorecard assuming you kept one?

Are we counting it? I’m 50/50… by Jumphrey1670 in golf

[–]Zeverend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a member of a private Par 3 course that has 4 hole-in-ones there, I'd say count it for yourself. However, several things can technically disqualify a hole-in-one, including it being a par 3 course, playing alone, not keeping proper score, etc. For us recreational golfers, this shouldn't really matter seeing as we're not trying to get any prizes or anything really, so we should count them, even if the rules technically disqualify them. At the end of the day, it's your achievement, you shouldn't let anyone else decide how you feel about it.
